What world are you picturing where incels are allies to women worried about sexual assault?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/10/18 07:53 PM

The sentences that sound harshest there, as a general rule, shouldn't be overlooked. They're meant to be there and meant to sound that way. They are meant to keep you out, if need be. Do you stand by them, or do you not really mean them?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/14 11:49 PM
2

Again, I'm NOT arguing that it would be unwise for women to take care of themselves. But if TRP argues that women should just take care of themselves; otherwise, they can rape them, we need to nip that in the bud. It's not about the women!
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 04:10 PM

Even if there exists a so-called pussy pass, I see no problems with the egalitarian (by definition) standards that I mentioned. Taking responsibility for your actions doesn't mean accepting moral responsibility for any negative consequence because you had an error in judgment. Shit happens, but if you can choose to make shit happen or not happen, if you're a decent person, you'll choose to not make shit happen.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 05:59 AM
2

I wouldn't maintain a friendship or even a friendly working relationship with anyone who doesn't hold that standard. Such behavior is often considered colloquially as "douchebaggery," even if we suppose that it is legal.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 05:49 AM
2

A man should also be able to get as drunk as he wants and wake up the next day unscathed. Now, with a random stranger, that doesn't always happen, and he should be prudent. But he still deserves to be left alone.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 05:43 AM
2

A woman shouldn't get a man blackout drunk and have her way with him either. There's no double standard here- it's just not particularly relevant to TRP.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 05:38 AM
2

You've refused to deny it, after my pointing it out for several times, preferring instead to sidestep by talking about women's responsibility. I agree that men and women should have equal rights. (<< That's an unambiguous response.)
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 05:23 AM
2

So then, after all this discussion, you agree that it's okay for a sober or mildly buzzed guy to have sex with a blackout drunk girl.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 05:18 AM
2

Then it's hard to say. I'm not insinuating that you specifically would engage a drunk girl, but that many in TRP would, and that the abundant upvotes suggest agreement.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 05:04 AM
2

Being a sexual aggressor when a woman is blackout drunk is like being a mugger in a dark alley. While it's unwise to be in a dark alley at night or to get blackout drunk, it's still the moral responsibility of would-be the sexual aggressor and the mugger to avoid taking advantage of the victim.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 03:33 AM
3

Pay attention to the analogy. You were so focused on the woman's role that you missed the man's.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 01:50 AM
2

But the question TRP is concerned with is "should you be a mugger?" And the answer should be no.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 01:40 AM
2

How much responsibility does the mugger have when they steal another person's wallet?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 12:48 AM
2

When given the choice to take advantage of a woman or not to take advantage, you're ethically obliged to choose to not take advantage. That's the issue with TRP on this specific issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/14 12:15 AM
2

No, while you would have some responsibility in the cause-effect relationship, it's clearly his fault morally. The difference that we're examining in this case is that the reader is the would-be criminal and they are choosing whether or not to commit the crime.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/14 09:55 PM
2

Sure, but while people who walk through dark alleys are being irresponsible to their personal safety, it is the choice of the would-be predator to prey upon these people. Both the predator in this case and the man in the earlier case should hold themselves to standards that wouldn't allow the exploitative behavior.

While it felt cathartic to call some people out on their lack of valuable contributions, I still think that this subreddit would be greatly improved by increased moderation. Here's what I think we should remove (I've seen all of these this week from RP and BP debaters alike): discussions about debaters' intelligence (or otherwise irrelevant traits) vague points that can't be qualified (ex. calling some people "general dicks") points where it's clear that the debater isn't willing to provide evid…
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/14 08:48 PM
2

So to clarify: You believe that if a woman drinks, even to a blackout-drunk point, you can take her current state and infer consent from her actions in that state?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/14 08:41 PM
2

TRP only cares about heterosexual interactions.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/14 04:09 AM
1

Please be more specific. What do you mean by "general dick"?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/14 03:34 AM
3

Let's talk about overcoming "last minute resistance" and drinking (girl drinking, you don't drink very much).
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/14 02:32 AM
17

