This was an interesting episode, the two story lines being the hapless husband trying to win back the angry wife (Homer and Marge), while a young boy tries something different to win over his crush (Milhouse and Lisa). The Simpsons is as mainstream as it gets, the writers have decided this topic is no longer controversial. TRP has hit the mainstream. It was even explicitly stated on the show, when the school guidance counselor tells Milhouse, "Don't be yourself, be that guy you just were [a jerk…

Between the ages of 25 and 40, for every 100 men with a college education there are now 132 college-educated women. That may sound like the marriage market for educated women has become even thinner, which it has for women who insist on finding a better-educated husband. But many women now are looking for other qualities. For example, the gender imbalance has led many educated women to marry much younger men. These men are game because they prefer to have a wife who is older and more economicall…

There is a graphic which perfectly illustrates what America is going through right now, if I can find it I'll post it here. Basically, the theory is that there is a marriage "funnel" that all single women (and men!) enter, let's say at age 18. In the old days, by the time a woman reached about age 25, she would exit the bottom of the funnel with a man. As the average marriage age rises, more women are staying in the "funnel" longer. The problem is that more women are also simultaneously being ad…

I never considered that line of reasoning tying in obesity, good point. From what I have observed, women who criticize "The Patriarchy" generally seem much less happy than women who willingly join "The Patriarchy," since those women who join acknowledge the true power women hold over men that feminists squander--mating choice.

Some of the interesting contrapositives implied by these questions: [Note 1--Logical statement: "If a, then b." Contrapositive: "If not b, then not a."] [Note 2--You might say it is intellectually dishonest to imply that saying yes to only one of these questions makes you a rapist, when the quiz clearly identifies that you only hold rape-y views if you say yes to too many of these questions. To which I would reply, if you walk out of a bank with one million dollars that isn't yours, you are a ba…

Hating women is like hating fire. There's no point. We can still institute laws insuring compliance to fire safety standards, otherwise shit burns down. 'Hate' is a red-herring. It's not something adults talk about. Bravo, this is one of the best analogies I have found to describe the problem. Men in happy relationships understand this, even if they don't articulate it explicitly, often at a near subconscious level.

If I could describe Mr. Rogers in one word, as described in that article from Esquire, it would be "disarming." In real life I have met very few people who are truly "disarming" and they are all some variation of alpha male, who creates his own world, which you have no choice but to be a part of. The term "magnetism" also applies. I've noticed that people want to spend time with you when they see you as a leader, even if you don't see yourself as a leader. To relate to TRP, I would say one goal …

"This article is technically correct." There, I fixed your comment for you. The bottom-line is shame works, which is why religion has been so effective at controlling mankind throughout history. Teenage girls (and boys) are more afraid of immediate social ostracization than potential future loss of earnings. Shame is also really the only answer our broke nation can afford.

Heartiste has some pretty good advice about this type of problem. What it boils down to is this: he needs to make his wife jealous. Talk about thin, young, single co-workers wanting to have drinks after work with him; cute girls hitting on him at grocery store/coffeshop/bars/etc; calling her at night when he is surrounded by sounds of music and girls laughing with him; conspicuously posting pictures with him and hot women spending time together on facebook, etc. She'll either shape up, realizing…

Eye-opening. I just read a couple of the stories. Heartiste had an interesting piece of advice about love, "5 minutes of alpha is worth 500 days of beta," meaning a woman treasures attention from a high-value man, even if just a few moments, but hates the low-value man so much that constant protestations of love counter-intuitively decrease her love for him. What's amazing is the thread is one day old and already has nearly 3000 comments. People are starting to learn the true nature of human rel…

I remember reading once, might have been on VK or rooshv, about the regret of red pill men who find they can no longer see the world as when they were young. There's no going back. When you begin to see how men and women relate, and how they get (or don't get) what they want, many of the old romantic ideals just melt away. Historically, some of the greatest works of art (literature/sculpture/painting/architecture/etc) by men were motivated by the need to impress women, or gain wealth/power/statu…

