I think, in all honesty, seeing it depends on the topic of the thread. Absolutely it is maybe one of the most random threads to say that on - I’ve been keeping it in for a week or two now (post election it’s probably going to die down).

Thank you for trying to actually answer my question instead of just downvoting.

No, that’s me asking if there’s another sub where the rational MRA discussions are, because recently this place has absolutely not been it.

Is there like, another MRA sub where things are normal? I hate to say this, but shit is getting straight up exhausting and childish in here.

I would also guess (again not sure of the actual stats), that maybe prevalence of women’s shelters also adds somewhat to the numbers playing out the way they do.

So because she wore a tasteless jacket at the most tasteless time I must only feel that way as an excuse to hate on Trump? Now I actually would like to know where the fuck the actual MRAs have gone and why all the TD dicksuckers have swarmed here. This is an MRA sub, not a POTUS worship sup. There are more than enough of those already.

Nah, anyone with any sense of tact would know regardless of which First Lady wore it, the timing/opportunity was horrible.
/r/MensRights12/11/18 01:44 PM

Calm down dude. She wore it at a bad time. That’s literally the only thing I said - it also answers your issue as to why people keep bringing up that jacket. Because she made a stupid ass choice that made her look pretty damn stupid. Your reaction is way over the top. She’s not going to notice you this way, bro.

Did I miss some memo that went around recently? Are we seriously an offshoot of TD right now? Where did the rational community go? Can we just get a new subreddit already?

Literally any other time would have been a better time to wear that damn jacket. Come on.

I’m really worried that this fear would lead to someone getting in trouble for knowing how to help, but purposefully not, and being blamed for the death of someone else.

Keeping my other comment in mind as a response/addition to the article you posted: I would love to know a) which neighbor he left the kids with and b) which neighbor called (was it the same one??) and c) what their relationship is to each other. So: N1 offers help to find a babysitter, lets assume Dad refuses because he had N2 to babysit. N2 is with the kids (presumably). N1 calls the cops because why? Because N2 leaves the house for some reason? Because they didn’t even know N2 was there and sa…

It took a hot minute but I was able to dig and find out more....apparently: The CA instance(s) were identical to this, leaving young children alone without adult supervision. I can’t find solid reports on how many times this happened exactly (was it once but looks like more because there are multiple children or did it actually happen multiple times?). Apparently there are only 3 states that even have a law regarding how old children must be before they can be home alone? NC is not one of them, …

Apparently they were alone for two days, he has a history of child abuse issues, and there was no past mention of him even trying to find a babysitter when the case first broke.

My only point: remember how you come across to other people. Being an MRA or even a “true fighter” for equality means being hyper aware of how others see you. That’s just a fact. Fighting an uphill battle isn’t easy. It’s already assumed that by being openly against extreme feminism that we’re painted as woman haters, don’t act in a way that further supports that incorrect assumption. It’s incredibly easy to be painted as a woman-hating ass because of the words you use and the way you overreact …

Oh stop being purposefully stupid. You and everyone else here knows exactly what someone means when they say “play the game.” Honestly, I have always supported men’s rights but majority of y’all here are coming across like little brats who are just trying to argue for the sake of it. Not like grown ass people who really care and want to make true changes. It’s turning people away from men’s rights in droves and making us all look like children. If the movement fails it’s not because of everyone …

Lol, “I don’t hate black people! I have a black friend!!!” I’ll be sure to remind myself how terrible I am as a woman who hates radical feminism and really appreciates men. But, yeah you’re still really coming across like you just hate women, dude. Take a deep breath, calm down, not everyone is attacking you. It’s okay when others disagree with you, and it’s okay when they let you know how you’re coming across to other people.

Wait I’m a little lost, it just sounds like y’all are pissed off at women because the government, which was run by men, forced other men to sign up for war.... How is that the fault of women?
/r/MensRights02/11/18 04:24 PM

I mean, tbf, it kind of really does come across like you just hate women period and are sitting behind anti-feminism to be able to express that.

I wonder if y’all realize you’re pulling the same (bad) chant here as “Muslims are terrorists?” You can’t walk around calling them terrorists en masse then expect any support from the general, rational population. You want to change things, change minds and hearts? Play the game the right way. Not like you’re on an elementary school playground. Sincerely, a crazy-feminist hating woman.

Studied to be in the field but I’m not there yet (distracted by a mortgage before 30 and the corporate paycheck) and all I can think is that the author blames not even society, but the kids themselves. Insane.