Red Pillers are done being beta providers to ungrateful misandric women. That's it. If TRP can be summarized as avoiding relationships with women who mistreat and hate men, then we wouldn't be having this debate. People tend to be more concerned about "alpha" behavior as defined by TRP.

www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/272rnm/purge_survey_purgey/chzmtm0?context=1 I hold everyone to a relatively high standard, and I think that I'm very equal-opportunity about doing this, so my challenge to jacks1000 is to find one TBP-leaning user on PPD that contributes in a less valuable way than he does.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/14 07:18 PM
2

I might when jacks1000 takes me up on my challenge of finding a less valuable contributor on the Blue Pill side. You're welcome to help him out, but you have to be quick- I think the purge is ending soon. In any case, the lack of defending one's contributions when someone points out that they're not very good contributions is usually considered as conceding the point.

The assumption that TBP is "just satire" is faulty. This mod post exposes TBP's subscribers' ideology. I would argue that the specific views expressed in the top post (aside from moderation policy) are the ideology that TBP gathers around. Okay, there was a shooting at the UCSB campus. The shooter was really into the manosphere type stuff. This is linked to TRP because they're preying on insecure men, driving them to think all women are evil and deserve to be treated as though they have no meani…

Purple pill. Not a fan (except the traditional one at the bottom of the earlobe). I like the look of creamy, continuous skin.

So you're saying your posting habits are okay because others' are worse? Give us an example, will you? I'll tear apart their post history and your post history. I guarantee yours is more inflammatory and less enlightening.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/14 06:37 AM

Stop redirecting all the attention on everyone else. It'll only be worth considering when you find a blue-piller who talks about "neckbeard losers" in every post they make to this subreddit. When is the last time you, jacks1000, made a constructive post in which you did not backhandedly insult the other side? Because I don't recall ever seeing one.

I think Yorba means to say that the real question is To what extent do men have the right to choose to not be a parent? In the United States, women do until the point of viability, but men only do until conception.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/14 06:19 PM

When's the last time you made a point without backhanded insulting the other debaters?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/14 06:16 PM

Uh, if there are users that can't help but insult people who respond to them and generally act uncharitably, I don't see any reason to have them around. I'm a proponent of much stronger moderation.

Please explain. I found the survey quite fair.

Does TBP have specific positions that it holds? Does TRP?

I hate to be spouting feminist talking points, but are you really saying that we need to get mentally disturbed laid so that they don't kill women? Any volunteers? Sounds like a dangerous profession.

The way I'm using it is different from the conventional sense; I'm specifically using it in the Red Pill sense. While the selfishness is obvious in this case, the lack of perspective demonstrated is the solipsism.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/05/14 09:07 PM
4

Fair enough, I should've read all the links. Ironically, the commonly accepted (though not by all) TRP view that "all that matters is if I got mine" is quite solipsistic in the way that the red pill claims that most women are.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/05/14 07:41 PM

... can I assume you would be ok with the gender reversed situation as well? An unsatisfied housewife secretly fucks the mailman, and that's cool cause the husband should have satisfied her? If they had a working sex life before the marriage, and now he refuses to communicate, refuses to take steps to fix the ED, and refuses to provide non-PIV stimulation, then you might start feeling more sympathetic for the woman in this case.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/05/14 07:15 PM

This subreddit's audience includes non-TRP people. They care.

deceit is cowardly. Suppose he made it open that he had a mistress (and that his mistress's husband, friends, etc. are okay with it), would that be okay? I don't think it's permissible for a wife to shag the pool boy cause her husband has ED either. ED is not his lack of trying.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/05/14 07:02 PM

trp perspective, which is to not judge other men who cheat and to never breathe a word to the person being cheated. I read TRP casually, and I haven't come across that view. Can you cite one example?

You'll notice in my brief analysis that TBP has a lot of overlap with many satire and ridicule subreddits, not just SRS. Cool story bro. Why the fuck do I answer these retarded hypothetical questions? LTR's traditionally lead towards marriage, and in the later stages imply some level of commitment. This question seeks to find the level of commitment from a group of people that seem commitment-averse (based on talk about plates and providing value).

