If you want a more feminist-aligned view on men but that is still a charitable take, try "What about men?" by Caitlin Moran. I feel like a diagram in Bell Hooks. When I listen to Caitlin it feels she is inviting me to her livingroom for tea. She really treats men as humans not as creators of patriarchy. She still centers women but does not blame men.

Yeah. He said controversial stuff in the 90s that now is reflected in CDC data today: women are majority of SA victims but male victims are a non-neglijable quantity. Also he created around 300 orgs for women and 300 for men. He had 1000 apearances on tv talking about gender, most notably from a feminist perspective. He was 3 times elected in the board of National Organization for Women. He is willing to talk to anybody about boys and men, including JP.

25% of police killings is black people -> racism. valid 95% of police killings are men -> not misandry since "misandry is just words" George Flyd was both a victim of misandry and of racism. For me misandry is when your teacher beats you and the other boys but not the girls. When you got jumped, have a scar on your face and parents did not go to the police. Erasure is misandry.

This is the same "black on black crime" type of argument. It divides us rather than unite us. It downplays violence against men and boys. It does not solve the issue or move the conversation forward. The point is that the algorithm feeds men and women different stats. Because of this, they have different views on thecworld and end up hating each other. Same with boys and girls.

Their internet is different. They don't see 70/80 % of violent street crime victims are men and boys. Plus men and boys never report.

Honestly? Will be downvoted for this 😅 Tell an AI all of this. Not joking. LLMs are good at language and progressive spaces are a mine field "misandry" is a mine. AIs can tell you how to phrase somethings, share how you feel, without landg on these stupid mines. You must give it context.

Dairy is seen as a feminine food, but it requires the killing of male calves. Terrible. Meat is manly, dairy is feminine. Meat is not the only "gendered food".

One of the best books on men and boy's issues is written by an old school feminist: Caitlin Moran "what about men". We should all fight together for gender equality. I want more women in IT and politics. I also want more male teachers and psychiatrists. We are all fighting the same battle. We might disagree on some aspects. For example the term "toxic masculinity" is terrible. It brings shame to what we are, it is vague and it does not decrease gender issues in any way. It does not add to the co…

I got bullied a lot as a kid. By bullied I mean punched in the face, not called names. No clue what they hated about me. One night 5 other kids attacked me, one "punched" me in the face with a rock and I fell down. I think that for a few seconds I was unconcious. I woke up being surrounded and kicked when I was down. No clue how I got up but when I did, they ran away scared. They ran away when they saw tons of blood on my face and clothes from the rock "punch". After the event my mom asked me if…

The fact that all women around me have no clue of all the issues men face. Men tend to know a lot of the issues women face. For me it was the empathy gap. Both the men and women around me told me as a kid that I should know how to fight. "What if somebody picks up on your girlfriend or wife? You need to protect her!" Yeah, you are right. But over 90% of police victims are black. Over 90% of police victims are men. Nobody said that George Floyd was a victim because he was a man, just because he was black. Somehow the gender aspect was erased. There are non-black men being assaulted by police also.

Get your foot in the door with "patriarchy hurts men too". I understand why that is wrong but it's good to show them more and more feminists recognise men's issues. I would avoid talking about DV and men by just stating facts. Try to get them questionong: "hey are there any stats on men?". Or maybe try to get them to acknowledge other issues besides DV like male genital mutilation, life expectancy or work related deaths. /r/MensRights14/07/23 03:11 PM

It's actually the other way around. When friends share sexist stories they have then I listen. Changing the subject would be really dumb and unkind. When I talk about my issues people try to convince me that "it's because of toxic masculinity". Not sure how masculinity gets the blame here. What if we gender swap this? What is the woman equivalent of "toxic masculinity"? Pretty sure it's not "toxic femininity". I think a good equivalent is "sexist gender norms and expectations against women and g…

Don't talk about men's issues. Learn about men's issues to understand the issues you are facing. Talk about your experience and issues. Nobody can say 'you did not experience that'. After you talk about your issue make sure to link it to the wider pattern. Another approach is to force them to see the man's perspective with short one liners. For example we were discussing bald men. I was supportive of hair transplant. The women were like "men should accept their changing bodies". I asked "what wo…

There are 2 JPs: the self help guru and the philosopher. The self help guru tells people obvious stuff like the above. He is ok. Some people need this. The philosopher tells us how the world should work. "Don't protest for social change! Stay in your lane!" The philosopher is the problematic one. The issue is that you can only get 2 for the price of one. I think we can find better role models. Matybe Waren Farel or Richard Reeves.

There is nothing masculine about either of them. Some women are violent (falling under toxic masculinity) and some women are leaders (falling under positive masculinity). Toxic masculinity was created just to attach negativity to a gender just like female histeria. We should see toxicity and positivity regardless of gender.
