I think this is more of an American/Anglosphere problem; I haven't faced these issues in other cultures. In the US however, where I've intermittently spent my 20s and 30s, women have straight up told me that (a) they didn't want to be platonic friends if I wasn't interested in anything more because we were all busy professionals, they had limited free hours each week, and those had to be used to find a mate. Also, (b) a few women have been superbly offended that after 3 months of being friends w…

I only want a man to make the move of asking me out if we have prior history and I already know him (and like him of course). Maybe we work together or both do some kind of class together, etc. But I'm quite "old fashioned" and as I said, never go to bars and I've never used a dating app. But but but....we shouldn't shit where we eat, or dip our pen in the company ink. Nah he doesn't if he's into you Then life is good for you, and you don't need to worry about other women and that they might be sending him pics. Hey sis, I don't play the online dating game, but if you're gonna play it, then these are the rules. I didn't make them, but I am aware of them somewhat.

I find it annoying that guys will often ask for pictures now when talking to a girl. Like that shouldn’t be normalized. Well, your competition (other women) are giving pictures so if you don't, then the guy moves to another woman. We all wanted a sex-positive world. Now we have it, and we've got to live with it.

It’s sometimes painful for me to see women making the same mistakes over and over again. Yeah, I have women friends who repeatedly go for the same types of guys, and repeatedly get the same terrible results, and remain shocked at that. At some point, I've had to stop advising them and supporting them through more of their self-generated pain. Adults gotta learn, you know. Goddamn, two adults reasonably agreeing & disagreeing on Reddit. Must be a blue moon or super moon occurance ;)

I’m not taking offense at all. Fair enough. I apologize for my earlier snark. I’m just saying that some women are incredibly naive and continue to give chances. So do some men. Some people are incredibly naive. Some are incredibly guarded. No one really knows where the theoretical correct middle ground is, especially when it comes to areas of deep vulnerability such as sex and relationships. This is where therapy helps. Many were socialized that way. And when they don’t, they are told to stop be…

Wow, vicariously taking offense, are we today? OP: I don't think casual sex is fun even the first time. I've had sex w 20+ men and only 3 could make me orgasm. Response: "Slow learner"....Just don't fuck outside of a relationship. It's pretty simple. OP: Yeah. I get that now. Despite her experiences, OP has a mature and sensible outlook on relationships: Some people are good, some people are bad, and we just need to vet better to find someone with similar values. I think "men are not concerned with being good people and will do evil shit to me" is not a lesson that was easy for me to learn. I've found that whenever I find myself categorizing all (insert massive proportion of human population here) as being (insert negative attribute), it's usually because I'm selecting for that specific attribute in some way. Maybe I was a slow learner w this particular lesson bc it sucks and doesn't allign w my experience w women/ humans as a whole. You are right here. …

If you can replace women easily with a swipe then more power to you, but it has been my real life experience that most men cannot do this. But that's only online, and this is a well-known phenomenon. In online dating, it is far easier for women to find dates than for men to find dates. Nothing shocking in that. Just because shit is dirt cheap in Walmart doesn't mean I should spend my money there.

Yeah, all of those jive with me except for the sex/relationships part. I was in a near 2-decade relationship, and now coming out of it, that aspect doesn't interest me at all. Oh, I agree with a lot of what you're saying. It is rare to find the friendships I have right now, and it's both a matter of finding the right people, and then also managing those relationships. For example, I'm solid friends with A and with B; they are both amazing men. However, the A and B don't get along with each other, and I don't know why. Yeah, I have been really lucky. Hey man, I don't understand your world, and you won't understand mine/ours (including u/Metalloid_Space here, though I can't speak for her). Every boyfriend I had gets the same ones FTO me. Happened to buy it for my dad for Xmas. My mom loves it so she buys it for him too. See, this isn't surprising at all. However, ask the guys you know if they would buy the same perfume that their mom used, for their GFs. That never happens.