Of course, conversely, we have some /r/thathappened tier stories in TBP occasionally as well. http://np.reddit.com/r/TheBluePill/comments/257ww2/i_encountered_a_red_piller_in_real_life_guys/

For sexual strategy, the guy's goal is to get the girl. The girl doesn't mind being caught if she thinks you're the "right type". So sexual strategy in itself doesn't pose women as adversaries. If you want to be with a girl exclusively for a period of time, whether it's one night or for the rest of your life or anything in between, you have to deny all the other men who want the same thing, so competition against other men is inevitable. Thus, it makes no sense to go without a strategy (guidelin…

TBP likes places like Paging Dr. Nerdlove and /r/relationships. Some of them even point to /r/seduction. Others think /r/malefashionadvice + /r/fitness + /r/socialskills is enough.

You bring up an important point: part of why "homewrecking" is a big deal is a cultural stigma that doesn't exist for something like selling fast food to a fat person. But we're still missing a component: the obligation to another person that you're enabling them to break for your personal gain. I can't think of a good analogy to capture that, though.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/04/14 03:29 AM
4

The question is: are you morally responsible for enabling someone's poor behavior? Is it okay to sell alcohol to an alcoholic single mom when she's already drunk? Is it okay to sell a gun to a guy who's talking about a mass shooting while you're getting the paperwork ready? Is it okay to sell arsenic to a food distributor that likes the way it looks in their food?

What makes you think that the mechanism for attraction is similar? Do Republican women just want Obama in their pants? Do female atheists all secretly want that fundamentalist preacher? Perhaps black women all want to be dominated by men in white capes.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/14 05:45 AM

Extreme views are easier to refute, because of the higher frequency of logical errors in them here. I'll probably become a lurker again if all logical fallacies magically disappear from this subreddit. And anyways, why does it matter to you who I respond to?

an accurate parody Since your post was deleted, here it is, for posterity (bold emphasis mine): Well it was really only a matter of time until the virgin-shaming started. Sluts with high partner counts are really good at giving blowjobs because they have a lots of practice, so clearly sluts are preferable to virgins. I'm not interested in arguments against uncharitable interpretations of arguments. I can easily find circlejerks in both TRP and TBP. Are you interested in advancing arguments against charitable interpretations of TBP attitudes? Also, I'm unable to find any specific virgin-shaming views in this thread, so why don't you cite one for me and let's analyze it. I summarize most views here as "they have to be like me in partner count" or "partner count doesn't matter."

Wishing her the best would be noble. This analysis is for us, it's not really for him (not now, anyways). I wouldn't post this as a reply to his blog entry. And while it's fine to feel bad about a loss and brood over it, if he continues to think in the same way, his interactions with women will be poisoned because he assumes lack of understanding because of her gender and because he thinks that sex degrades them. He'll need to confront these presuppositions at some near point in the future.

Sure, there are crazy people out there. But that's a small minority of the people who we're talking about. So if you don't know how lesbian relationships work, then how could you compare them meaningfully to straight relationships? And if we don't have any numbers about causes of divorce with so many possible reasons, how can we conclude that they're caused by hypergamy?

The missing factor is that children have smaller feet; their intelligence and shoe sizes increases as they grow.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/04/14 12:42 AM

TRP argues that men have to be "alpha" to maintain a relationship with women. You haven't shown that lesbian relationships work the same way: in fact, by definition, if one lesbian is looking for an alpha to take care of them, the other woman has to be the alpha. How does that work? Also, many people divorce for many reasons, including infidelity, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and lack of sex. I don't think it's hypergamous to seek divorce for those reasons.

The article doesn't explore biological causes for this, but since pointing out that a random article is biased isn't very noteworthy in itself, I assume that you want to. lesbian couples are twice as likely as gay men to end civil partnerships Why does this statistic matter? Except culture changes very slowly, so in terms of current mating expectations, I would argue it's irrelevant for anybody alive today. The impact that culture has does not shrink because it changes slowly. Culture matters. Perish the thought that any of this could have even a partial biological explanation. Note that Czyzselska is not arguing that biology doesn't play a factor.

Critiquing incorrect sentences is a good analogy. For the purposes of an English test, the fact that a sentence is incorrectly formed is enough reason to penalize the test-taker. However, we are usually interested in what specifically was wrong with the sentence. Everyone are in love with Emma Watson. It's useful to know that the problem with this sentence is that it doesn't follow subject-verb agreement.

