No. Several reasons but the biggest one is this is a big part of my identity. If we're changing names then both of us are changing to something we both like, it's not going to be unilateral.

That's really good to hear, especially about the reduced risk of ectopic pregnancy as well. I'm on birth control for hormonal regulation but I really don't like that women are expected to take birth control pills by default to prevent pregnancy. There definitely needs to be more awareness about elective surgeries like this.

If you don't mind sharing, did you have any issues with hormonal changes because of the sterilization? I'm 100% CF but haven't ever considered surgery, and part of it is the worry of any long term side-effects.

Yeah I'd bet on low self esteem as well. They overcompensate for their lack of attractiveness by going hyper sexual. Not trying to generalize but I feel like a lot of "kinky" older people also fit in this category of sexual try hards.

This is so true lol. Everytime I saw a "poly" or "third" or "unicorn" hunter profile it was the fugliest looking people you could imagine.

Big no. C'mon that's so cheap and disgusting. He's basically programming his brain to objectify women every time he opens his feed. Also he is 40. If he wanted fitness inspiration there are lots and lots of clean accounts of influencers who talk about it and a fair number of men in his age group too. The insta model stuff is soft porn. It's as sleazy as having a giant calendar on the desk which has pictures of bikini models. Tasteless and creepy.

I'm not into video games at all. I can see why a videogame might be like a TV show is to me. The only issue is when it becomes excessive. So my issue isn't with videogames per se it's when that starts affecting how much time he spends with me, or if he ignores me or important things because of it. That's not acceptable, but whatever else he does with his free time is his concern. I'd be annoyed if someone told me to stop watching reality shows or reading fiction, so I won't do that to a partner …

In his specials and otherwise he has admitted he has massive anxiety and people pleasing tendencies. Also clear is that Anna used to be the "decision maker" and he was the passive agree-er. Now his way of explaining Munn and the baby all point to the codependent coping dynamic. I'm not happy that he took zero accountability for how he treated Anna. Thing is he is still on a bender, everyone else is seeing it, but everyone is pretending that things are okay and congratulating him on the baby like…

Yep, I'm just stunned. I liked Mulaney. But wtf is this. None of this sounds healthy. And I'm shocked at how quickly he dismissed his wife. A baby is not a walk in the park for even the most stable couple. And wtf was that timeline explanation- complete bullshit. I'm so disappointed. Why are people congratulating him on the baby, it's so bizarre. I'm happy for Anna. If this is what John was/is like then she is better off doing her own thing. Better cut it off now than deal with his addiction iss…

So much this. It's like they have no clue what is going on. My guess is that no one has ever been interested in them, so they don't know the difference between making conversation vs being attracted. I had a guy be the boringest person on the planet, tell the waitress that we will split the bill even though he'd asked me out and all I had was a glass of wine, and try to make weird jokes which I told him were shitty because they stereotyped gender roles. Exactly, when they say these things they are basically saying "the bar for my behavior is on the ground..I'm letting you know so I can relax into the slob I am and you can stop expecting good behavior from me. Don't complain later, I was honest with you." If you call them out on it suddenly they were "joking".. Fuck off, jokes are supposed to be funny.

Every woman is here because she has made these mistakes and maybe worse. Don't beat yourself up. These lessons are mandatory to truly understanding why FDS advocates what it does. I have many an LVM to "thank" for their contributions to my emotional maturity and fierceness when it comes to what I deserve. So keep your head up and plan your exit. When I watched the show a long time ago my impression of his character was that he was written to be a stereotypical loser. However if he wasn't also made goofy/lovable then the show would no longer remain a comedy. So I can see why the character was what it was. I've never seen a person like that in real life. Usually if they are so terrible then they are also bitter and vindictive or manipulative. But yeah the relationship with April was cringe especially since April was portrayed to be this I…

Yep, I'd read somewhere that a change of situation and environment is deemed necessary to stop folding back into old behaviors. However his divorce was still shocking because he's been sober for a very long time and as far as I know, he had met his ex wife when he had already been sober for some time. So I'm guessing all of this is a new side of him for her as well.

No, bad idea. You don't know each other enough to be exclusive it sounds like, let alone commit to an LDR. Starting a relationship with long distance is an oxymoron. If you're already in a committed relationship and then there is a fixed period of long distance, that's doable. This is more fantasy land because you haven't started a relationship and now you're doing long distance - that doesn't work. If you have a fixed time period after which you both will be in the same city, then start your re…

You did well. Fact is you can't tell if someone is worth your time or not from day 1 so the only thing you can do is walk away as soon as you see that it's not working for you. It's the staying and dilly-dallying and rationalizing that is a time waste and mind fuck. The other obvious thing is to keep dating other people. You weren't exclusive so don't act exclusive. This also saves time because now you have other people you are vetting, if one fails let them go.

