Number one, she’s gone and she’s never coming back. She’s moving forward, however misguided, but that’s what is happening. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but you’re going to have to accept this. The best course for you right now is to stop looking at any and all social media involving her, or the new guy. Work on yourself, you are worth it

Have your phone ready to record everything. It sounds like the two of them think they’re about to intimidate you into agreeing to something you don’t want to. Inform the mediator that you do not want the boyfriend in the room during your discussions with your ex. If the mediator or the boyfriend doesn’t respect your wishes, tell them that you feel under duress and request a court date.

Very true. If I happen to find a woman that I feel is right for me, so be it, but I will never get legally married by the state again. Hormones can be taken care of with a few hundred bucks and access to the Internet. No shame in that game. A few hours of fun on Saturday night, then “get out of my house”. Honestly, when you run the numbers you’re getting a better deal!!

I don’t understand how there could be a complete no contact order when you two have children together. What about getting on a court approved third-party texting app like Our Family Wizard? Everything is officially documented, and I highly doubt that civil communication regarding the kids or exchange of parenting time would be seen as a violation. What if there were an emergency? The judges no contact order could put the children in real danger. Hang in there brother, things will work out.

Yes, I would simply ignore her. Is there anything that can be gained? In my case at least, my answer would be no. You’re moving on, and she is seeing/sensing you doing so. This reeks of narcissism on her part. She’s likely trying to reel you back in emotionally or control you in some way. Maybe she’s just drunk, who knows. She’s not your problem anymore.

I got the “please don’t tell anyone” either. I felt isolated and depressed for months. Meanwhile, she’s gabbing with all her girlfriends about it. Just another example of her complete lack of respect for me. You can tell whoever you like. Take care of yourself, and stop worrying about her

This behavior is unacceptable. For some reason, there are women out there who feel they can get away with this. Treat her the same way you would expect to be treated if you were drinking and violent around the kids. You know darn right well you’d already be in jail. There’s no reason why she shouldn’t be

The proper reply to “who hurt you“ is “toxic women have hurt me, that’s their fault, not mine” Women can complain about men all they want, and it’s accepted without question in our society. If a guy has had multiple bad experiences with different women though, he is probably to blame and should just keep his mouth shut.

Bro, I get it. I’m trying but I’m failing miserably. Trying to decide if I should stick it out or go to the hospital tonight. I’m feeling like I’m not right

It’s just so dark, dark dark dark. I’m really leaning on you bros tonight. I’m hoping in a few days I’ll be OK, but I don’t know, I’m hanging in there.

Well I thought I was done crying for the day, but then came your post. It’s OK, it’s a good cry. Knowing that there is a community of guys out there who have felt what I felt been through what I’m going through is so valuable to me.

I messaged with my therapist this morning. She said it’s OK to have a sad day. it’s OK to have a day that I just can’t do it. She said snuggle up in the bed, watch some fun videos, make some good food. It’ll be OK. And I really do believe her

I’m just trying to be strong for my two daughters. They mean more to me than anything else in the world, and I want to keep up my relationship with them. Luckily they are not seeing any of this.

Thanks for replying with those kind words. Also, thank you for your service and sacrifice. I know it’ll be OK, I’ll settle into a new life eventually. It’s just pretty scary. I am lucky to have met a guy that went through a divorce about a year ago. He is an amazing support, told me I can call him day or night, whatever I need. I didn’t know this dude at all six months ago, and now he’s one of my closest confidants

Kids waking up sick does not constitute an emergency. If it happens during her parenting time, she is responsible for dealing with it. This would be a really quick text exchange with my ex and I on Our Family Wizard. The drama only goes on as long as you entertain it.

We wouldn’t be here if all of us weren’t hurt by the person who is supposed to be our life partner. That’s kind of a silly question. What I’m talking about is guys taking care of themselves. If someone doesn’t want to be with us , then we shouldn’t want to be with them. It’s a destructive mindset to live in the past. My message is a positive one, of self-care, personal recovery and growth. What’s done is done, time to move on for ourselves and our kids. Relegate the negative person in our lives …

I thinking you’ve got it twisted. She’s not the woman for you. You deserve better than her.

I’m sorry, but to all the guys saying that she’s your best friend, stop. Just stop She is absolutely not your best friend, and if she’s letting other guys put their dicks into her, she’s not even a casual friend. She’s an enemy, a hostile actor who is causing you to fall apart and lose your sense of self worth. You have to learn let go of her like she let go of you. Start working on yourself This will only ruin you if you let it

Please know this, not only you, but every guy that’s replying to hear. We are all going through the same shit, we are brothers, we take care of one another. This will not break us. We are going to be ok.

