I am a 55-year old American white woman—pretty much the target audience for Friends, and I HATE that show. I've never been able to watch it. Anytime I tried, I didn't get far. It's awful.

I'm back! I wasn't able to access this subreddit for several days. I didn't know if FDS had a problem with this post, and if so, why, or what. I still don't know why. Did Reddit kick me off, or did FDS?

I hate my ex-husband for what he did to me and my children. He treated me, and my son, HORRIBLY. I will never forgive him for it. He took advantage of me, my loving nature, and the inherent vulnerability of a mother with young children, dependent on her husband for support. He did not step up and take parental responsibility, he only played at it (occasionally, during brief moments when he would focus on his daughters and play Daddy to them). He would never discuss parenting issues in a mature w…

I used to say marriage was hard when I was married to an abuser. I thought marriage was really hard until I realized that my husband was just a totally unreasonable, abusive person who was just using me.

Deleting my dating profile a few months ago was the best decision I've made in a long time. In 6 years I met all kinds of garbage through old but not one good man. I'll never go back to it. I didn't know if I would meet anyone irl but I was sick of the toxicity of old so I decided to take my chances. To my amazement, I met a nice man irl almost immediately after I swore off old. He treats me very well. During the two months we've been dating he's been respectful. He has a good job, he treats me …

I'm off all OLD apps now (a good decision one I should have made earlier), but last year a dude who I matched with asked me on a date and then cancelled last-minute saying he was sick, and then he asked me to bring him some soup! I'm a personal chef. He said, "Hey, can you bring me some soup? I bet you make excellent soup." The audacity!

This is triggering for me too. What a complete and total asshole. I hope she realizes this and dumps him soon! If she marries him he'll just use her until he cheats with someone else. When she finally realizes that he's just been using her, she'll be devastated that she wasted so many years with him. It's so sad.

I've often wondered about "compliments" regarding a woman's "pussy." Does one really feel that different from all the rest? I know dicks vary, but is there that much variation to how vaginas feel to a man?

I married for "love" and my husband turned out to be a narcissistic abuser who gaslit and abused me for years, beat me, turned everyone he could against me with smear campaigns, and cheated on me. That's all marrying for "love" got me. I should have married for money, at least I wouldn't have so many financial worries.

I've read all the comments so far. I understand and appreciate what everyone is saying. I get the "girl, leave" advice. I have left the relationship a few times, but we got back together each time. I do want more attention and communication from him, but I also know that sometimes what we want isn't what is best for us. Sometimes I want another glass of wine, some ice cream, or a donut, but it's not the best thing for me. In this case I want more attention from him, but that might not be what I …

I really don't want to get married again. Neither does he. We've both had the experience of getting absorbed/lost in marriages, and now we want to maintain our autonomy. I just want more attention and communication than he's giving me.

Whoa, hire a dating coach?!? No thanks, it's not THAT serious. I don't even have an OLD profile. I've given up on OLD because I've only seen TRASH LVM online and I think that's all I'm gonna find. As for turning it into a job, wow, that sounds like a chore. I thought dating was supposed to be a fun, stress-relieving activity. I do some volunteer work and I do find that rewarding, but generally I don't like to do JOBS that don't pay. A job. Might as well do sex work and get paid. A job. Wow.

I have been working on myself for many many years. Therapy, meditation, yoga, writing, art-making, healing bodywork, tarot, astrology, and buddhism have all been a part of my life for decades. You and several others who have commented here have suggested that I think I'm not enough on my own, and that I think I need a man, but as I've stated before, that's not it. I practice self-love and self-care every day. I have a full life with friends and family who love me. I have both male and female fri…

Thanks for your comment. I don't view men as a requirement. Food, clothing, and shelter are requirements. But we all want at least a little more than that in our lives if we can get it. I have a house, a car, friends, hobbies, interests. I don't have the best of everything, but I have what I need. I don't need a man, I want one—a good one. It just doesn't seem like too much to ask for.

That sounds like a creepy ex of mine from more than 20 years ago who periodically opens new Facebook accounts to contact me, even though I block him every time. He sends me things in the mail, but I never responded, until this last time when I emailed him to tell him very directly and very firmly to NEVER CONTACT ME AGAIN. I hope he stays away now. I can't believe the audacity and tenacity of some men.

I don't think I'm forcing anything. Currently I'm not OLD and I'm not looking. My marriage ended 5 years ago and I have what I feel is a very full life, with 3 children, many friends, and my own interests and hobbies. I'm more than okay with living without a man; in fact, I don't want a man to live with. I just want a good boyfriend.

Whining? That's harsh. I enjoy my own company and being alone. Sexual connection with another person is a completely different thing. Masturbation is okay, but it's not the same as sexual connection with another person.

He's definitely a LVM. Dump him now! Don't delay. Tell him it over and then block and delete! Go no contact! Don't think about him. Distract yourself any way you can to avoid thinking about him. Work out, read a book, do yoga, meditate, listen to music, start a hobby—knitting, drawing, painting, photography, sewing, anything to occupy your time and get your mind off of him.

No one's abusing me. Read the post. I divorced him. I don't need a bunch of people making comments about how stupid I am for being married to an abuser. It's not easy to end a marriage when you have children, but I got out and I've been a single mother for five years. I'm responsible for everything because as soon as he left, he moved far away so he could pretend he doesn't have kids. He sees the youngest once or twice a year. He doesn't take any parenting responsibility at all. Do you know how …