Literally this happened and he was a 30 year old gamer. I had the momentary thought of ditching the date when I saw him through the window but figured that would be a shitty move. Not only this, I had to tell him that he can't be gaming on his phone all the time if he's asked me to spend time with him. Then this grown ass man proceeds to ask me "Can I play now?" I had to explain to him that I'm not his mum, he can do whatever the fuck he wants but be ready to face the consequences. Don't act lik…

I just read this whole story in Bill Bryson's book The Body. In that he says the doctor who did this surgery, Walter Freeman went all around the country lobotomizing people willy nilly - once doing 225 surgeries in 12 days. He would perform them often without gloves or surgical masks, on children as young as 4 years old, people with phobias, drunks picked up off the street or people convicted of homosexual acts i.e. any "abberant" behavior. The procedure was so brutal that an experienced neurolo…

Lol not your fault, I've listened to my fair share of sob stories so I could feel how much you probably had to endure. Vitamin D is a very very common deficiency, 70-90% of people living in the higher latitudes have it. The heart condition sounds like hypochondria and/or lying for sympathy. If he was really worried he should go get all the tests done, not sit around gabbing.

Omfg, I was bored just reading that, forget about listening to that for multiple days. It's just vitamin D, most people are deficient. He may not be lying but he has issues - he is dumping all his problems on you and expecting you to make him feel better. That's not friendship or dating, that's holding someone hostage with emotional drama. Not your job to fix or even listen because you are clearly not that close. You know what's disgusting - I did a little experiment on Tinder where I matched with men in the 20-40 age group but when we started talking, I let them know that I was 16 (I am not). Not a single man had a problem with this news or expressed anything other than more interest. I kept thinking the next one will not be a completely ethically bankrupt man, but not one man did the right thing.

An NVM I was dating for a couple of months said something about my sister looking at him with doe eyes. I lost my shit because for me my younger sister might as well be my child. He was dumped. I told my sister much later about this incident and turns out she used to hate his guts so the doe eyes were actually stink eyes lol. I guess she sensed he was not worth my time before I did.

Yep, I am the queen of veg days lol so I fully relate. I guess I have issues with impulse control and boundaries so I need to be strict with myself and plan out the rough time blocks, but I'm just realizing that perhaps most people don't need to.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/08/21 05:38 PM

I guess what I meant by plan is more loose. It's not an itemized list of to dos, rather you know what you're spending your time on and how much. So planning could be as simple as "do whatever I want from 12-6pm Sat". But there need to be some boundaries because it's not really leisure time if you're deciding on the go and later feel bad about it. For eg I have ADHD and I need days of complete sensory rest. But if I don't plan which day I will take that then it becomes a rolling target and I end …

Agreed. Also it's worth remembering that almost all reality shows are massively scripted and that creative editing can completely 180 the narrative. So anyone watching that should know it's purely for entertainment and maximum engagement. Having said that entertainment and hobbies are just that. If you pressure yourself to have lofty hobbies you don't actually enjoy or shows you don't feel amused or relaxed after watching then you're falling into the trap of assuming everything in your life need…

I have a pretty big social circle and they had no idea that I'd dated or blocked this person so long ago. They figured it was just an old friend trying to get in touch. But yes they could have just let me know instead of giving my number.

I dumped and blocked an NVM after few months of dating, and moved halfway across the world for my career. 7 years later he got my number from someone else and tried to text me, only to weakly suggest that I should "make private time" for him if I ever visit home. So of course he got his ass roasted and blocked. I tracked down the friend who gave my number (they had no idea we had dated) and I got to know the NVM had just gotten married a month ago. Such happiness in his life, much wow.

That was like a gut punch. Something I hadn't put together before was that (1) there is too much porn and too much violent porn which fuels violent fantasies but then (2) the ability to hire prostitutes now allows these men to act out their violence on real women. So if they do get into a "normal" relationship their entire concept of what is acceptable and unacceptable is fucked up beyond belief. But the real scary thing is this very easy pathway that exists from porn to getting prostitutes to b…

It's such a stupid strategy too. I've never ever dated someone who started off as a long time friend because usually it's very clear if I'm attracted to someone or not. If there is attraction then they should have gone that route from the beginning. At that point if you said no, then they would be in their rights to end the pursuit and drift off. But this long con of being friends and then trying to hit on the girl is silly because it's very hard to look at someone romantically when you've categ…

About them being in their 40s, I've noticed that most people are either emotionally mature or immature by the time they are 27-30. After that the immature ones continue their stupid cycles no matter the age. You would think age would bring maturity but I haven't seen this effect post-30.