As others have said, you shouldn’t have signed anything away. Also, you are likely entitled to 50% of her retirement. Take it!

Not true. Men have no protection from it. Any woman can walk into family court without an attorney, tell the judge “she’s scared“ and there’s all kinds of restraining orders and warnings from the judge. Men do the same thing and they’re told to ignore her, to deal with it.

Brother, she let another guy put his dick in her. Stop thinking that she is ever going to be your friend or ally, she has proven that she is not. Go after her with your lawyer for everything she has. Stop being led by your emotions

I absolutely do not think you’re an idiot. Brother, you’re going through a really tough time and you’re reacting to it as best you can, I get that. My advice comes from a place of experience. I tried to hold on to a girl that didn’t want me anymore, and would’ve been a lot easier if I just would’ve let go and started working in a direction that benefited myself and my kids. That was my rationale for giving you that bit of admittedly tough love.
/r/Divorce_Men27/10/22 10:29 PM

Dude, stop it. This tramp is getting dicked from every direction, and you’re enabling her. Get a lawyer now and go after what you want for yourself and your kids. Snap out of it!!!!! She’s toxic and is using you, while f’ing everything under the sun.

I get that it’s tough, but just know that there’s millions of women out there who are not cheaters, and would treat you much better than your current one. Dump this chick.

I’ll never understand why men stay with cheating women. Brother, someone else is giving it to her. Time for you to move on. You don’t deserve to be treated this way. She’s only giving you hope of a reconciliation because she wants the stability of you being at the house while she gets her brains banged out by (very likely) multiple guys. Get a lawyer and serve her with papers. Time for her to lose the security blanket.
/r/Divorce_Men08/10/22 07:47 PM

Nope, not at all. But she can go into court and say that you yelled at her and they’ll take your visitation away. Isn’t that nice?
/r/Divorce_Men06/10/22 05:22 PM
6

Unfortunately, despite what a lot of females say, this is the most common reason for men abandoning their children, or not using their visitation. At some point the female has been so horrible to them that the best interest of the child is to not have them see the confrontations. This is yet again another thing that women can completely get away with, and us guys would wind up in prison for.

I understand what you’re saying. It’s just been my experience that having a solid plan on what you would like to do with her shows confidence, it’s attractive. Women are less likely to go for an unorganized, or indecisive man.

You’re 21 man, work on you, your education, and start building your own life. This isn’t something you need to be directly involved in. Form your own relationship with each of them.

I’m going to give you some tough love here. Brother, your situation is not amicable. That disgusting female is not only disrespecting you, but putting your child at risk for severe psychological damage. It could mess them up for the rest of their life if she’s doing what you say she’s doing and they see something. Stop letting her walk all over you, she’s only doing it because you’re allowing it. Stand up for your kid, and yourself while you’re at it. Let her know that her behavior is unacceptab…

No, he needs to have a solid plan on what they’re going to do. A vague “let’s grab some coffee“ could also mean a ride out to the backwoods. I would say another option (outside of my previous reply) would be to wait for a big local event to come up, mention that he’s going, but he doesn’t have anyone to go with. Hand her a card with his number on it and say “it would be cool if we could go together, let me know” and promptly leave. Still, the old guy in me [43/M] just hates the fact that she wor…

I’m gonna be really honest about this .. She’s smiling at you because she’s an employee, trained in customer service. Thats what she’s supposed to do. There’s probably lots of guys who come into the store and love chatting with this girl. If you just go for broke and ask her out, you run the serious risk of having this blow up in your face, and then you’re gonna have to find another Home Depot which is more of a pain in the ass than finding another girl. For heaven’s sake don’t bring her any gif…

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through a hard time brother. If I could lighten the mood little bit though, you got the wedding ring back, she gave it to you and legally it’s considered a gift so go sell it! My STBXwife’s wedding band is probably worth over $5000. I wish she would do the same as yours!

Co-parenting, besides being a stupid term, doesn’t really exist. It’s just a way for the mother to still set the rules, make the decisions, and keep you under her thumb. If you disagree with her, you’re being a bad co-parent. I demanded a parallel parenting model for my kids. The STBX and I exchange relevant details and schedules, mostly via email. Other than that, when they come to my house they cross an international border into a country with very few agreements with the other. My STBX raged …

If she comes home with another guy do this - Remain calm, smile, give a little chuckle and say “wow, another one huh? You’re a busy girl” the problem will then work itself out the door

Good! Stay strong. Don’t ever leave your home. She is ending it, so she can figure out a new place to live.

