Barely 5 Lasko fans tall. He fucking shredded this guy 😂💀

Oh my goodness! Thank you for letting me know! He even married a single, possibly widowed mother & adopted the child as his own. RIP John & Clara ❤️

I like him, too. I get the impression he was kind of a weird guy but also honest, charming, romantic and modest. The line about buying waterfalls got me. Kinda poetic and sweet. I hope he found himself a lovely wife, treated her right and lived happily ever after. God, look at me… I’m not even 12 hours into the worst betrayal of my life and I’m still optimistic.

In my thirties (I’ve just turned 40), there were several years there where I was sexually assaulted once per year.

He’s probably not the worst person in the world. I’m sure he wouldn’t kick a puppy. Probably has other decent qualities. But come on. This dude has put you through the ringer. You really think he’s going to treat some other girl well for more than a few months? Let go of all that. If he was a HVM, he would be wanting to protect you from all the kinds of pain he himself has put you through. If you get back with him, you’re just prolonging your misery and wasting more of your time. He’s worthless.

There is no better version of him that any other girl is going to get. This is who he is. So you can let go of that. He is only capable of loving himself. So let him have at it. Quit wasting time on this guy. He’s already gotten 3 years of your life. You could have met a HVM in that time. We can all learn from this. There were red flags you ignored in the beginning. I think you know you should have left after you caught him lying (and at least trying to cheat) the first time. Now you’ve bonded w…

Astute observation. Funny I should see this right after my last post about my neighbors... they are chaos ridden (it’s actually probably interesting if you’re in no way associated with them but exhausting as hell up close) and THREE (3!) of my friend said not to be fooled by the husband, that he looooves the drama too. And a fourth friend said he thinks the fights are a sexual kink for them or something. I don’t know. I’m not far enough away from it yet to have a clear perspective. Plus, I guess…

My two best friends begged me for a freaking YEAR to set boundaries with my neighbor and best local friend. Especially since Christmas Eve. She was insanely toxic but it was so hard to do because I’ve moved 300+ miles away from my social circle/roots but I’ve finally managed to do it a couple weeks ago and I can’t begin to describe the weight that has been lifted off of me. I was mediator and therapist for her and her husband and they caused me so much stress but I kept trying to help them becau…

Never ever get engaged after only 1 year of dating. She’s signed up for a whole lifetime of hurt and she doesn’t even know this man FOR REAL. He probably treated her well for months (which basically feels like just yesterday when you’re a year in) and she thinks she’s found a guy who really loves her and isn’t afraid to commit to her but, duh, why wouldn’t he commit when she’s doing everything for him, including taking care of his kids, and he has nothing to offer her in return except bitching a…

My ex-husband love bombed the shit out of me and special little treats were a part of it in the beginning. For our first Valentine’s Day, I got two amazing bouquets. And for the next three? Nothing at all. I don’t know if you should talk to him. Personally I think it’s a waste of time. Some men just do this shit in the beginning to reel you in. Decide if the rest of the relationship is worth it. (Probably not but what do I know)

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. If he really dumped you because of some comments his son made, he has a whole other set of issues. I think it’s more likely he used that as an excuse. I don’t know FDS’ stance on being friends but IMO that is too emotionally taxing when you’re trying to get over someone. I’ve had (and still have) friends that are exes, in fact I’m friends with most of them, but I had a year cooling off period in each case. Best of luck to you! Keep your head up and be …

More anecdotes: One of my best friends (for over 25 years) was in IT. I loved him so much but he was for sure crazy. He drove his wife absolutely bonkers and then drank himself to death (diabetic) on December 22nd. My IT ex-boyfriend was addicted to porn and he got violent with me once. New IT guy I’ve just started to get to know a bit via text seems great but I bet he turns out to be an extreme gamer or addict. Maybe not though. My answer: probably but give them a chance.

This is not something I would normally post but I’m just going to say this: I feel like if you can’t rationalize your way out of something it’s due to a larger issue you can’t control (depression, anxiety, etc.). IF that’s the case you probably can’t be helped with mere advice. :( I’m not going to suggest medication to you, not to mention I’m not at all qualified to do so, but that’s the route I’ve taken. I bet I would be crucifying myself for the pickmeisha actions I’ve taken in recent years wi…

I understand wanting to go back in time and protect the innocent person you were but how about cutting the person you are now some slack. She doesn’t deserve this either. When we cringe at our past behavior that’s because we are growing/have grown. It’s not something we should beat ourselves up about endlessly.

I liked the end where he writes her an email for her to read upon his death that instructs her not to ever fix the hole in the bedroom wall, to leave it as it is and remember him how he actually was. WHY is there a hole in the wall, Jim? What a jackass. Gina can do so much better.

