Dude had one-itis REAL BAD. As far as I how that plugs into the wider culture/sex war? I dunno but it seems to me that that people seem to take for granted that woman are going to explore all their options where as I feel there is at least mild pressure placed on men to over-commit too soon.

I think we both know what we would find if we carefully sifted over their social media history. Not a feminist = not employable in Hollywood in the current political climate.

The basic reasoning is that we know certain things are good because good people believe in them and we know that those people are good because they believe in good things. Which is circular logic: we know feminists are smart because feminism is for smart people. And also can we please stop pretending that they aren't smart of people on both sides of this issue? Really, no one intelligent has ever written anything critical of feminism? That it is a pretty big claim. As for closeted homophobes, I …

Informally there is some truth to this. But officially all men need to be remade feminist. I recall seeing a bunch of "how to raise feminist boys" editorials a year or two back.

It is interesting whenever someone does a sketch or some sort of caricature of an RP guy they almost always put a ton of RP jargon in his mouth. Like a typical caricature will have a guy go up to a girl and say something ultra-cringe like "I'm going to lower your bitch shield by negging you" but it will actually be even worse than that. Which is not something an RP guy would ever do if he really understood RP. As if RP were another political or religious system that is looking to propagate itsel…

Some blue collar jobs can pay quite well. But the skilled trades require apprenticeship and being in the field for a while. So it is not that different that the white collar equivalent. A master electrician can do as well as his Dilbert equivalent.

2 points: There is very much a strong desire among left-liberals to draw a great big circle around everything that they perceive to be in their way and lump them all together and hang a sign on it marked "deplorable". It feeds into their need to avoid honestly examining their own politics by externalizing their anxiety onto a simplified single collective "villain." I feel that this poll is an expression of that. If such a poll where to exceed some threshold of 60% or 70%, that OP can say "ah-ha …

With regard to your parents you should go no contact. Even though it will be hard, you just need to totally cut them out of your life. Spend your holidays with aunts or uncles you actually like instead. Even if you do manage to dig past their gas lighting and wrangle an explanation out of them, it won't be anything that they sincerely believe but rather whatever strictly instrumental series of words that they think will best manipulate your emotions in their favor and keep you from walking away.…

Be willing to be bad. Entertain unpopular views in your head. Sound advice but I'm not so sure that most people on TRP think of it in terms of sex strategy = bad, self improvement = good. Admittedly, the primary line of thinking doesn't put sex at its center as the primary reason for self improvement, although you're allowed to enjoy the sexual perks that come with it. Your assumption is that this is done entirely out of fear of social unacceptability but this isn't necessarily true. There could…

newbies to TRP may think it is instead about working on becoming something that women like so women will be more attracted to you. This is blue pill logic and shows that you are still drawn into the frame of whatever girl you are going after. you are pandering to her likes and dislikes in order to get her affection. A fair criticism and worth pointing out. Ideally, you shouldn't want to be like Han because girls like him, you should want to be like Han because he has a confident ZFG personality.…

Second I don't see anyone anywhere in society telling me to be like C-3PO. No one. You're right, it is hyperpole. First, I guess I was using it as a bit of a shortcut for the sake of simplicity. Second, I liked the symmetry of two characters representing two different paths. The two characters who are in a lot of ways polar opposites seemed like handy reference points. But, a lot of detail is lost in the words "C-3PO" and "society." C-3PO is a cartoonish exaggeration by design and some of his tr…

I'm not a religious man but I do have some choice quotes that I enjoy: "Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome woman." -Proverbs 25:24 "Keep reminding God's people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen." - 2 Timothy 2:14 "Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged." -Colossians 3:21

There are things in life of value that are not honor, but I would still exclude those things from the meaning of honor. Honor means you have a reputation of being capable of defending yourself and your own. It is very much closely tied to potential or actual interpersonal or group conflict.
/r/TheRedPill12/04/16 03:56 AM
2

Honor is one of the most misunderstood ideas of our time. As understood through modern pop culture honor means something akin to adherence to an ethical code or fulfilling some set of requirements. This isn't what honor means at all. A weak man doesn't have honor, even if he says his prayers and eats his peas. If someone has honor, it means that they have a particular dispensation of their reputation such that other men cannot insult them or strike at them with impunity.

R6 addresses something really important. A lot of people at some point in their youth obtain some false self image as super smart and wise starchild kung-fu master or some variation thereof. They try to project this image to the outside world, in spite of the fact that most people can see through it. Engaging in new activities and pushing their boundaries would allow a real (but less idealized) person to form on the inside but would also involve exposing the reality that their self image is a li…

Came here to post this^. I don't know if this is the best response overall but if the girl is even somewhat politically outspoken and feminist then she has fucked up badly. This type of shit test really belies the ridiculous idea that "feminism is for liberating men too". If she is using the possibility of homosexuality as a means of insulting someone, there is iron clad implicit homophobia in the shit test. Don't let her off with a simple "no I'm not homophobic", really rake her over the coals …

I will often hear people from older generations say that they made something of themselves in spite of only receiving an eighth grade education. The basic idea is that they were at a disadvantage because their education was cut short and circumstances forced them to enter the job market at 14. Modern sensibilities would agree with this assessment. But maybe we have this up-side-down. Maybe the fact their education ceased in their early teen years was actually an advantage rather than a disadvant…

Rappers are presumed to be from speaking from a position of strength, rap culture is primarily concerned with cultivating a strong image. I think that plays a part as well, that if you are speaking from a position of strength you can say as you please. As a young man I thought rap was dumb but it is actually brilliant.