Why shouldn't men listen to dating advice from women? The most straight-forward reason is that straight women don't have experience dating women who are looking a date with a man. Posting in a circle-jerk sub proclaiming how little you care about something shows exactly how much you care. Some TBP members protest that they don't care too much. But NotAllTheBluePillMembersAreLikeThat (which is just as valid as the commonly-employed NATRPMALT defense). What is the risk of having 100% of the male population game aware? Sure let's just ignore the actor's agency so it can fit cleanly into my numbered list /roll eyes Are you saying that if the actor chooses to drink and thus impairs their judgment, you are then morally permitted to take advantage of their lapses of judgment? Because I have another numbered list for you if you are saying that. :)
/r/PurplePillDebate22/03/14 11:21 PM
1

My issue is the word itself. Calling an act "fraud" has specific meaning; describing an act as "fraudly" is disingenuous because you can borrow all preconceived notions of fraud and apply it to that act without having to show that it is actually fraud. It's the same situation with "rape" versus "rapey".
/r/PurplePillDebate22/03/14 11:04 PM
1

Yawn. The actor is fully aware that sex is on the table (hence the date) and that alcohol will impair the judgement of the actor which the actor accepts by drinking it. Also, really, ruthless exploitation? He's not enslaving here and making here work in the cotton fields. What is the intent behind filling the empty glass? If it is to impair the other actor's judgment, regardless of whether that actor has full agency or not, the rest of the reasoning follows.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/03/14 10:53 PM
2

(paraphrased): you need to prove that it's actually predatory Filling her empty glass in this instance is an act with the intent of impairing an actor's decision-making abilities to persuade that actor to have sex with you through their possible lapse of judgment. Persuading another actor to have sex with you benefits yourself (compared to the status quo of not having sex with that actor). Given 1 and 2, filling her empty glass in this instance is an act with the intent of impairing an actor's d…

Predator is a better word because it is already defined (a person [who] ruthlessly exploits others), while "rapey" conflates the act it's describing with rape, which refers to a specific type of acts. Using the word "rapey" without clarifying that it's not rape but it isn't cool at all is confusing because it introduces ambiguity when analyzing situations. (So, if Alex's behavior was "rapey," did Alex rape Sam, or did Alex take advantage of Sam but not commit rape?)
/r/PurplePillDebate22/03/14 07:38 PM

"It" refers to rape culture. Sorry for the unclear pronoun.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/03/14 04:27 AM

Sure, I agree that it can be difficult, and that it is further compounded by people's differing innate philosophical beliefs. If you believed that the ends justified the means, you would allow white lies, while if you believed that your responsibility to other people included telling the truth, you would disallow them. If you had some other more complex view, your answer could change depending on the situation.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/14 11:58 PM
2

Then it would be those groups' responsibility to explain why "rape culture" goes beyond any of those other classifications and deserves its own special terminology. I'll admit that I'm not particularly familiar with the specific arguments, so maybe they already have, but we'd need someone knowledgeable about the subject matter to explain it to us.

All I said was that either culture contributes to something or it doesn't. That's just logic (either p is true or not(p) is true). Whether rape culture exists or not is irrelevant to my point. Essentially, you've been replying to the wrong person.

I deleted autowikibot's definition too hastily. It will be useful if the Wikipedia article changes somehow. Rape culture Rape culture is a concept that links rape and sexual violence to the culture of a society, and in which prevalent attitudes and practices normalize, excuse, tolerate, and even condone rape.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/14 11:17 PM
2

How does our culture normalize, excuse, tolerate, or condone murder? If it doesn't, then there is no murder culture. How does it normalize, excuse, tolerate, or condone torture? If it doesn't, then there is no torture culture. Suppose murder culture exists while rape culture also exists. Does it mean that rape culture is unimportant? I would argue that both would be important.

