You don't date to find your next partner at your fresh stage. Date for friendship and fun. Not to find the one. Every one is different. Date when you feel comfortable. And don't talk about your divorce on the first date. Wrong move! Enjoy

First, don't look for a "partner", not yet at least. Look for someone to spend some time with or have some fun with, if need be. But you're setting yourself up too quickly for more bullshit.

Change your mindset. You are freshly separated; not even divorced yet. Chill man, you shouldn’t be looking for your next “partner”. If you want to have casual sex, that’s different, but you don’t need to be in a relationship. I’m like 1.5 years divorced, and still haven’t been in a real relationship. I still like to go out time to time with women, but I’m always clear with my intentions that I’m not sure what I want. Honesty goes a long way.

Dating, FWB, whatever is fine - if you have the mental toughness to control your emotional commitment, and not many do when the wound is so fresh. Partner seeking, if in the end that's what you want/need, should wait until the divorce is done and dusted.

EDIT: Just read your story and the update. You need to compartmentalize and simplify. You're in the thick of a relatively nasty legal battle and need all your wits about you to spend every possible waking moment with your kids. Self love is your best option until the dust settles into the prolonged war of attrition your divorce will likely become (however, I give it a 30% chance that if you hold your ground and deal her a few major legal setbacks she'll fold).

Advice. Date but no “partner”. Why put another of pedestal. Read dating essentials for men and just be open to whatever. I had great results simply saying hi in various places I frequent as well as hinge.