It is a pretty screwed up situation that men feel pressured to experience emotions that they aren't actually even close to feeling as a means, however ineffectual, of getting pussy. They can even psych themselves up to point where they actually convince themselves that the fake emotions are real. Meanwhile women know what we want and these guys aren't fooling anybody. Men seriously degrade and humiliate themselves when they play into this game.

I wouldn't. It isn't worth sacrificing your success in order to proselytize, which for the most part will fall on deaf ears. The question you should always be asking yourself in any situation is "who has the power?" If the answer isn't "me" then it is best to overtly follow along with received opinion, covertly you can believe whatever you want, i.e. Rule 38. In this case, the professor has the power and you need to plan accordingly.

Side bar worthy. TLP isn't the easiest read but the insights it offers are worth it. Your ego wants to protect itself at all costs, even at the cost your own development and happiness. RP isn't a political movement. RP is entirely concerned with adapting to the world as it really exists, how you live your life and relate to your immediate social circle. By necessity it has to run counter to the propaganda output of actual political movements, most notably feminism, but this, by itself, doesn't make RP a political movement. At no point should any RP thinking be predicated on a step X "... and then we change the world." You can be open to possibility of social change, after all,…

A man needs a full spectrum of development in order to live a good life. Anyone saying to that the secret is that only X matters therefore get as much X as you can is, at best, grossly oversimplifying the complexities of life. A lot of people recommend starting with the body (i.e. lifting, etc) for reasons that it the both addresses a lot of immediate needs but also puts you in favorable position dealing with the other areas of life. Something to keep in mind is that celebrities have a strong stake in their media image, so there is a conflict of interest in that good PR takes priority over honesty. A lot of celebrities have professional handlers that coach them as far what to say in front of the media. So whenever a celebrity says they support X, it doesn't tell you anything about their real opinions. They might really support X but it is just as likely that they could care less either way and just want to avoid a painful me…

It can be fun to speculate about the future and it would certainly be beneficial if boys were given more useful education about their future as part of a standard curriculum. However, one of the major strengths of RP is that isn't a political movement. It isn't in any way predicated upon changing the world, it is all about adapting to the world as it is.

"But it's what's on the inside that matters. They shouldn't care about that." You gave a good answer but I still think you're buying into the media framework to some extent by phrasing it as how people "should" act. There is no "should" about it. Both the inside and the outside matter to everyone and there is nothing wrong with that. It's just a matter of how honest we are about it. Your follow up argument that, in essence, the outside often reflects the inside is rock solid.

The Economist gets a lot a credit for not being allergic to numbers and having lots of cool charts and infograhics. If you spend enough time reading it though you will realize that The Economist has gone downhill. Their politics is mostly economic neo-liberalism and moderate progressivism in all other areas. The entire function of The Economist is to broadcast received opinion to the professional class.

It is funny how many responses demonstrate your point. They're all like "You're probably just saying that because you're weak at logic. I am quite strong at logic, watch helplessly as I CRUSH YOU with my logic!" flexes brain muscles

I'm somewhat regretting my headline. I'm not advising people to completely tank their high school academics. Did anyone read the line "by all means do your homework"? What I'm really advocating here is for people to be well rounded and not construct an identity around academics. A number people have pointed out the high school academics matter in so far that they are a gateway to college. There is a large audience here so they're is a bunch of different academic/career trajectories. Some guys ar…

The flair is Red Pill Theory not sexual strategy. Sex is central to red pill but red pill is really about life strategy from a realistic perspective unhindered by any prior systems of thinking.

In the thread title I was exaggerating a bit for effect but I clarified my point in the OP. What I'm really addressing here is a particular type of special snowflake syndrome that can lead to stunted development. What these guys do is take a very narrow definition of intelligence and place it, and by extension themselves, at the center of the universe. And they do this with only the vaguest understanding of what lies ahead. Not to mention the eight years of high school plus college (possibly fol…

Thank you I will check that out. "Arrested development" is a good way to put it. It really is a type of immaturity.

"Special snowflake" is not a synonym for exceptional. "Special snowflake" refers to a type of narcissism in which the subject is focused on crafting an image of being exceptional. The idea of their own uniqueness becomes a core part of their identity. As for your main point, very generally TRP is about raising your SMV by cultivating strength or at least the image of strength. Strength can refer to physical strength but also any number of masculine attributes. The basic idea is to increase your …

This is what I meant. They will make a very ambiguous statement that women make $0.77 for every dollar that a man makes, which is a true statement but is used in a very misleading fashion. Some commentators will even tack on "for the same work" at the end which is false.