My older siblings and I just became heartless, jaded, bitter, cynical people to protect ourselves from mom’s emotional/mental abuse. And she wonders why we won’t “give her” grandkids at 30+

Woman also. My mother never hit us, but my god with me almost 30 and my sister turning 35 we’re just now realizing how much emotional/mental damage she has done and is still doing to us. Her voice is constantly in my head making me question every aspect of myself and also giving me panic attacks every single time I eat enough food to actually feel satiated, let alone full. She’s a wonderfully supportive and loving woman.....as long as you’re not her child.

I’ve always thought the aesthetics argument was essentially bull. I’ve also exclusively heard that argument from women (mostly those who have seen way more circumcised men than not). I’ve experienced both, I’d say in pretty equal amounts, neither one looks “weird,” PIV wasn’t any different from my perspective, I do have a preference that’s been developing but I would never tell that to a partner and even if they didn’t fit that preference it’s the least important thing to me. I’ve gotten into we…

Is it solely responsible though? I feel like “mothers are better at parenting” is considered an old idea from “The Patriarchy” to “keep women in the kitchen?” I actually agree with your general point, This question just popped into my head.

You are 100% right. There is this weird inability to separate the "father" from the "husband." My mother was able to do this with her ex husband and I am very grateful for that. My older brother and sister's father was a terrible husband, and while not an intentionally bad father, he was essentially an absent-but-there-physically father. I don't think he was ready both in his personality/priorities and the business he was in. By the time my parents got married and had me, he was ready. She NEVER…

How do they have more rights? Preferential treatment/ability to take advantage of the system? Abso-frickin-lutely! "More rights," not so much?

You've been in this thread trying to convince people to blame women for a system they didn't create. You're making men within the movement look exactly like the woman-hating stereotype that people are trying to actively avoid. Why? Do you actually hate women? Are you just not specifying what type of woman you're talking about? Are you trolling?
/r/MensRights04/03/18 04:05 PM

Maybe you're right. I just don't know if stooping to that level (like a race to the bottom) is really a good thing or if it's reactionary for the way feminism has been attacking men.

That's how I truly feel. Personally I'm very torn. I'm a mixed-face bisexual female - I don't know how to help men's rights other than reminding people that men need help too. I've been awkwardly (and mostly silently) subscribed to this sub for a bit - I just don't know what y'all want from me/how I can help equality in a real way other than just NOT allowing inequality when I'm confronted with this. TL;DR: how do I help y'all as a woman who really cares about the fact that men are being left be…

I'm incredibly surprised as well, and honestly I wouldn't hesitate to think that they're quiet on this issue because they're very convinced that the new wave of feminism will turn on them overnight. Essentially putting them with the "ultimate evil" (cis-gendered, heterosexual white males).
/r/MensRights04/03/18 01:28 AM

when I experience having this argument the only thing that breaks trough the blind anti-man hate is reminding SJWs/extreme feminists that GAY MEN make up a sizable number of DV victims - and remind them again that they're arguing against men's shelters. Usually gets them to stop and think about why they're so against those shelters.

It's really sad to see people skipping the math and taking this and running with it. I'm NOT saying this is not a serious problem, but spreading skewed facts and making suicide a man v woman thing is probably going to do more harm that any perceived good.

This shit always gets me - if you're so open that you're ok with little boys wearing tutus and little girls playing with trucks....why does it bother you that little girls would want to be princesses and little boys would want to play with fake work benches?! This coming from a girl who played with work benches while covering herself with glitter. And guess what? MY PARENTS DIDN'T GIVE A SHIT AS LONG AS I WAS LEARNING SELF-PLAY!!

This has always been my issue with the campus rape thing - WHY ARE THEY TRYING TO CIRCUMVENT OUR LEGAL SYSTEM!!! I personally am someone who was sexually assaulted while I was in college (supporting that possibly false 1:4 stat - I was with 3 other girls at the time...) but guess what? It was in a crowd and I DIDNT HAVE EVIDENCE! I didn't KNOW, man or woman, who actually did it! I didn't go to the cops because, ok so someone grabbed my ass and I don't know who - I'm a big girl, it happens, peopl…

not because they're calling you a liar Even then - it seems like they're going to the campus admins because they KNOW they dont have to have solid evidence. I don't mean to be shitty toward women, and I know it sucks in cases where there just wasn't/isn't enough physical evidence, BUT THIS IS OUR LEGAL SYSTEM. EVIDENCE SUPPORTS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN MOTHERFUCKING GUILTY. It's sad, and I truly feel for the women who just didn't have enough evidence (speaking as one myself), but this is how it is …

