Wow! This thread has had so much more attention than I ever thought! Thank all of you for your imput and for being patient with me. Unfortunately, I don't think I can keep up with replying to all of it! But I am still going to try to read everything. You all have given me alot of insight to this movement, and I really appreciate how welcome you all made me feel. I wish more communities reacted to outsiders as openly and as patiently as you have with me. There are issues here I never even heard o…

I am still reading all the replies. Haha Im getting a little lost now trying to figure out what goes to what! You are all making very good points, and I really appreciate this. I am finding alot of these issues are things I agree with, and some things you are bringing up I didn't even know was a problem! Thank you all for everything.

The hospital I work at is a safe haven. We just had a baby like that. That is rough though.

Mental health in general is shit in this country.

That can't be right. I know people who are raising children and not collecting any child support from anyone? How is that legal? The "Plegal paternal surrender" sounds terrifying. I can hardly imagine getting pregnant in the first place...I can't imagine what it would feel like to know that you are alone. But then again, I really can't conceive of what the other side feels like either. It's not for being ignorant. I have a good idea of motherhood and maternal bonding etc etc as a basis. I'm havi…

I don't think anybody should hit anybody. Women DO hit though. I agree with that.

You don't have to be nasty. I'm coming here of my own free will to understand this stuff.

To be fair, we have less options than you think. It SEEMS like alot of options, but 90% is hormones, just in different packaging. If you don't want to take hormones, your options aren't much more than men. Barrier, scoop everything out, or have a piece of metal shoved in your cervix. I've personally known alot of men who just leave the family anyway and don't pay child support. What is the view on this in this particular discussion?

I am reading all the replies, even if I'm not replying. Thank you everyone for being so patient and frank with me.

Thats why I chose this (subreddit?). There was a different one that was kinda....nerve wracking. Very patronizing. Ive also looked at other forums that were just very intimidating, and angry and very scary. I was obviously going to the wrong places.

I'm not trying to patronize with this one. Is it women who see you as weak, men who see you as weak, your yourself who sees you as weak? Or all of it?

I had a feeling that's how it would be. :) Thank you for giving me confidence in this. I know the 'scary stuff' is mostly people on the fringe, but when it's all you are seeing and you don't understand half of what the issues are, it's hard. :s

THAT does worry me, sometimes. I think thats a little bit excessive though. I do appreciate the affordable care act, and I really hope it's not totally revoked, which some republicans want. It ensures birth control has to be covered by my insurance. I don't expect free birth control, but if it wasn't covered by my insurance I wouldn't be able to afford it at all.

Thats okay. Thank you for linking the source. I appreciate that. :) "There is a lot of talk about killing all men in feminist forums. Your point?" Thats why I don't identify as a feminist, but I know that there is enough decent people behind the movement. MR is very new, and there is not as much as feminism. The scary stuff stands out when there is so little else. That's why I am here now, asking about it. I don't want to judge based solely on the things about it that scare me, but can you blame…

What do men want done with reproductive rights, ideally? It would actually be very nice if men had more say in it. Right now it's very scary to do alone. These days my boyfriend (By single I meant never married) makes an effort to be involved in my decisions about contraception. He even went to the doctor with me to talk about the different methods. I like that. Why don't more men show that interest in family planning? If they did, maybe more people would be open to men having more say in reprod…

Okay. That is very fair. Why the hell is there still a draft in place?! Why is this even a thing? Why am I 23 and am only just hearing about this? Do they come to your house, or send a letter...is that what those recruitement officers are doing at the highschools?

Why DON'T men seek help for crappy relationships? I don't get that.

It's hard to come up with specific questions, when the whole thing is a little bit baffling to begin with. Ive tried to research and understand what I can, but alot of it just contrasts to what Ive grown up knowing and experiencing. I'm trying. I want to try. Nobody should be hurt by sexism.

I promise I'm not trolling. I'll go point by point like you. My friends are almost exclusively men, and I trust them. I have to trust men because if it comes down to physically defending myself I don't believe I would be capable. I'm tiny, a little over 100 lbs. Men are physically intimidating to me. If women try to attack men, they don't have as much success, right? I know I wouldn't get far. Men can defend themselves. Now, I have seen women get violent. I'm not saying women are peaceful. I saw…

I understand some things. I understand the things about parental rights. I understand the imbalance of punishment for male offenders for crimes. I understand how breast cancer is given much more focus than prostrate cancer. I understand the pressure of masculinity that the media proposes. There are also problems I really just don't understand. Like domestic violence towards men in heterosexual relationships. It happens, I imagine so, but then why is it underreported like it is? Why do some of th…