Contrastingly the way a father loves a daughter is not too different than the way he loves women. I just posted this elsewhere in this thread, and then read your comment. I agree, in that women (seem to) want the same kind of love and protection in their mates, that they received as children from their fathers. Random side-note: Never heard a man say, "Ooh, she was wearing the same perfume that my mom wore....so sexy", whereas I've heard the contrasting comment from more than one woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/20 03:34 AM

The corollary is that women (appear to) go for men who love them as their father did. So while both men and women want to be loved as their opposite gender parent loved them, perhaps only women get that and men do not.

women still tend to be productive citizens who work in caring professions and look after the elderly and disabled among their families. Because they still get something from it. Men don't. Instead of insulting folks, and making this about usVthem, maybe realize that we're all trying to maximize our happiness and decrease our misery. Men have far more to lose (there are far more men at the bottom of the pyramid; far more men who are homeless or behind bars), and so if they have little to gain, th…

People with post-graduate degrees are much more likely than their less-educated peers to be promiscuous, and this is especially true of women. Over 2% of women with a…

Just giving birth isn't enough, and loyalty doesn't come into it at all. I see what you mean; I can clarify. Men rarely assess a woman for 'mother'ing skills: being able to nurture/love, and discipline a child, and set boundaries. Loyalty comes in this way: men want to be sure they are providing for their own child, and not that of another, for 20 years till that child becomes an adult. That's how loyalty comes in.

Gender shaming is fairly common (of women, or of men), so I'm not surprised at OP's attempts. It's all fair game. Women are primarily assessed as mothers child-bearers, so they are assessed on factors critical for the first few years. Men are primarily assessed as child-protectors, so they are assessed on factors relevant across almost two decades, till the child is no longer a child, ie an adult. You can protect/ provide by being socially skilled, or by being supremely intelligent, or by being …

Rejection is better than regret Did a low-intensity cold approach during the day. Got shot down politely. Still, all I was telling myself was that the last time I saw a woman reading a big book, and I didn't approach her, I regretted it for days. This time, I approached a similar person reading a big book, and even though she shot me down, at least I don't have the regret of....she could have been The OneTM , if only I had approached her. All men and women grow out of their party years. We aren’t 21 forever. I don’t shy away from a guy who partied hard in his early 20’s, so why is it such an issue that a girl had fun and enjoyed her life as a kid? Hmm. If you don’t hold yourself to that same standard, it’s not fair to expect it of the women you want to date. Yeah, I grew up in poverty, and started working when I was 14. By the time I was 20, I was working 60 hours a week. When I hit 30, I was financially supporting older folks in…

You don’t speak for all men. There are plenty who seek and desire the LTR only. You saying otherwise is asinine, just as I cannot speak for all women. Dude here. Where the bloody hell do I find women for LTRs, who aren't settling for me just because they are done with their party years, and now want a stable dude? I know there are nice women out there. They are all either married, or in the library :(

If she is interested, she will make it possible - and easy - for you. If she is not interested, she will flirt with you. The same way she flirts with other customers. If you cant get a conversation and a number on your second chance I wouldnt try again though Yeah, go with this.

Hmm, okay. Yeah, yours is a perplexing situation. One recommendation is that you find someone trusted, who you know can be blunt with you, and ask them for advice insight. Advice is, what should I do?, whereas insight is what you do think is happening?. I think the issue might be above our paygrade. Also, are you seeing a therapist? Maybe you should. That can be helpful.

Ah, those two seem like idiots. Sorry you had to endure them. These sound like the worst of the bunch; trying to understand your failures by looking at the worst guys you've met isn't helpful. Do you have examples where the guys seemed legit okay, but you were still unable to build a connection? Because then you're starting with good raw materials, but still not getting to the desired results. Those are the ones you need to consider: what went wrong there?

I liked him so much that I settled for this Hmm, I'm the kind of guy who won't sleep with someone unless we have a deep friendship. There are fewer of us out there, but you need to look for us. If you hang around crap guys hoping one of them turn into gold, (a) that won't happen, (b) it'll make you bitter, and (c) when a decent bloke actually sees you, he'll walk away because he won't see the best parts of you. …

Virgin shaming is a gendered insult, and is leveled only at men. That person wasn't trying to add relevant information to the topic, s/he was insulting the OP. Your attempt to legitimize and rationalize a gendered insult is fascinating, given the topic of the OP.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/19 12:50 AM

Jeez, we're going around in circles, so I'll re-state my point (and hope this clarifies the issue) and be done. The question is about insecurities. If the route out of insecurities was to consult a book of facts, then few of us would be insecure. But reality rarely matters when it comes to deep internalization of personal insecurity, especially when fueled by a common insult.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/19 09:44 PM