I doubt he was actually going to read any books. He was a grade A whiner, and he was milking his depression for all the sympathy he could get. I blocked him after that ridiculous text. porn is the basis of almost half of all divorces Whoa, that's interesting, I always thought it was finances or cheating and such. The way I see it, porn hacks into the addiction centres of the brain just like fast food or drugs. So now that it's everywhere and easy to access it's a bad feedback cycle where companies like pornhub prey on users and then the users need bigger and bigger hits (aka more abnormal or extreme porn). There is a reason subs like nofap exist, because many people are legiti…

Forget Wednesday, he should have made proper plans atleast a couple days in advance. Unless a clear plan is made why should he assume you're going to keep your calendar free. It's highly disrespectful of your time. If he asked you out, it's his job to plan the date. Lack of accountability is a major repellent. I had a similar thing happen with a guy and when I told him I wasn't interested in seeing him he went "glad you found someone else", as if my decision and his actions were completely unrel…

I had seen a YouTube video a long time ago from a man giving dating advice to women. I don't remember a lot, but what did he say is the most important thing to keep away bad relationships - boundaries and standards. Men don't respect women without boundaries or standards. At the time I didn't fully understand what he meant, but I was in therapy and learnt about boundaries and now I realized that is the best dating advice you can give anyone.

The reality is that a lot of them don't want to fix themselves. They would have to become much less selfish to actually have enriching relationships. But that doesn't work for them, they want a woman who will tolerate their crappy behavior. They are only wounded because the woman saw the light and left. Case in point, I went on a few dates with a divorced man. I figured things don't workout sometimes and maybe he learnt a lot about marriage and communication during the period of separation and p…

The second contact I had with a man on a dating app was him telling me how depressed he is. So I told him to read a CBT book that had helped me a lot when I was dealing with depression. To which he responded "ok, can you come over right now with your copy of the book?" 🙄 Somehow he managed to be more disgusting than the guys who send dick pics to strangers.

I really don't understand the fascination with anal. There is a perfectly good way to have hetero sex that is fun for both people, but they choose the way that makes one person cry in pain and risk damaging their internal organs? I find it abusive AF.

Yes and this is also my reason for maintaining that all "love" should be conditional. Conditional on maintaining mutual safety and respect and whatever else is important to the person inside the relationship. Most of the time unconditional love is a fancy way of saying doormat.

It's also interesting to me how all common sense is out of the window. Does she also need to specify that stabbing and shooting her are not within her boundaries?! 100%. Porn is the source of revenue for them, they would be shut down without it. So this was just a way to get extra publicity and whitewash their image. Just like how pornhub pretended to do it a few months ago. They want to profit from selling porn and trauma, but they also want to be called "progressive heroes" while doing it. I can't with the fucking hypocrisy.

Difficult to say. I've met both types, but usually the decent ones aren't shouting from the rooftops about it because to them this is a way of life not a "personality trait" to show off. Sidenote, watch Ramy on Hulu. It's about an infuriating man who virtue signals about being religious and trying so hard to be a good Muslim, but really is the fucking worst. They should make a series like that about the fake woke guys who are actually inconvenienced by true liberalism.

Even those ones are dbags in my experience. Infact they are worse because they come in with a massive superiority complex. I had one of these specimens boast ad nauseum about his prestigious MBA and then try to explain evolution to me. Funny because I have a STEM PhD and have authored multiple evolution related publications in CNS journals (aka the glamour mags of my field). Exactly this because it makes it harder to prosecute if you decriminalize it. And the trafficked victims are very often forced to lie about how they "consent" and "want" to do this in court. Generosity is a non-negotiable. How can you think someone loves you or cares for you if they can't do basic caring acts. He's a selfish asshole. I can't imagine her sex life is any good. Let's forget about emotional bonding, even physically I bet this man knows nothing and has no desire to learn anything either. A lot of predictiable traits go together with bigotry - like extremism and "simplistic-thinking" (this is what the research papers call it). I wonder if the intellectually bankrupt migrate towards these ideologies or once you start getting into the rabbit hole of cognitive dissonance you gradually lose logical ability. That's the thing - you don't realize just how disrespectful it is. Even when they are consensual, you have to think about the past history and trauma of a woman who "consents" to being beaten and bruised. And I'll be the first to say there aren't enough mental health resources available if you're poorer. First, I never said it doesn't have advantages. I agreed with you on that issue. Second, my point wasn't about how strangers treat you, it was about how people you interact with everyday treat you. If you apologize for everything and take the entire burden of making the relationship work then they will absolutely walk all over you, no matter how good looking you are. Conversely, if you assert your boundaries nd don't accept bad behavior, they will either behave better or leave you alone.

