What is 'prostitution by choice'. I'm seriously asking because the line between coerced and choice might look mighty thin from the outside

I think people often take 'points' off their desirability to be a partner because of issues and when they find someone even just kind we panic worrying when they will see the 'Real' "worse" us. It's so hindering, the stress of worrying is today the day they'll figure out I'm (insert term) and leave me.

Exactly. There was no way of winning for her. Also if she wasn't conventionally attractive, she would have a harder time getting into that world (lets face it youth + looks help) and if she is attractive men like this are more likely to abuse their power.

So many people say women sleep their way to the top but they far more often get treated like this. Scorned and discarded. This man is an asset to the people he works for and so is treated as such regardless of how awful he is. But she is now a liability who must be removed from the balance sheet.

I did it in stages. Tbh After I watched it each time I would feel nauseated and out of breath. It REALLY helped me as horrible as it was because I would get lost in the show and then afterwards be thinking 'wow that situation was so hard on her, I can't imagine going through that'. Then I would think 'hang on I DID go through that' (in a different way but the same feelings). I was able to have far more sympathy for myself and reflect on how much I have come through. It was hard for about a week …

It was really lovely. The best part was that we talked about our own accomplishments and lives, rather than gossiping about the people we had just seen. I'm really grateful that I received the opportunity for a fine education and met some great gals, but tbh now at 39 I can't remember all that much about the day to day back then and I'm really grateful I have made so many other memories.

I went to my 10 year school reunion and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. I was unpopular but luckily had a small group of similar misfits. We totally did a glow up and it was great tbh but fleeting and we left quickly to go and have dinner by ourselves. None of my small group chose to attend the 20 year because that part of our lives was a very long time ago.

No one will ever care about your money like you should. Never trust anyone else because it is easier to do so. Especially if you love them. Especially if they say they love you. I know how tempting it is to think that rich people are scumbags anyway and youre not materialistic but no one is going to save you. Statistics say we women will probably die alone. Old women are becoming homeless in much higher rates than before due to lack of funds. They have little to no power in society and are vulne…

Girl you clearly need us. It is not spoilt. Dude was looking for some casual banging. He didn't bother to get to know you beforehand or anything. At best you would have been a port in a storm. I don't drink either. The questions 'not ever?', 'not even one?', 'you just haven't tried ...', 'but this is a party!', 'did you have issues with it?' I just don't like the smell of it and it makes me feel unwell. I don't wear most perfumes for the same reason. Why would I spend money on something that makes me feel bad?

I think it also helps how self focused this is. Is anyone going to save you? No. It can be lonely and sad at first until the confidence, skills and mentors show us we have the power within us. As someone who is neuro-divergent, this sub gives me the courage to embrace the advantages but also find work-arounds to exist in this world.

That ibs where you're naked on the bathroom floor just hoping the cool cool tiles will stop the pain and roiling nausea. When I dumped an lvm it is astonishing (lol) how much my ibs calmed down. I eat very clean and exercise a fair bit because of my auto immune disease. Although this keeps my figure 'societally acceptable' most men don't like it as it isn't the 'girl that can chow down on hamburgers and yet be slim' trope. The number that are surprised that I won't go against the diet that keeps me healthy just to make their lives more convenient etc is astounding.

My ex was the exact same way. Constantly insulted the new coworker to me (at home). She was apparently dumb, fake, stupid, obsessed with herself, a skank and addicted to men and clubbing. The disdain used to drip off him. So they had a three year affair. Entire time he was telling me all this stuff. I guess he played both of us because I read his emails about me and man I sounded like the worst kind of boring arse bitch Karen.

My point was, putting us all into categories helps nobody. If you come at the women who choose this (or are thinking about it) with the blanket statement that they are all x, then since most of them are young teenagers anyway, I am not sure that they will be as responsive, as facts will be to them. The downsides to them at that age feel far away, just like the minerals mined for the laptops/phones we are typing on. We know someone had to suffer but we keep using them. The consequences to the min…

I agree. Putting other women down feels very us vs them and I think that ends up alienating women rather than opening up the dialogue. I have to admit if I was in uni and I could help pay for my bills etc posting bikini pics, I might have been tempted. I came from nothing and was out on my own by 17. There were some 'extra' looks in the 90s but it was from women usually that you expected that from. Like if Aunt Karen was the 'fancy' one of the family she'd be wearing the outfits, smelling of christmas perfume (ie the fancy stuff you got as gifts at christmas) and wearing the full on Mary Kay look. That was her 'thing'. Teenage makeup (and I was one) was great if you were the girls at school who could apply it with some skill. 99% of us could not. The idea of 'blending' wasn't as big as it is…

I wrote out my story on there then deleted it. I was her and all it got me for 7 years of being the 'perfect wife' (omg I was so pathetic back them) was being cheated on for three years because according to him I wasn't 'exciting' because I had 'mothering responsibilities' (to OUR son) and couldn't be 'spontaneous'. Dog foster carers (as one) are amazing for this btw. We know which dogs (not just breeds) would suit an apartment and you can have a trial period. Dogs are deterrents. Ive never felt so safe after having one. I'm allergic to dogs so that part sucks but the feeling no one can come within my walls without my girl knowing is so comforting. After my precious baby girl goes I'll probably get another staffy. They have been the sweetest dogs so far but I've seen tough looking men cross the street when …

I was told growing up to be thin and soft and any grazes or callouses would make a boy not want me or a man not want to marry me. I hid away so I could climb trees and play in the dirt, talking and singing songs to any frogs or lizards that crossed my path. It made me feel shame for such a long time and I married early probably just to show that I 'could'. I felt wrong for many years until I got older and decided to do what I wanted. I now have a frog pond and lizard warming rocks. People here t…

If you're into historical romance "The Spitfire" by Christi Caldwell might be up your alley. She's a former courtesan that is trying to start a music hall and he's a conservative duke she finds beaten in an alleyway. It's worth reading all the way through because there are twists and it is a lot more complex than the usual.