I think the idea here is to pick and choose from his ideas a la carte, not that you have to buy into his entire system either pre or post conversion. If X developed ideas about personal liberation as an vehicle for black nationalism, keep the former and leave the latter.

Playing sports isn't a silver bullet but is enormously beneficial over just doing whatever. It doesn't really directly address how to deal with women but is red in respect to physical and social development. It is the single biggest thing that a boy can do to help himself and the closest thing to a mass marketed RP for boys that actually exists.

You could probably make a difference in the lives of the people around you. 2 things immediately come to mind. Encourage any young men to play sports with the knowledge that the first year of doing just about anything worthwhile consists of being terrible at it and hazing. Sports replicate core masculine activities that go back well before the beginning of recorded history: warfare and hunting. Sports will allow them to develop physically in a pro-masculine environment. This advice is not relian…

No, personality is shaped by both biology and environment. This is covered in any university intro psych class (twin studies, etc). If you had been raised in a different family but were still biologically "you", your personality would be different than what it is now. I think sometimes people will overreact to the social constructionism of progressives and rush to the other pole, going much further than is actually justified. Progs overemphasize nurture to satisfy their prior political commitmen…

Just to play devils advocate here, this is functionally the same as tinder except the part where men swipe right on nearly everything will just be assumed and baked in from the beginning. So no big difference between the two and Bumble is just more efficient. In either case, you're in a looks based commodity market so any moral anguish is silly at this point. Not saying that it will take off necessarily, just that it is not an entirely senseless idea.

I can't really tell from the OP how severe this is and what the guys actual deal is. A lot of guys will trash talk each other for fun but on the other hand this guy might be really out to tear you down for his own social benefit. The guy might be trying to be friends with you but you will need to figure that our yourself. I will just assume that this is at the worse end of the spectrum. Be observant. If you listen to the lyrics of most music it's catered to high school kids (that age group at least). The themes are really repetitive whether it is falling in love, breaking up, ridicule from being different, going against the grain, rebelling against the imposed rules of society, being yourself. These are all common themes, thoughts and stages that every kid growing up can relate to and goes through. It's more easily identifiable in certain bands such as Linkin Park and Three Days Grace but Me…

I guess I can give him props for ballsiness, indifference to social convention, and a flair for the dramatic. His music can be catchy and get you pumped up in the same fashion as club music. And of course the chief value that he talks about when interviewed, "think for yourself", is red. But where do we go from there? A lot of his music is anchored in a sense of grievance and injury. There is, or at least was, a huge audience for that. I think they do themselves a disservice by taking Manson ser…

Listen to "Antichrist Superstar," the subtext is heavily reactionary and decidedly anti-progressive. Some bands will use fascist imagery because it grabs attention and pushes peoples emotional buttons in various ways, chiefly by offending old people and that images of power are exciting for young men. That just makes it shock rock and doesn't necessarily reflect a band's politics. By itself the lyrics for "Antichrist Superstar" are pretty ambiguous, as a metaphor it could describe any scenario i…

I haven't read the book but found this line interesting: some mothers (or other caregivers) kill off self-determination and initiative in the child and causes long term repression of aspects of the self in the child I think it is harmful to give children IQ tests or at least the scores should only be made available to parents and administrators because it can lock the child into a certain way of thinking about themselves and also locks them into specific life paths. Misconceptions about women that I learned as a kid: If you want sex with a woman then she will see right through you and reject you on that basis. Women are only concerned with obtaining relationships and commitment. Women are only tricked into having casual sex or one night stands by being lured into thinking that it will lead to a relationship. Women only ever want to exit a relationship with a man that abuses her or treats her badly in some way.

It is a specific type of posing where a person will try to project an image of being more intelligent or educated. Signaling language or "$10 college words" are a hallmark of this. It is alienating, in other words it creates unnecessary social distance. Broadly speaking, most masculine cultures are plainspoken. It is fine to have intellectual interests but just be aware of the lure of grandiosity. I don't know if it is practical to have perfect alignment between your inner self and outer (i.e. s…

How to be with other Men In a subtle way this might be the most important item on the list. It seems counter-intuitive that male friendships would make you better with women but I believe it is true. That is true but you should also keep in mind that NPR is really pretentious. The main product on offer from NPR is an identity, specifically an image of yourself as smart, cultured, and educated. There is an affected pose of "we're so smart and benevolent" that hangs over a considerable portion of its programming. They have good programming, just always remember that taken as a whole it is also designed to elicit certain emotions. Another thing to be aware of is that a lot of NPR content are "J…

4 is too vague and really bad advice depending on how you want to read it. School yard sparing or taking up training in a combat sport or not looking/sounding like a soft target all sound perfectly reasonable. But ultimately anyone who is very keen on starting a street fight is a total wildcard, has a high level of aggression, and believes, correctly or not, that he has the upper hand. Good point. #7 is correct but incomplete. It should really say something like "Don't do politics at all. Mass politics operates above a human scale and is beyond almost anyone's control at this point.
