We can't all be top 5% earners lol, but I still question that it's worth staying in 5* hotels for those people. There are muuuch better things to do with $2600/month. Like I said, $400/month Airbnb for the budget traveler, at most $800 if we're splurging. Beyond that point there are some serious diminishing marginal returns.

I've Tindered in loads of different countries. Illinois and Louisiana, Mexico, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam. You're right, the Midwest sucks, and some countries are much better than others... but nowhere could I get multiple first dates with 8s and 9s. Then again, I'm not top 10% in any category (except height and maybe intelligence, but girls don't care about the latter).
