If they are playing games you don't need to be polite. Don't be rude, but just either ghost or say "I'm no longer interested in continuing this any longer." And then ghost.

The problem isn't you. I had the same situation happen. The thing is game playing is a time wasting mechanism. They don't want you to get close enough to see them for who they are. So instead they make you question your self worth and sanity. This keeps you in his life as long as possible without having to try at a real relationship. He knows he would fail at a real relationship. If he really thought you were crazy or bad, he would leave. But he doesn't want that.

You cannot change any of his weird behavior. So all you can do is change your own behavior and go.

Honestly, I don't anymore. I tend to be bitchy, play it off as a joke if I must, and then ignore it.

In the past when I've tried to be nice, they've repeatedly pushed boundaries and end up repeat insulting me.

If you don't even need to be around them there is no need to be polite.

Also, when they play hot and cold like that they know what they're doing. They're trying to confuse you.

You only need to be polite if you work together or belong to the same friend group and expect to work / socialize in the future. In that case, just say “I’m not feeling the spark / chemistry.” (To break things off).

NO to friendship. “Good luck, I have enough friends.”

If you don’t work / socialize, delete and block. No need for politeness. They know they were playing games. You don’t need “friends” like that. If they offer “friendship” in person say no thanks. “Friendship” for men means they want the option to f*ck you or lean on you emotionally in the future.

Recently dealt with this. Guy made no effort in his appearance for our date, acted impressed/surprised that I’m well read, and couldn’t follow along with a subtitled movie. He then messaged me that he was attracted to me and we should have some “NSA fun”

I simply said “I’m too busy for that.” Blocked.

Yeah, I have to agree with “fuck being polite”. It really doesn’t matter, just make sure he understands and everything’s golden. There’s nothing you’ve said here that indicates to me you owe him any scrap of manners, it’s not worth any more energy than it takes to make him leave.

Honestly. You dont need to be polite. I say this because I was some one who thought simply being "direct" was rude. It's not rude and it saves everyone alot of time. I dont know you personally, but the fact the you asked st all and based off how you've written this, I guarantee that your version of harsh is still quite appropriate. It is so hard for me to be direct , honest ,and not feel bad about how others may take it. Alot of times people actually respect it more.

You have to not care what they think about you. They’re butthurt over your polite rejection and they can sense that it will make you feel bad/guilty for rejecting them if they call you names. They’re trying to knock you down a notch because “how dare you reject them!?”

Proudly reject the bastards. It’s your right. When they treat you like trash for rejecting them, they’re only proving that you made the right decision.

I used to feel bad rejecting men and tried to go about it the “nice way” but the meaner I am to them, the more they kiss my ass. I feel the only reason for that is because I honestly, truly and genuinely give no fucks about them and it shows. Never feel bad for rejecting a man.