Likewise, a guy should not take dick-related insults from women who haven't seen his dick as anything but nonsense. Any smart person will take most insults as nonsense, valid or not; any stupid person will be offended, valid reason or not. The point is that women do insult men without knowing facts, and that the insult tends to be that they have small dicks, and not that they have large ones. It's not a cool detached analysis from men's locker rooms, but rather a social put-down.

the dick size one is the weirdest to me. You don't need to know about a man's housing situation to mock him for being a momma's basement dweller. Likewise, for dick size. It's an insult; facts don't matter. Just as women get insulted as sluts, even if they are Virgin Mary 2019 TM.

I just wanted to point this out because it is a common reasoning error people make. Women make a similar mistake when they say "I want a guy who likes me enough to ask me out". By making this their litmus test, they are selecting for guys that frequently approach women and might have just seen the woman as an easy, low risk target. This entire comment fascinates me! Do you have more examples, because both of these make so much sense? So there have to be others, but I cannot think any up. Halp!

Am I weird for thinking sex isn't a casual scenario, no wonder no one is happy. In the end sexual liberation didn't do much for us, it didn't topple capitalism, it didn't make us love each other, it didn't end racism. All it did was make men and women bitter, create some weird consent architecture, women a joke, basically destroy marriage, and increase single motherhood to 40%. Well, this is depressing. Thanks for ruining my weekend bro.

Man, that is a thought-provoking question. After munching on this a bit, my best response is that you meet a therapist as a means to an end, say, as a way to be a better person to your SO. Also, no matter what, in terms of your life priorities, gun to your head & forced to choose, your SO comes before your therapist. Plus, there is a required set of professional guidelines that your therapist adheres to (or should). These reasons would not apply to a prostitute. For example., one would be hard-p…

Men do care about the woman's money making abilities because we do live in a society where double income is necessary. Didn't you just answer your question? When it comes to income-earning (potential), TRP & RPW is based on the living sitation in developed countries. However, if you are in a developing country, then more than just look nice and sweet, you also need to be able to contribute financially to the household. A one-person income doesn't cut it in many cases in a country like yours, esp…

The problem is humans are not so psychologically simplistic as to categorize them based on this sort of criteria. Too many things can affect our mood which alters our "personality" type. A little alcohol and inhibitions drop. A little stress and again were different. You're talking about 'state' vs 'trait' in personality characteristics. Sauce: Psychology 101.

To be perfectly honest it sounds like the female therapist(s) you're describing is just a bad therapist. And bad therapists abound. It's incredibly easy to become a therapist, so my recommendation is to look for someone who has been treating patients for 10 years or more. Even if they started off as idiots, in 10 years, you hope that they have learned something. Also useful is to look at their education: is it an LICSW, or a PhD. Age, years of experience, and education are no guarantee of wisdom…

"you are not going to judge her, like a beta male would". I disagree. Women want to be judged. You must treat them like children so you judge her and enforce boundaries. I think there is a nuanced difference here. She needs a cuddly toy to hug, to be able to sleep at night. You're mildly amused, but don't judge. After she's done something really nice for you, you buy her a larger teddy. She needs to drink 1/2 a bottle of wine every night to calm herself after her sales/retail job. You're stoical…

Source, from 2007: https://www.craigslist.org/about/best/pit/453035602.html?lang=en&cc=us It seems like success with women is equal to spending half of your life working to create a giant illusion, something vastly tiring and annoying, while sacrificing your own true self and your own interests. We construct our lives around nest-building. We're like male birds building nests and showing them off to attract mates. It's pathetic.

Most people are just fucking boring to be around. This is absolutely correct. The more you develop and grow, the fewer people that you can find, to engage yourself (your mind) with. If I may ask, do you live in a rural/suburban area, or in a metropolis? Or somewhere in between? The smartest people I know tend to move to crowded megacities, just to increase the chances of meeting the few really interesting people out there.

"ShowerThoughts" had seemingly deleted my post (or it never got any traction), but this is something I've always believed in. Close relationships with the 'other' decreases distrust (xenophobia, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc). However, gender relations are the exception - knowing the 'other' increases mistrust. The more you interact with women, the more likely you are to become RP. The more women interact with men, the more they hate them.