I try to be the best that I can You also sound like an intelligent and thoughtful woman and to me all of these things make you high value. You absolutely deserve your high value man and all the love and support that comes with that. Don’t be so hard on yourself! We are all different. Your best version of you is going to look different than another woman’s best version of herself. I have to remind myself of that all the time. At first I thought she went through his phone and THAT’S what she found and was kind of excited for her. Then I saw that she read it over his shoulder. So he might have meant for her to see that. Now I see they’re both 19. Oh lawd. OP you have stars in your eyes and I truly wish you all the best but please do not get your hopes up too high. There aren’t any major red flags from what you say and that’s not nothing! But that’s about it. It’s only been 7 months and he is 19. Neither of you really k…

It totally makes sense. I wish I had broke it off with the last one much, much sooner. It was the same bs. Be proud that you called it off as soon as you did. Two months is perfect. Bless her heart. :( I wish I had some advice but I can’t imagine what you could possibly do for her. She’s already in therapy and making healthier choices for herself. Honestly though, you probably already help her more than you can ever know just by loving her and being such a great friend. Having true friends is so important. Not everyone is so lucky. The only thing I could think that might lift her spirits, even if it is just temporarily, is a Valentine’s Day gift. I’ve been sending my single…

I’m sorry girl. If it gets bad enough before you can get your ducks in a row, keep the ex in mind. Better to be dependent on a better man than this one. He’s awful.

Don’t wait. You’ve got to leave him and this time leave for good. Is there any way your ex-boyfriend would help you out one last time? If he does, this has to be it. You know this relationship is only going to get worse and worse. You hit rock bottom years ago. This is beyond toxic.

My best friend’s brother once berated and screamed at his wife all night over a $.99 sweet tea she treated herself to on a hot summer’s day.

I don’t know why I’m surprised by this but I am. Two weeks after she gets out of the hospital, he leaves her. Two fucking weeks later. And now he says he doesn’t know what he should apologize for?? Unbelievable what a sorry POS he is. There is no way this man ends up with anything other than a complete idiot because no woman with even half a brain would have him. He is disgusting. Worse than that. He was probably gifted that old mattress from a friend. Gross. I am guessing that because what guy says “I’ve literally never boned anybody in this bed” unless it’s true.

You can’t come back from something like that. There is no way. She’s tried to bribe the undertaker here but her marriage is already dead. I think she’s on her way to realizing it though. I’m glad she hasn’t had sex with him in the meantime. He doesn’t deserve it.

You’ll probably have to go to upscale bars and hope some successful/educated man drags his decent but introverted friend/cousin/brother out with him on the night you happen to be there. If they’re educated, handsome and successful and they go out a lot they’ve most likely been snatched up by this point unless they’re fresh out of a relationship/marriage. That said I meet guys all the time in bars that aren’t huge partiers but got drug out to the bar with relatives or friends. A couple times I su…

Yikes. I’m sorry for all the f-bombs. I didn’t edit it at all, names or anything. Also the ending makes me sick. But I’m glad I wrote all this down. I didn’t even remember all of this! This is who I was and this is what this guy truly put me through. It partially made me into who I am now, and you ladies helped me open my eyes too. Thank you for the tip. I started a group on meetup a couple years ago and only made 2 friends. I set one up with a male friend of mine and then she had a HUGE problem with me texting him like twice a year inviting them BOTH to outings (they are now married and that’s the thanks I get for going out of my way to fix them up while I was sick and pregnant and was extremely respectful of their relationship) & the other? Replace * with y. It’s a derogatory term for a more butch lesbian. I think her husband/wife/whatever is trying to say she’s not feminine enough for him and insulting her for being with a “woman” as well. It’s messed up. I do feel sorry for her. She’s obviously heartbroken. Even if she is stupid, she’s a person and she’s hurting. I agree with everyone else though. They can transition right on to a new life without me while they’re at it because I didn’t sign up for that.

I’m the same way. I don’t have a crush on anyone and it feels pretty great. I did meet a nice guy in December (well I had talked to him before but I decided after that night I would give him a chance). He actually seemed like a gentleman and wanted to take me on a proper date but a close friend killed himself the same night and I told him I needed time but would go out with him on NYE. I didn’t make any other plans for NYE and I never heard from him. I, of course, went out alone and had a blast …

Is it possible you’re attracted to sensitive types but just keep ending up with these extremes? It may just be a bad run of luck. Just a thought.

You just bite the bullet and kick him to the curb. It’s never easy. That comment he made about your weight is reason enough IMO. I feel like he’s probably giving you a whole avalanche of reasons though. There are men out there who will find your body incredibly sexy just the way it is. Don’t settle for this shit. Plus, shit, you’re just 22. Kick him to the curb and enjoy your 20’s girl!

I mean I agree with that to a certain extent. What do you think about the guys who will marry a girl just to hang on to her but aren’t exactly enthused about it? Because it sounds like you could end up with that kind of guy by employing that strategy. I don’t see myself ever doing this but I am new to FDS and I have no judgment either way.

Are you sure? I swear I have seen posts on here advocating forcing a guys hand by issuing ultimatums. Did I dream that up? Maybe that’s just the impression I got from the advice of being engaged before being exclusive. I guess that’s a leap though. It makes it seem like marriage is the end goal. But I guess the end goal is just being treated well.

I totally agree. It is a horrible lie. Most things recommended here, I agree with. Dragging a dude into marriage is not one of them. I’m old and twice divorced now but my first relationship lasted 5 years and the guy just didn’t want to marry me. He was willing to in order to keep me but before the date we set, he never even bought me a ring, so I just told him never mind. I just knew if I married someone who didn’t truly want to marry me that it would end in divorce anyway. I changed after that…

SO many are boring, one dimensional primitive characters, I'd rather watch paint dry than spend 3 decades with a man with such a lack of depth. Perfectly said. This is pretty much why I’m single. Slim pickings around here.
