Also passionate about Spotify…. So you’re passionate about something that lets you listen to any kind of playlist in the world, rather than a particular genre or band/artist. I think being passionate about a type of music or band is legitimate, but I totally agree with you, I play super loud music in my room so my mom can’t hear me foraging for mushrooms, is not a hobby.

I would also say age is a thing? Married younger means less chance of divorce apparently. But also younger spouse means they’ve had less chance to date before you (plus may be married due to religious factors).

Yep and very few people just ‘buy a house’ it takes months. Maybe, just maybe, she didn’t consult him in every step of the process, update him on her saving successes and take him with her to all the house viewings she must have done?

Good point. This is a really out of character reaction for me, I never thought I would defend Davina McCall and what she tweeted sits so un-easily with me. But I did/do still want to defend her and stop her from being torn down when she did so much good for the girls who heard her speak. Libfem makes sense tho :(

I disagree. Ok, this may be a statement that I totally don’t agree with and I think she is entirely wrong in this instance but... I saw Davina talk at an event for students and she definitely IS NOT a pickmesha. She was the MOST positive speaker for all the students (it was a female only event). She gave such good level up advice (such as never leave an event without a business card) to all the 14-16 year old girls in the room. She was so open and honest about the challenges she had faced person…

It’s illegal but still definitely happens. I’ve worked in enough places that are hesitant to hire women in their late 20s/30s just in case they ‘drop a sprog and go off on mat leave’

I only know that this is valid for the UK but you can make voluntary national insurance contributions which top up your state pension. Couples who have a SHM (or actually either parent staying home), should be paying into this for her so that at least the state pension is secure. Just as childcare costs should be psychologically paid by both parties (rather than the woman ‘giving up’ her earning opportunity to pay for it - thanks Clementine Ford), this sort of payment should be part of the house…