Sorry that you have to start all over again; it can feel terribly shitty to be in this situation. The only consolation you can find here is that, things could have been worse. You could have found out about this after having two kids, where she decided to be a home-maker. Then you'd lose a chunk of your $150k money, as well as access to your kids. It wasn't in his pocket. I was scrolling down looking for another person who saw this. Yeah, his response time was far too short. Anywho, shit went from 0 to 100 pretty quick.

Haha, sure man, you're welcome. I was downvoted to hell, so I'm glad it helped the original poster, ie You! Female ENTJs and ESTJs are very rare, but they exist. The lone ESTJ female that I know IRL (22 y), sometimes feels that she is not seen as feminine, or as a woman. That makes her sad, but on the outside, she is very cold about her fears and insecurities. Currently in a relationship with an introverted, pencil-thin, hippie, weed-chugging painter who looks like Johnny Depp, with dreadlocks a…

Check the MBTI. Read descriptions for ESTJs and ENTJs. I know some and from your post, it describes her to a T. ENTJ Source: http://www.truity.com/personality-type/ENTJ/relationships ENTJs are direct and commanding communicators, often with a clear idea of what needs to be done and and a take-charge attitude toward organizing people and projects. ...They communicate their vision and their plan to implement it in a logical, task-oriented way. ENTJs see flaw in ideas and plans quickly and give cri…

This seems relevant: In experiments, male adolescent monkeys also prefer to play with wheeled vehicles while the females prefer dolls — and their societies say nothing on the matter. and "boys with more male-typical digit ratios showed greater visual interest in a ball compared to a doll...At just 3 months old, the newborn boys already fixed their eyes on the toys associated with their gender" Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/24/gender-toys-children-toy-preferences-hormones_n_182772…

Hah, I know. I'm somewhat new to Reddit itself but not a stranger to TRP. Even then, the amount of denial going on in the AskWomen reddit is a shocking joke. The funny thing is that I got the data/link from a user who'd posted that, on the same question x-posted in AskMen. Even she wouldn't post data on AskWomen, and preferred to do so on the AskMen sub. Even women know how crazy AskWomen is, haah!

ProTip: Change the "sorted by:" dropdown to best. The original page with the post is auto-sorted by new; most likely, the mods made that change (more experienced Redditors can confirm how this works).

martial arts. You can never guarantee that you can be good enough to "beat" any particular person, however you can guarantee with practice that you can be better than your previous self. Fascinating - never saw it that way. Thanks for writing that.

Post this in AskMen, and ask men there how they'd feel about seeing this or working in an environ like this. Better still; take a photo and mail it to 10 media outlets anonymously. That should be fun.

Maybe she's bloody nervous around you. You remind her of her creepy pedo uncle. Or because she's been pleasuring herself to your photos for the past...forever. Doesn't necessarily mean she hates you. If you're both good-looking and socially comfortable (you're able to make others laugh etc), then maybe she has a crush on you too. I'd recommend dialing back the game a bit; maybe that will make it easier for her to calm down around you. Or, of course, as I said earlier, it's possible she just f**k…

She seems eh...slow. I really don't understand why she didn't just tell me she wasn't interested, or that she had a boyfriend. She went to so much effort, why? Just text her BF back and say that she was flirting with you at the gym. Then let them hash it out, muaaa (evil laugh). That's the punishment one gets for lying to you for no darn reason.

Am very curious about how this works out. Did she make a mistake (whaa?), or is she genuinely stupid? Next time you see her tell her that you're flattered but he's not your type. Excellent advice. Crack a joke; tease her maybe. Then give us a report on how it works out!

use your own strengths to your advantage. Hey, fellow introvert here; married TRP. I'm not sure what I've done right (or wrong) but it works :) Yeah, def find & use your own specific strengths.

I say, even if they ignore you, talk to them. Initiate. Reach out. (a) If they're not interested in you, they'll scowl at you and walk away. Or alternately, if they were on the fence about you, then your confidence will tip them over to your side. (b) If they are interested but just embarrassed to say hello, then hey, good for you. In any case, the more you lead and reach out, the better it is for you. And the more rejections you get, the tougher you'll become. TLDR: You lead. You initiate. That…