The big take-away for me is this: most women understand what a good deal they get in marriage because of one simple fact. Women choose to get married. Men are married to. If a woman is unhappy she is the one who leaves. It makes no sense for a woman to choose to stay in an unhappy relationship. The only conclusion left is that a woman stays in an unhappy relationship because she has no other options, ie. single life would be worse than married life. The woman in this article is proud of her unha…

Thank you for this post. I thought the estimate of 10-30% paternity fraud seemed shockingly high. The authors of this study provide significantly more evidence that a more accurate estimate is between 1-3% for the general population. Still, if even an average of 1 in 100 men are victims of paternity fraud, while the perpetrators remain unaccountable, that is fairly widespread for such a truly monstrous crime. This study was particularly interesting: A unique English study of genetic relatedness …

See this other choice quote from the same article posted: "In the early 1970s, a schoolteacher in southern England assigned a class science project in which his students were to find out the blood types of their parents. The students were then to use this information to deduce their own blood types (because a gene from each parent determines your blood type, in most instances only a certain number of combinations are possible). Instead, 30 per cent of the students discovered their dads were not …

Thanks for your comment. I think we need more reasonable, dissenting views like this. I think you are making a mistake in attempting to distinguish women by social class, ie: nice Christian gril vs. low class/army wife. DNA testing does not discriminate by class. But the underlying issue is the NAWALT argument, that "Not all women are like that." Arguably, many women are, and we are just trying to reduce the number of men who find that out the hard way. See for example: http://www.the-spearhead.…

Thanks! I would guess women entering the workplace is the big change factor from 1890 to 2013. In 1890, women basically had these life options: marriage, inheritance, convent, prostitution. In 2013, unmarried women have whatever option they like, within their income/credit limit. I just happened to hear on the radio driving home today, a radio contest to pay "up to $1000 of your credit card debt!" with a joyous woman screaming in the background, a past winner. I think that says a lot about where…

Great post. The biggest difference from 1890 to 2013 seems to be how love is viewed. If love is viewed as an expectation, it is appropriate and even necessary to make demands of love. If love is a blessing, something that one enjoys and is grateful for, it is appropriate and even necessary to show your appreciation for love by accommodating others before yourself for the sake of love. More simply, 1890 woman was instructed to give love to her husband, while 2013 woman is instructed to demand lov…

The whole segment of the article about monogamy being rare in nature got me thinking about another hypothesis. Perhaps marriage, the pair bond, is unique to humans, because mankind decided it was more beneficial to develop the strong pair bond to support the growth of societies. This quote really hit me too: "In part, researchers figured females would be deterred from cheating since they had more to lose than a male by fooling around -- their mate might stop foraging to feed the hungry offspring…

Another choice quote, by a female doctor on her opinion: "If I were the queen of the world, birth control, of any form, would be available to any woman who wants it and DNA testing would be available for all the men so that they would know who their babies are."

One of the best pieces of red pill advice I ever heard was simply this: "Don't listen to want women say they want, look at their actions." If a girl gives you this type list, don't accuse her of anything, answer very simply, "How did you decide these things are important? Did you past boyfriends have these qualities?" If the answer is yes, ask why she isn't with any of those past boyfriends. If the answer is no, she wants a bad boy for fun and the good guy who has these qualities to materialize …

I think I may have mis-interpreted this line, based on when this video may have occurred. It was uploaded April 22, 2010 (don't know when it was actually taped). She was engaged to her second husband in December 2010 after dating for over one year, according to her wiki page, which has some other interesting facts that help explain her views on life: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherri_Shepherd#Personal_life

Seriously, I was thinking the same. I have female friends hitting 30 and they are still turning down guys. These women are looking for husbands and reject men they would be lucky to be with, for the flimsiest reasons. I have started explicitly telling close male friends--get a wife overseas, don't waste your time here.