NPR?? I was just in the car on the way home listening to this and I didn't notice why I was getting so enraged until I realized she kept saying "boys," not "men" or even "young men." This whole "debate" upsets and confuses me, even as a late 20's woman. WHY ARE WE LETTING COLLEGE ADMINS ACT LIKE JUDGE AND JURORS?! The fact that she even said shit like "[victims] should be able to CROSS EXAMINE their [perpetrators] and possible witnesses" blows my god damn mind!!! I work in a law firm, and have f…

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think opinions can necessarily be "right" or "wrong." If she's stating incorrect facts and you correct her and provide her with true facts....how is that at all "disrespecting her opinion?" I feel like I've lost my mind with this newest form of feminism. (Disclaimer: a late-20's woman)

Very few actions are creepy. Wouldn't that depend on who was on the receiving end of those? Not the giving end or even a 3rd party's end? An unwanted action is still unwanted regardless of the level of attractiveness of the person doing them. I'm sorry to burst that "hot guys get away with everything" bubble?
/r/MensRights19/12/16 09:11 PM

But feeling safe v being safe isn't that simple. Blacks make some people feel unsafe whether or not they actually are. The feeling aspect is the responsibility of the person feeling, not everyone else who is just existing (assuming they aren't doing/saying anything to make you feel unsafe/be unsafe).
/r/MensRights19/12/16 12:50 AM

I know y'all are exaggerating and/or being sarcastic but in all honesty it doesn't actually come down to level of attractiveness. An ugly creep is just as creepy as a handsome creep, and will therefore make you feel uneasy. I'm sorry I killed the party and I hope to God this doesn't get me banned because I love this sub.

Honestly that's why I usually don't entertain conversations with others face to face about being an advocate for men's rights. I'm a mixed woman who plans on being childfree and unmarried. Whenever I've been stupid enough to mentioned that to a "feminist" I can almost see their head explode. I believe can be both. I don't believe in subscribing to the "type" of feminism that automatically puts me at total odds with men. I also don't think being an MRA means I'm automatically against women.

All I asked was whether or not Merriam-Webster was good enough for you. All I stated was exactly what MW had as the definition. No left or right bullshit, no arguing stupid points that don't matter on an internet forum where we all get imaginary points given or taken away.... Just whether or not MW was good enough for you, as you rejected the sources in Wikipedia.

How about Merriam-Webster, good enough for you?: often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

You provided nothing but a list of bs. You were asked to provide evidence to support your claims and instead you spouted BS and sat there going "well, where's your evidence!?!?!?" How 'bout you give us a link there, hon?

I'm inclined to agree with you, but something in the back of my head says it'll be a lot easier to hound/shame women into taking full responsibility for BC than for them to blame themselves. IDK, I stopped taking birth control because I hated the way the hormones (which were the lowest dose possible at the time) killed my sex drive. I thought I was asexual until I missed a refill! I don't think we should stop at a birth control that has such serious side effects, and I would say the same about w…

I was going to suggest this myself - I'm disappointed, but not at all surprised, by the reaction OP got in 2X. I think a lot of the statements in OP's list are good talking points and if I wasn't on my phone right now I would have suggestions and add my opinion on them as well.

I agree that it would be difficult to test - I'm not sure it's even a female specific privilege, just more of an attractive person privilege. The only way I could see anyone even getting close to figuring it out would be to set up a retail-focused experiment. Both women and men would have to be in a position to give things away for free and someone would have to be there to mark down when someone gets something for free. I believe we'd find that, generally, people would give things away for free…

I apologize for how short and to the point this will be, but I'm on my phone: the problem with finding that "one balanced paper," is the way domestic violence data over the past 15, 20, etc. years has been gathered (and organized to get hard numbers. Yes, many male victims didn't and don't report domestic violence because of the social stigmas that exist. I didn't get a chance to finish reading the article (will when I get a chance), but is there something in the article that mentions why this is specifically a men's rights issue, instead if just an everyone's issue/stupid potential policy issue? Are there women who actually think/assume that men expect some kind of sexual event on the first date? Of course there are, girls get it into their heads at a fairly young age that they're expected to put out....now who exactly put that idea in their heads is another story.

The only time I've heard girls attacking girls for "looking like a boy," was back in high school and it was directed at the very smart, painfully shy, girls who usually wore no makeup, always had their hair in a messy ponytail, wore gym shorts and t-shirts everyday and hung out with mostly guys. I was exactly the same way, but I played jv and varsity sports and they started the robotics club. I think partially because there is no equivalent to the word. Calling a stupid, horrible, bitch a "cunt," carries a lot more weight than "dickhead" or "prick." It's....meatier...so to speak. As a female, I save the word for special occasions, and only use it when I really mean it and when I know the person will hear it.
