I agree. I’m not on Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat. I’m only on Facebook to keep in touch with elderly relatives, and even then my profile is restricted and very private. I don’t post any pictures or other posts. I think I need to be with a man who feels the same way about social media as I do. It brings nothing good to relationships.

The mind truly boggles.

Was gonna say this exact thing. Is it enough to just... not be super available/not get attached to one guy even if you’re only dating one? Like same principles just without the actual physical other men? I don’t know how we’re supposed to find one decent guy worth our time, let alone multiple... I really don’t have the energy to deal with a bunch of losers just so I can tick off the “dating multiple people” box. Ugh!

I think people are into his personality alongside his looks. He does down to earth/awkward/intelligent/artsy pretty darn well. He’s also just a beautiful person to look at, whether or not you’re actually sexually attracted to him. I haven’t met anyone above the age of like 30 who gets the attraction at all though. Lol.

It’s satire lol, from what I know about them they seem to be pretty decent guys.

When I was growing up... My dad left for work at 6:45 am. He would wake up, shower, unpack the dishwasher, make tea and bring it to my mom to wake her up (and do the same for all three kids), make more tea for everyone in travel mugs, walk the dog(s), take out garbage/clean cat litter/etc. My mom was a stay at home mom when we were in elementary school so she would get us properly awake and all ready for school after he left. Even though he left before 7am, he still found the time to do all of t…

Thank you. I have been fine each time it has happened so far. If he comes again I will strongly consider letting the police know about it.

Not too sure as I have him blocked for good reason, but I know based on my friends seeing him that he has traveled to my hometown (where I live now - I was in a relationship with him when I lived abroad) twice in the past two years and lurked around the neighbourhood I live in. Keep in mind that he lives on a different continent and has literally no reason to come to my city. He comes at the same time each year so we shall see if he comes again this year (I fucking hope not because it creeps me …

Honestly this is why I think it’s best to avoid all men who have more than a passing interest in things like video games and alcohol

There’s some Facebook groups that are centred around women who travel solo, that could be a place to look?

Me too! I solo travelled to 14 different countries before the age of 21. Going on another short trip in March. It’s very liberating.

I’m not married nor am I close to getting married, but I just wanted to say that your wedding sounds perfect. I also want a small and simple wedding - no frills, no fuss. Courthouse, pictures, small dinner, then honeymoon. Good for you for sticking to your guns.

Yes, he is a delusional fuckwit, but it says a lot about the low standards she has set that he has even CONSIDERED this let alone wasted 6 years of her life. He has no respect for her, even though she is his “best friend”. So sad.

Thought of this passage immediately. Great book. Too true.

So true. Porn is disgusting. Besides the fact that it is a sick and twisted mockery of human sexual relationships that causes harm to the sexual function of both males and females and damages real sexual interactions, the porn and prostitution industry enslaves, rapes, beats, and abuses so many women all over the world. It promotes and encourages misogyny and makes money off of violence against women. I know a lot of religious people. These are the no sex before marriage type religious people. I…

Lots of good comments and advice here already. Another thing I would add is that, say you stay together and get married etc, when you’re 55 and (granted you stay healthy etc) are still in good shape to travel, exercise, all the rest, he will be 65. From what I’ve seen there is (generally) a big difference in people who are 55 and people who are 65. There can be people in their 60s and 70s who seem 10-20 years younger than they are, but that is the exception... not the rule. Amongst baby boomers/…

Fortunately not in a romantic sense!!! But I know enough hockey guys and have witnessed enough women I know in relationships with hockey guys to know that 99.9999% of the time, these guys are NOT good guys, let alone HVM.

I’m Canadian. It’s common knowledge here that hockey guys are douchebags. Don’t do it sis.

I agree with that to some extent, which is why I said to be very wary of a guy proposes after less than a year or so... There is definitely some nuance to this, and I think it comes down to having the knowledge and tools to be able to know when you are dating an abusive/low value man.

Ridiculous. If a man wants to get married (as in it’s a life goal of his), and he loves you and wants to marry you, he will make it happen! And it will take him between ~1-2.5ish years of dating to propose. (Any earlier than that is a little suspicious imo). He also won’t pretend that living together is “crucial” before even considering engagement. Seriously. I’ve found that men in their mid-to-late 20s/early 30s will propose to their girlfriends after ~1.5-2 years of dating if they love her and…

Faramir was always in my top two LOTR book characters. Nobody has ever understood this... I haven’t didn’t either really,,, but I think I do now! Turns out I have good taste in fictional men, not so much men in real life...

I know a guy who said this type of thing to the girlfriend he’d been with since high school. He’s scared he hasn’t tried everything out, etc. He met another girl a few months later and they were engaged two years later. They got married 1.5 years after that and now own a house together. The original girlfriend is a live-in GF and can’t convince her boyfriend to marry her.

You’re so right. The amount of women I know that let their boyfriends do this shit to them is sickening

Yeah. I like that perspective. I had reservations for a while since I know so many religious people that didn’t move in together until they got married, and those often end up being pretty unhappy marriages. But really... after you’ve been committed for a while, have sex and know it’s good, and spend time together like normal, healthy, well-functioning adults... I don’t see the need for this “trial run” thing??? Like... a person doesn’t change so drastically after you move in with them. It reall…

I’m new here as well, so please take my opinions on this as such. Anyway... 1) Why does he need to know? There is literally no need. It’s done. In the past. Can’t change it. Unless there is a medical concern or something that needs to be brought up, I don’t really think that it’s necessary to tell men our “sexual history” or our “number”. What effect does the number of people you had sex with in your life / who you had sex with have on your future relationships? Barring trauma from sexual abuse …

Ew. Seriously... no. What an awful situation for this woman. This is why I refuse to play commitment games with men. I’ve seen and heard of too many women giving everything they’ve got to these losers who cannot treat them right or even bother to commit to them properly. This girl I used to be friends with has been dating this guy for a few years now. She’s in her mid 20s and he’s 30 now. They’ve been living together for a couple of years. She would constantly tell me how they have these weekly …

What absolute nonsense. Out of the ~6 guys I’ve “dated” (length and seriousness of the relationships vary), only one of them actually liked and loved me for me. The rest were just trying to get something out of me. At this point I honestly don’t believe that the vast majority of men are even capable of loving women.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