Definitely watch the whole video from the start. Here's my analysis: 1) Sherri complains about how hard it is for black women to find eligible men, because those men want younger women or don't even want black women at all. Meaning: we must start with the victim frame, ie: why won't the rich handsome tall lawyer/doctor/movie star want me when I'm old and full of fattitude? Also, black men must be attracted to black women like me or face my wrath. Also, the only people allowed to be racist are si…

Women will never stop complaining. Religion/culture is an attempt to at least keep some of it confined to gossip between women, with men being ignored from the gossip circle, and not caring. Single women don't have a captive audience for "how was your day" etc and having single girlfriends just isn't the same as a man listening or at least pretending to listen. But really giving women a choice to marry or support themselves without complaining won't work because it is too complicated a choice, w…

This is one of the few things I admire about Chinese culture, which is also reflected in several other mainstream Asian cultures. High importance placed on family life. But also a very clear, unclouded view of gender relations and gender roles. No bullshit, no euphemisms. In the US, the President's office releases a web animation about a fictional girl named "Julia" and how, in very diplomatic language and pictures, the President basically says "the government will replace men in Julia's life." …

Thank you, thank you. I didn't know he was recently divorced. The article is interesting, reading between the lines. On the one hand, Wayne Coyne is apparently king of the Oklahoma City art scene. On the other hand, he is "hunting down 21 yo groupies." Does not compute. My impression is, if it's true that he is the BMOC in OKC, the 21 yo groupies are the ones hunting him down. Wow that is one extremely disturbing video. But there are glimmers of insight in this story. 1) Erykah Badu didn't want to sit in a tub full of...stuff, so instead she volunteered her sister (WTF?!). 2) Her entire rant is basically saying, "I'm angry you didn't let me approve the video edits before release." I suppose this is a valid complaint, but the rest of the rant is just her pure anger at falling for Wayne Coyne's encouragement. After watching the video, though, you really have to ask your…

I haven't heard many songs by Flaming Lips, but I don't see overt post-feminist ideology in this song. Maybe "pink robots" are competing women, trying to steal her man? Maybe pink robots = the unrealized ambition of all other women in society, that Yoshimi has avoided by being happy with her own man and job? Actually looking at the lyrics again, could be the "evil robots" are competing women. Yoshimi must stay strong to defeat them, beat the odds, keep her man. OR, evil robots are just other peo…

Like the adult diapers, "Depends." Extreme example: billionaire husband hides assets from wife, wife relied on his much smaller disclosed assets+salary when she signed prenup, assuming she would be entitled to smaller amount. 50 years later, she discovers he is worth a lot more, prenup is invalidated because wife was not fully aware what she was signing away (i.e. right to much more than agreed). Re: Prenups--Depends on the state, generally, several factors will determine whether or not a prenup is upheld: 1) Was one of the parties coerced into signing? 2) Was it signed in haste (ie. night before wedding or 6months prior)? 3) Did both parties have attorneys help explain what they were signing? but most important: 4) Were the parties aware of their rights in signing? I think we are seeing a turning point. I wouldn't necessarily point to any one incident as "THE" moment that the red pill hit a mainstream nerve. But several stories over the past couple years likely helped hit that nerve, specifically the harem of Tiger Woods, angry virgins turning to gun violence, and Rihanna getting a free pass to date her abuser because of "feelings." What do you think about RISUG or the male pill? Apparently die-hard feminists hate it, because it will eliminate the power women have held for the last 50 years to determine the reproduction of the human race. If effective, cheap, long-lasting with no side effect birth control is available for men, do you think feminism will recede, as a failed experiment in social engineering?

Blame Disney. The idea of a fairy tale romance as being a normal aspiration and expected for everyone is a fairly recent invention. Through most of human history, marriage served one purpose: to bind the property owned by two families. The reason why in Western tradition there is a "best man" and "bridesmaid" is because a marriage contract required two adult witnesses, and traditionally this would entail one man who was friends with the husband's father, and one man who was friends with the brid…

Go someplace crowded. It will get your energy level up, and even if you blowout, no one will notice or care--just move along. In a smaller venue with fewer people, just a couple groups, your failures will be apparent to everyone present--meaning you have to change venues. Larger venue=favorable anonymity.
