Yeah, I have to agree with “fuck being polite”. It really doesn’t matter, just make sure he understands and everything’s golden. There’s nothing you’ve said here that indicates to me you owe him any scrap of manners, it’s not worth any more energy than it takes to make him leave.

I think the “trick” to not obsessing is to just have a lot of your own stuff going on in general. And that’s in quotes because it’s not really a trick, per se, but more a way you live your life.
