My biggest regret in divorce was not lawyering up first and fighting harder earlier, for the exact same reason you mention “don’t want to blow things up” - maybe you’re one of the couples the can sort things out amicably? But if she shows up to mediation with a lawyer and you don’t, you’re on the losing end If you show up with a lawyer and she doesn’t, congratulations If you both show up with lawyers as a surprise, then the truth is exposed and you’ll be glad you brought one

Thanks for sharing this, my stbxw has kept the kids all Easter and not allowed me to see them (sorting out custody with lawyers atm) - glad to see your faith in God

You’ve got a very good grasp on the situation It’s very difficult coming back from that and completely and blindly trusting that person again, you’ll always think during every fight “will she do it again” you’ll be on eggshells, tearing off the bandage is the hardest part

Holly shit, what a turn of events, I’m living something similar atm but certainly not as bad. But mine can absolutely turn this way … These women make wrong decision after wrong decision, continue to sabotage their own lives, drag our children through it and we end up being “collateral damage” - be glad she’s out of your life, now go get what custody you can with the kids My story: https://www.reddit.com/r/survivinginfidelity/s/pcJLfmEiIW

Lawyer should guide this, getting this ready on my end too, it’s pretty much a financial rectal exam

I think hatred is a natural reaction during the process, whether that’s leading into, during or (probably less likely) post divorce - I will share this though, my hatred phase came pre-divorce when I found out about the cheating, spoke with multiple people before confronting her (we had been married 10 years, 2 children, built a life etc) then after a few weeks decided I wanted out, when I did I was as completely peace and even forgiveness, then a couple of weeks later she took the kids away and…

Get a future settlement agreement if you’re gonna stay, meaning if you do cancel divorce and end up divorcing again, it’s already settled and you don’t go through the process again, that way everyone knows what money/custody looks like And check if there’s cheating … if there is, likely to happen again

Watch Josh Hudson videos on YouTube and do marriage counseling, they turned around my marriage but then I found out she was cheating on me with 3 guys, and even with marriage counseling she was still talking to other guys, so just make sure there’s no cheating first before trying to fix

Was there cheating or just relationship breakdown?

If there’s no cheating, watch videos of Josh Hudson on YouTube on how to reignite things in the marriage, I would guess even if you ended up divorced you want to turn around and say you gave it everything I followed the videos and they helped turn the marriage around, then I found out she was cheating on me with 3 diff guys, and even then went to marriage counseling as a last ditch effort (then found out she was still messaging and engaging with those same guys while we were doing counseling) so…

Ya, it’s over, staying in that relationship is soul destroying for a man, the biggest challenge is breaking what was built together for many years (the “marriage”) but that’s the cost of freedom and the cost of getting your mental state back, self belief and rebuilding yourself, it won’t happen when you’re stuck with a soul sucking person like her day in and day out, leaving was the best decision I ever made for myself (aside from her keeping the kids away, but we’re going to court for that now)…

Just coming out of a similar experience with nearly identical internal feelings, both as a father/husband provider and also WTF for putting up with her bullshit, this community has been supportive I left the home finally about 3-4 weeks ago, aside from the legal headaches now, I can turn around and say 100% correct decision My story for context: https://www.reddit.com/r/survivinginfidelity/s/pcJLfmEiIW

From what I’ve researched about women cheating/leaving, they often give themselves more honorable excuses for leaving their guy (instead of admitting that that they cheated) …. When I went back to the timelines she saw another guy, and went back to the same time in the text messages between us, she would always start fights that seemed out of nowhere at the time and bring up all these random reason why she doesn’t want to be with me … so now it makes sense …

Yup, at the same time, it was crazy to watch from this end, like she was literally cheating on all of us, WITH all of us, she was telling one how in love she was with him, while sexting with intimate details with another, then us having sex the next week