When I hear that, I know the man is trash. Why is cam model the first thing in your mind?? Worse, the underlying misogynistic thinking is you can't be beautiful and have half a brain. The flip side of that "compliment" is "wow, I didn't know [insert professional career] could look like you" or "oh, beauty with brains". It's not a fucki…

It has nothing to do with you. He hates himself. So he tried to "acquire" an attractive woman like you to feel better about himself. Then after some time, he decided that if you were with a peice of trash like him, then you must not really be worthy or attractive or you would have chosen other options. So he got angry that you're ruining his life and making him feel unattractive and loserish because he's with an unattractive woman like you. He projected all his anger at you, tried to make you fe…

So I told him to stop because sending that without my consent is the same thing as flashing me randomly on the street. They are service providers. And I choose to speak with my dollars. Behave like an asshole? No more of my personal or insurance dollars come to you, and I also write a review and let everyone in my network know not to go to them. I also do the opposite when I meet a good doctor. Recommend them to everyone I know. In my experience good doctors usually also have good bedside manners. It's the shit doctors who are arrogant and are not good at their job.

I’ve met Trump, he’s a solid guy Solid in the head yes, some would say rock solid 🤣 I feel like everytime I try to be more "open minded" wrt politics or religion it always comes to bite me. Then I remember that I had closed my mind because for the majority of zealots it's not about following their chosen path, it's about controlling your chosen path. My dad says this jokingly "Don't be so open-minded that your brains fall out". It's funnier because it's true lol.

I find it really insulting when a man suggests an early date at his house. I haven't been dating since covid so can't say anything about how that's changed things but anytime his house or my house enters the equation, it's a blatant hookup proposal and it makes me angry. Not to mention of course how extremely unsafe it is but just the gall of suggesting it, and thinking they're pulling a fast one on you.

Agreed, I love the symbolism but unfortunately am very sensitive to any metals touching my skin. I like that a ring is always on your person and easy to see, so it's a good reminder to yourself to commit to your self care. As long as the self care happens, the specific item or action you choose to symbolize it is a personal decision, and it doesn't have to reflect what society deems valuable or beautiful. It's dishonest from the start. He had planned the second text as a "I'm a good guy usually" cover, it wasn't an afterthought. Unlike speaking in real time, texting is very much deliberate. When I think about how I would respond if the situation was reversed, I basically realize that I'm way better a partner and I'm actually not expecting enough from people. It's a cringe moment, but this is my test now - if I would do X, then I expect X from my partner. And if they did something unimaginably bad that I would never do, I leave. So not remembering where you're going is in that category of unimaginable behavior.

This! It irritates me so much. I think one reason is that this whole thing is an ego boost for them. So they want to get the woman who is "hard to get" and they want her to fantasize about him as if he's a god among men. These guys want validation and praise more than they want sex. The sex just makes them feel like they won but it is secondary to the compliments. This is also how narcissists operate. They try to knock you over with overt gestures and love bombing so you're too impressed to realize it is not normal. 1000% It also angers me when I see people use the age of consent argument for children. If the age of consent in some state is 15, it's still wrong for a 25-30 year old adult to be hitting on the child. The state wise or country wise age of consent is a legal argument, not a moral one. If they lowered it to 12, it would not make it right. How demented do you have to be to need a law to stop you?

Agreed. You can have body type and other preferences but you don't have to dehumanize or disrespect someone who you don't personally find hot. His problem is that he's measuring his worthiness by her perceived worthiness, hence the tone of disgust of "how dare I be associated with X". That attitude is the shortcut to a shitty relationship because no matter how hot your partner, you're still you and you're always going to feel either disgusted or inadequate.

I think what you are missing is that abuse does not have to be 'extreme' in order to harm children. Emotional neglect has been shown to be much worse than even physical abuse in the way that it affects children for their lifetime. So the parent doesn't have to be outright abusive to be harmful. There is a difference between being emotional and being emotionally immature. My take is that punching walls and throwing a fit are signs of emotional immaturity i.e. not being in control of your emotions or expecting other people to take care of them for you. I hadn't even met him in person yet. I told him to hang tight and not do anything stupid. Then I hung up and went to sleep because I follow my own advice.

