I disagree. I went in as enlisted infantry even though I had a degree. Spent 4 years as a grunt before re-classing into a lucrative field. 3 years after leaving Afghanistan I'm making 6 figures, have 0 debt, and can go get another degree for free. My experience as an infantry soldier who saw combat has opened many doors for me. Fellow grunts are everywhere and there's no better brothers to have.

Army vet here. Dropped out of Law School in 2009 to join the infantry as an enlisted soldier. Best decision I ever made. The infantry is still all-male despite the attempts of the SJW's to make it otherwise. I recommend the combat arms and the enlisted side highly. You can become an officer after you've embraced the suck with the grunts.

I was waiting on a certification to come through that I needed to pursue higher $$$ jobs. After sticking with it I got it and started earning.

I learned a big lesson in body language in the military. I've always walked "with a purpose." Head level, large strides, chest out, etc... I never once have been stopped by a higher-ranking enlisted/officer. But the guys who seem "dicked-up," i.e. Low confidence, slouching posture, routinely get intercepted and critiqued/criticized.