NO, HELL NO!! Brother, shake it off for a second. Think about this. She’s the one who wants to end the relationship, she’s the one who doesn’t want you anymore, or the life you’ve built together. Tell her to pack her stuff and you’ll hold the door for her. I don’t know why a lot of men feel that they should be inconvenienced because of the woman’s decision that the marriage is over. If she wants to leave, then let her leave. You don’t need to make things easier for her. She’s not going to be you…

I’ll say, this has many similarities to my situation, but without the alpha-female factor. The TL;DR we share, is shared by many of us on here. Always complaining, never saying sorry, and nothing is her fault. She’s achieved some moderate success, and now she “deserves better“ She has checked out of the marriage, and is done with you. That’s all we need to know. You do what is good for you brother, go see a lawyer and make sure that yourself, and your daughter are taken care of. Don’t let her ro…

Hey brother, I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through a bad time. You have to approach her with kindness, honesty, and patience. If you’re being honest and true with her, she should come around. The most important thing right now is taking care of your child, so focus on that.

This. So much this. Stop living in the past. That life is over. She’s gone, and she’s never coming back. I’m sorry that you’re having such a hard time, we all have emotions that we need to process, but you not taking care of yourself is absolutely unacceptable. There’s a saying, “if you find yourself going through hell, keep going”. Pick up a new hobby, get to the gym, find a divorce support group in your area. You owe it to your kids to be the best version of you that is possible. This woman di…

It’s been just about a month since she told me that there’s no way to reconcile. I knew this was probably coming for a while though, and I had gotten into therapy six months ago to try and change my behaviors and way of thinking. At first things were really friendly between us, and it looked like it would stay that way, but I am still really angry at her for not giving us one more shot, I felt like she was giving up on us. It was those feelings of mine that caused us to have several arguments wh…

What’s done is done, you can’t go back. I took my STBX for granted and did not treat her well and after 14 years of marriage I lost her, along with our 2 kids. I’m taking 80% of the blame, with her 20% being a failure to communicate with me as to how unhappy she was becoming when we could’ve salvaged things. I feel horribly guilty, but all I can do is try to treat her nicely going forward in hopes to have a good co-parenting relationship, and possibly even remain sort-of friends. She’s not curre…

She’s a cheater. You deserve better. Lawyer up, and start thinking only of your kids and yourself. The money you’ll lose is well worth it to get you and your kids into a more stable, healthy situation. There are lots of wonderful things ahead, including another girl who is 1000X the person the current one is. It’s going to be a long and difficult journey, but you’ll get to where you want to be.

I find it to be such a contradiction when females will tell a guy what a horrible father he is, how mentally abusive he is, and even that they’re afraid for their safety to be around them. Then in the next breath offer 50% visitation. If I’m such a dangerous horrible person, why would she want the kids with me so much?

The emotional cheating is really worse than the physical part. I don’t care how many D’s she’s had in her, but I do care about her lying about it and seeking mental comfort outside of our relationship. That’s not what we agreed to when we got married

The STBX and I have had a few of those talks. Some went well, some went not so well as a lot of emotions are involved. We have agreed to be patient and not judge each other as we are going to have our good and bad days. We both hope to keep a civil relationship afterwards in order to support the kids. We don’t have a bunch of things to argue about splitting up. We are upper middle class, and both gainfully employed, so no alimony or going after each other’s retirement accounts. We both agree tha…

My story is similar to yours, but my kids are younger 8 & 12F. We have pledged to each other that we will be amicable and always put the kids first. My STBX told me she’s done two weeks ago, but I have known for a long time that this was probably going to happen. It’s hard watching my STBX walk around seemingly carefree, but she’s had a lot longer to process this than I have, so I’m really trying to be kind to myself and give my brain the time it needs before I make any decisions, or say anythin…

Honest to goodness, it doesn’t matter to me if she’s having sex with someone else, I’m done with her. It does however affect the credibility I give her going forward. If she’s lying about this, how can I trust her with anything else she says or does? Especially when the kids are involved.
/r/Divorce_Men24/08/22 11:20 PM

Granted, but if she did cheat like I suspect that she did, she has put my health at risk. I have an absolute right to know.

I agree, and it won’t change anything I plan on doing. But for me, being able to confirm her infidelity would shift the narrative. This would allow me an advantage in retaining some of our mutual friends, and would call her character into question even amongst her family. I’m not trying to be punitive, but I feel I deserve to know the truth.