Im in nsw and rents here are horrific they're the highest in the country. In my friend's area -which is deemed to be 'ecomically depressed'- they pay 450 a week for a fibro shack that literally floods when it rains. This is depressingly common and if one complains to the Tribunal (designed to protect tenants) they are seen as troublemakers. With vacancy rates at 3% it is a landlord's market. For jobseekers, if they leave a city (higher rents and more jobs) for a cheaper area, the govt can cut th…

I remember there were derro areas no one wanted to live in growing up in nsw. Now those areas are 600k plus for an old fibro shit shack (4 hours from syd) Who the hell can afford those? Im glad I had one kid who is 18 because starting over with a baby would be such a burden if I was renting. That sounds so awful but we all know how single mothers (ESP if theyre on centrelink) are treated by real estates.

The old farmer behind me (who is usually absent) rescues old racehorses and they are usually scarred and sad with ribs showing. I think deep in my soul, this is why I had one child. I love being a mother but I knew the more children I had the more anchors I would have to a situation. Like renting a home with one child vs four or daycare fees. Relying or hoping to rely on another person for the equal care of one child is hard enough but more? I just couldn't do it. There's a part of me that is wistful for more kids and I think will always be, but I'd rather not take the chance.

As much as I dislike the idea that people don't get much justice if any from this world, being bitter has a hold on your heart that it is hard to shake. This is so true. It is difficult when one is taught how worthless they are day after day. However with time and a lot of help (sadly which people who have been abused often do not have) the old patterns of thinking can be changed. He was the sweetest, friendliest dog I have had the pleasure of loving but damn everyone crossed the road when they saw him. I felt very powerful walking him. I'd probably get another dog that breed for that reason. He gave me real comfort living alone.

This can also include: Telling you how much he would love for you to meet his family/friends but you don't (or he introduces you by your name and not as his partner). Talking about how he hasn't thought about marriage before but 'can see himself settling down with you' and yet no plans occur. Speaks about a future wedding and how happy his family will be and yet seemingly forgets the next day. Talks about the future but they always have a catch ie "you'd be the type of girl I'd like to marry and…

I'm going to say this with all the kindness in the World. He ignores you when you are out and with friends so that if other women come onto him he has the excuse that "things haven't been working out with you for ages". These men think ahead. He's different when you're alone so you keep on doing the nice things for him and no other woman sees it. Now, when he finds someone else (and deffo has someone else in mind) you will go crying to your mutual friends that you "never saw it coming" and they …

She's taking him back, probably going to have the second kid which she thinks will change him and then when he sees an easier life for him, in some way, will leave her to do everything and take the kids to be the fun parent every second weekend. His corpse would be less work. I mean you'd need to cling wrap it and spray some freshener every so often.

As someone was was in the above, I knew it was terrible, but I overlooked a lot of things just so I could get through the little kid years. I had one and stopped because I knew nothing would change. Lots of us were just biding our time. It's a shitty situation. I would love the stats on how many women like me chose to remarry and have more kids. I can't imagine it at this point tbh.

I knew this dude for ages and he seemed so together, so normal. He seemed to think this was perfectly alright behaviour. Mindboggling.

I knew one who got his rocks of building things and then cumming into the crevices the owners wouldn't see. He told me it just felt so good to know that his semen was there and that the owners never knew. I went 'oh really' and 🏃 🏃block and delete. He faked being normal so well.

Syd dudes are often another level of madness. 😳 How is a caterers assistant living in syd? Has he got 30 flatmates who take turns sleeping?

Therapy, time and staying single for a while. Lots of us I am sure get into new relationships quickly that seem far more promising because we are told being alone is scary. You see the alone old lady at the shops and think 'what if that is me?' I decided to take a lonnng break from dating after a breakup and honestly for a while I was a wreck. Deleted love songs/stories etc and sobbed and sobbed about what if I died alone. I mean I was a wreck. It was really hard. I felt broken. I didn't even li…

Im 38 and dudes I know who are OVER 50 arent sure if they want kids yet because they aren't ready to settle down. My friend (38) contacted me about how this women he was seeing was asking him if he wanted a family and he was talking to me about it. He was explaining how we were both so young and he couldnt even think about kids or a home for another ten years because it was such an adult step. Not doing them, thinking about thinking about IF he wanted them as a part of his life in the future. Hi…

Same thing. I loved my bff like she was a sister. But it was so hard to watch 10 years plus of the same choices. We still talk but its really shallow. I feel sad about it.

I'd rather shit in my hands and clap rather then argue/justify/communicate with these people. Block and delete. I don't care what makes them act this way. Once apon a time I would've. I would have been like oh no theyre so 😥 because mean women and life have made them sad. Now I figure if I had to pay for my own therapy, I'm not wasting those positive results wading back into the pig pen.