There was a askreddit post asking for stories of men abused by women, which felt to me like a "response" to this particular post. First, the overwhelming majority of abuse victims are women. And second, while I sympathize with all victims of abuse, the data suggest that predominantly the abusers of men are other men. I think when they talk about this topic in particular, they conveniently forget that while the victims' gender has changed, for the most part the abusers' gender has not. Putting it…

It's not support, it's nice guy behavior. They act supportive because they expect something in return. If the woman in question tells them to f off, they will immediately degrade her back to 'put her in her place'.

I think she is trying to point out that many people are ignorant or have never really thought about the situations or consequences of the porn industry existing. For example, I knew that it is fairly abusive but I figured at some level a lot of the women actors are doing it willingly for temporary easy money. However I was listening to a show and they described how more than 30% are actually not willing even during filming, have to smile and act that way so they would get paid and are often sudd…

Yikes... The whole comparison thing is so damaging to self-esteem. Even if you're talking yourself up by calling someone else 'average' you're ultimately increasing the power your self-critic holds over you and reinforcing the belief that your value only lies in how you look or whatever external standard you were comparing yourself to.

Part of it is definitely a lack of self esteem but the other part of it is addiction to 'fame'. This is especially true for cam/internet models because they are physically safe but also have a 'fan following' of hundreds of thousands of viewers. Listen to your gut. If something feels uncomfortable pry into it and figure out what is making you uncomfortable. Set your boundaries where you are fully comfortable. Enforce them consistently and watch for how they react to you doing this. A good partner always wants you to feel safe and validated. A bad partner is only trying to get his own needs met. It takes some practice to generate this awareness even though it is innate, so meditation and journaling might help you to listen better.

I was listening to a talk about trauma and the speaker said that she would call any form of lying related to sex as sexual coercion and I have to agree with her. Her point was that if you state your sexual boundaries clearly and the man pretends to respect them in order for you to consent having sex with him then what he's doing is coercion. I feel like you're going to attract all kinds of people, and it's up to you to only keep the ones that are not superficial in your life. Right. It's hard to know how to react while still keeping your integrity and safety intact sometimes. I think when the person involved is someone who will face consequences for their actions i.e. you know them or you know someone they know and it'll harm their reputation then they are less likely to be jerks. But if it's a completely random person or someone too powerful to be harmed then their true nature comes out and at that point playing dumb can be safer than being outright confrontational.

I think that applies much more to the "subtle"r forms of harassment like creepy coworkers that escalate over time. If you rebuke them sharply and harshly at the very first instance, they will then call you a witch but the harassment will stop because "she's too dramatic". But if you don't say anything it will keep escalating into worse behavior over time and sometimes you might be trapped in a situation you can't escape which is scary.

Ugh, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. So creepy and immature. No wonder women his age aren't interested.

I feel you on the bill issue. I couldn't ever clearly articulate why I didn't like it when the man didn't even offer to pay. It's not about the money, it's about the offer. And I usually offer to split the bill once they do make the first move. It's the little signs. Like choosing to meet in a place that's only convenient for them without thinking about you. I've declined dates directly when that has happened because it's just so damn unattractive.

The thing that really bothers me is that I'm sure they don't verify that videos related to minors aren't present. Why is hosting and distribution of that content not totally illegal?

I wouldn't take it personally. You could be the hottest, smartest, most adorable thing walking the planet and some dudes will still pull this crap. All it says is he is not ready to even engage with your awesomeness. His loss. And usually it has everything to do with their mental state and readiness to date rather than anything you said or did or are.

This is on point. When a man is into you, he will leave no doubt in your mind that he wants you and wants to take care of you come hell or high water. In return all he wants is your appreciation, respect and love. It's blindingly obvious when it is the case. Any mixed signals are a sign that he's not in that stage yet or might never be. In which case, the woman shouldn't be committing exclusively to him either.

Goddamn girl. This is amazing. You did good. It takes so much energy and effort to get over all the mind bending rationalizations we give ourselves. And you overcame it all. 🙌 Stay the course, your future self is going to be immensely proud of today you.

😑 I hate this crap. Why do they think they are so important that we'd be stuck in the past and have fucks left to give. Moved on ages ago. Get with the program!

The crazy thing about women is that the things you respond to aren’t the things you claim to want IMO that's true of most people in most contexts. They can rationalize their personal motivations and actions all they want, but save for some core principles, there is no telling what's going to click. So "just do it and see how it goes" is a better strategy than theorizing out the wazoo trying to nail that 'perfect' shot.

Sometimes. It depends a lot on who's doing the saying. If there's no inherent respect established, then it's going to be annoying AF. To be in command, you gotta have a strong personality and intrinsic confidence , or it'll fall apart very soon and have the opposite effect.
