I currently owe an insane amount in child support despite reporting immediately that I was unemployed. FOC keeps messing up and keep charging me more despite me doing everything right and reporting everything immediately. So for those of you that think it can't happen to you, it can. This is all even while having a lawyer who is actively working to fix it. Even when they garnish your unemployment they still believe and charge you the full amount as if you were employed.

The wife of the affair partner called me at Christmas last year. The affair partner is my ex's boss and still married with 2 kid. The affair partner ended up writing an affidavit of the crap my ex was doing. It was really wild, like out of a movie.

Well said. Took me a long time to learn this lesson.

She has family there and her family has a house in a village. We went regularly while we were married. That was part of the reason we were constantly in debt.

Good to know about the appeal and not the best use of funds. I did get the medical records, it was extremely difficult. I'm in the process of having them translated now.

My kids are 3 and 7. The 7 year old swims like a fish, I taught him early. The 3 year old doesn't know how to swim yet. He had floaties, but my ex took them off because he was done swimming, then who knows how long she wasn't paying attention, but she probably didn't even notice till other people pulled him out and saved him.

Hahahaha I considered it.

Fuuuuuck, I'm sorry to hear that. It's incredibly shitty. The helplessness of it really is the worst part. I've been feeling the same way about different shit but I know the feeling.

Thank you, that's exactly what I thought also. I also have been working on the swimming lessons for a while, even before I learned about the drowning. My ex has been fighting me the whole time, including filing motions to stop me from taken him to swim lessons. Freaking nuts how terrible some people are.

Yikes, that's sounds all to familiar.

Also for clarity the door dash and Etsy are considered income, I just do very well with them. My LLC is a consulting business and gets paid directly to a business account, not my personal account.

I'm talking about LLC but with a S Corp you can pay yourself tax free up to a certain amount, however that would count as income and be used for child support.

You leave the money in the LLC bank account. Yes your business pays taxes, but it's not seen as income until you transfer the money to a personal bank account, then you have to pay income tax on top of business taxes.

I have a LLC, I door dash, and run a Etsy shop for side hustles and those pay well. Nice thing with a LLC is you can pay for things under business expenses and as long as you don't pay yourself out it doesn't count as income. That's just my two cents, do with it what you will.

I've been dating an amazing lady for over 2 years now. I'm ready to get married again. We have a very happy and healthy relationship, which is very refreshing after the divorce.

It important to develop healthy coping mechanisms. For me I do physical exercise, I have a support network of friends and family I talk to regularly, I journal, and I practice affirmations and gratitudes. Honestly I'm very grateful for this sub. It really feels like a support group to me. You can vent your problems and get some good feed back and information.

I was in the exact same boat. There was no money to hide because we were in 10-20k debt, yet the accusations still came. It really sucks.

Perfect advice. Well said.

Oh man OP I'm so sorry to hear this. Similar thing happened to me also, I was constantly being accused of trying to hide money. My guess is it was projection, most likely that's what she was doing. It took an extremely long time to convince the court and my ex that I was not hiding 100k. My Ex's crazy lawyer could figure out how to add and subtract deposits and withdraws, so she just decided to go with withdrawals only. Seriously nuts, my Ex thought she had me and they ranted and raced for month…

My ex let my youngest drown in Greece last summer and she has exposed them to inappropriate relationship with her boss. The court still does not care. They do seem concerned if I tell my oldest he is making me upset because he is intentionally not listening to me. I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. It sucks and bullshit.

Very true, it's hard to comprehend not being able to communicate it when you used to be able to have a civilized conversations.

Well said, I was going to say the same thing. OP I definitely know what you mean it's obscene how much my ex gets, I could live off of it. Instead she complains about how she is broke and can't get by and constantly asks for more.

Correct, that is what I did.

You might be right, it might have forced her to settle. To be fair she did trick me into thinking she wanted a healing separation and then changed the locks on me. It probably would have ended up worse had I tried to get back into the house. Also 40k was used just to settle finances, which was stupid, but she had an insane lawyer, that she ended up dropping because she was stealing money from her. My lawyer has done an amazing job keeping the costs down, that's the reason why my costs are much l…

Ok, that makes sense. In my case I would still come back and see my children half the time. Even though my Ex was miserable the whole time.

I was abused physically by my parent and it would still be happening if I wasn't the more powerful one now, however she does level the playing field with weapons from time to time. I would recommend cameras and therapy. She was probably abused as a child and is not fully in control of her actions.

My divorce is also high conflict with child custody. I'm 3 years in and looks like nearing the end. I'm probably up to 60k now, however my ex is probably around the 200k mark of her dad's money. She keep crying poverty also, but keep treating me like crap. I really did try and some what keep trying to settle it, but she is legitimately crazy.

Dang, I fell into the same trap. It honestly took me about 2 years to come to the fact that she was not capable of recognizing the things she did that caused us to separate, however I fully acknowledge and own what I did. I still struggle with it from time to time and hope one day she will be able to. I am not going to hold my breath though because I'm pretty sure that will never happen.

I disagree with this. Who told you that advice or what was your experience? I asked my lawyer the same question and he assured me that it would not make a difference in the divorce and I still had half ownership of my house. Once I finally got to court it did not make a difference.

I left before divorce was filed and not also did not effect anything.