Suppose American culture contributes to America's high murder rate because it condones showing violent movies that cause some murderers' dormant instincts to murder to surface. Sure, but why would any of them be as relevant as rape culture would be if it existed?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/14 10:42 PM
1

Regardless of whether KittyHamilton's argument that rape culture exists is true or not, skippywhy's argument is false, because it is definitely the case that culture contributes to rape culture or that it doesn't; there's no "in-between."
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/14 10:40 PM
1

Either culture matters, or it doesn't. This dichotomy is valid; we don't even need a definition of rape culture to show this. If at least one of the attitudes or practices of a culture contributes to x, culture matters to x. If not, then it doesn't.

Debate requires participants to understand burden of proof. In this case, when claiming that women are more oppressed than men are because of their gender in "most" parts of the world, it is your job to: provide factual evidence (at least one example) that there are more men than women in powerful [political/financial/media] positions show how (1) shows that women are more oppressed than men are because of their gender The claims that you are making are not "self-evident" or "obvious" at all.

We're talking about the subset of males that have double standards because they agree with two thoughts: [1] a lot of people in trp use the term "men" to a specific subset of males. I.e. Something to consider is that a lot of people in trp use the term "men" to a specific subset of males. I.e. Male humans that they respect. As another Redditor explains: ... assume you were a ... rapist. What would be the most practical way to ... not get caught? It's not lurking in an alley with a knife, it would be getting your victims drunk, and then trying to create as much doubt as possible in their eyes and in observers as to what happened.

These numbers provide some evidence of success that appears a little more credible than singular anecdotes ("field reports"). TRP contends that: The historical link between sex and marriage before reliable birth control meant that women chose providers to marry and had sex with them; thus, being a provider enabled you to have sex. The introduction of relatively reliable birth control reduced the risk of pregnancy for women. With dramatically reduced worries about pregnancy, women in their twenties can be promiscuous ("riding the cock carousel"). Young women can now choose to have sex with whoever they want. Unsurprisin…

But even if we agree that such phrasing avoids the supposed personal attack, the rephrasing would now be an inaccurate description of my position. /r/PurplePillDebate31/10/13 02:38 AM

How is it a personal attack? I honestly believe that that is simplepill's intention ... You're criticizing the idea by criticizing him with your statement. Even if you find part of his argument vague (agreed) and his intentions questionable (no comment), your argument should be focused on the merits of his ideas. You could make the same point without a personal attack by saying that these ideas enable people to feel better about having sex with drunk girls.

From the TRP perspective, a shit test serves to disqualify you (the male) from consideration when you lack a backbone, whereas a compliance test serves to disqualify your targets (usually women) when they demonstrate lack of interest while escalating with compliant targets. Shit test: Woman to man: "Will you buy me a <beer/mixed drink/etc>?" Failure: buy them a drink. Woman thinks "thanks, sucker" and leaves, women think "he must not have a backbone, how unattractive!". The point being that someone can be conscious and still unable to consent. But the relevant statute says that even if Alex can't consent because of drunkenness, if Sam doesn't know that and didn't have the responsibility to know (I'm not entirely sure what "should" means in this context) , then it doesn't count as rape legally by that instance, and I don't see anything else there that would make it count as rape. To eliminate that tactic for raping social acquaintances by "teaching men not to rape" will probably send a lot of men and a few women to prison for drunken sex that the other side regretted more until our drinking culture changes. But maybe it's for the better that way.

A view that any drunk sex is rape if a participant was taken advantage of is a self-consistent view. However, the standard for whether a participant was taken advantage of is if he/she thought they were, after the fact. (This is ignoring obvious factors like power imbalances in family/workplace.) Thus, it is impossible for participants of drunken sex to be sure that they aren't committing rape, since they can't control the thought process of their partner afterwards. Combined with society's fema…

So suppose Alex and Sam have sex one night while both were drunk but not blacked out (both were enthusiastic about it that night), were they both raped? Or neither? Or is it situational? If it is situational, how do you tell? Is it based on who initiated? On how they felt before they took their first sip of alcohol? On how they feel about it the next morning? Is it their gender?

But it's weird how people don't come up with ridiculous hypotheticals for this situation. "WHAT IF BOTH PEOPLE ARE DRUNK WHEN SIGNING THE CONTRACT FOR SELLING A HOUSE?" ...
