I really didn't know much about her, just stumbled on this link from another blog and really liked what she had to say! And how feminine she is. :D

I also like how they offhandedly destroy 2 myths feminism perpetuates: The census reports that “the average adult woman in the US is more likely to be a college graduate than the average adult man.” Moreover, today’s young, childless female city-dwellers with college degrees are out-earning their male counterparts by 8 cents on the dollar. While still making out women to be the victim.

Oh what a good reminder! I don't like "making waves", but I need to remind myself that what my bf WANTS is to hear what I'm thinking and how I'm feeling. Nice to hear others go through something similar. :)

Care to share the routine? I do minimal makeup daily because my bf doesn't like makeup, but it might be fun to so some subtle stuff. :)

I think /u/CoochQuarantine had a great explanation. This post also touches on it in a slightly different way that may be helpful.

A woman must be respected, but secondarily to feeling loved. A man must be loved, but secondarily to being respected. What a great distinction. I've struggled with trying to explain love>respect for women, but that makes so much sense.

This is one of my favorite movies and it was enlightening to rewatch it with a RP lens. A couple things stuck out to me: - It impressed me how loyal Trent is. He stands up for his friends and doesn't let anyone speak negatively of Mike. - Dancing with someone who knows how to dance well and lead is hot, and that's the only time Mike was successful.

Also just a heads up (though it seems like the advice varies a bit), it's best to do a self-examination at the same time every month. Ideally, a couple of days after your period ends (as this is when there should be the least amount of swelling). http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/breast-exam/basics/how-you-prepare/prc-20020418

I still read it occasionally but it pretty much is all Team Woman now - I look at it as examples of AWALT.

It reminded me of how it's said: you have to love yourself before you can love someone else. It follows that you need to respect yourself to respect the choices you make. I never heard it put that way, but that resonates with me even more than the original.

Well, I'm not OP but my bf doesn't really like that I read this subreddit. He was raised pretty liberal, feminist mom and so his automatic reaction was confusion/disapproving. So although the reaction may be based in ignorance, I don't feel like it's really my place to "convert" or educate him. I'm open to suggestions or ideas though.

Do you have any suggestions on how to take things less personally? I'm good with most people, but I tend to get oversensitive when my boyfriend says something critical or gets short with me.

I did brazilian waxes for years and have recently (in the last year) switched to sugaring (brazilian). I love it! It's way less painless for me and I got few to no ingrown hairs (my skin is very sensitive).

Have you seen Brene Brown's Ted talk on vulnerability? I don't know if it will give you explicit steps, but I think what it comes down to is: be grateful; have compassion for yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCvmsMzlF7o

Oh man, that perspective switch (be thankful vs be defensive) is crucial! And I've never thought about it quite that way. Thanks for that!

Hm, yeah I suppose the analogy breaks down a little bit from that perspective. However, I think the way the author describes treatment of a guest holds up: if you hold your SO in more esteem than you would another person in your house, shouldn't you treat your SO as well or better than that person? Interesting point about guests being exhausting too - I'm very introverted and can definitely relate to that. Though I personally do have some people that I would be very happy to have visit and it wo…

This really rubbed me the wrong way too. Not only is it very demanding, it is stating why she believes men are deficient. I know it's not the point of the article, but no where does it mention what she'll bring to a relationship.

The rules revisited is a very accessible blog, written by a man to women. The below post discusses how controllable a woman's appearance is, and breaks down how much time you should allot to improving different aspects: http://www.therulesrevisited.com/2011/09/feminine-beauty-is-highly-controllable.html?m=1 You are in control of more than you think :)

STFU also means body language. Eye rolling is not you STFU’ing. Gasping with exasperations is you not STFU’ing. Pouting is you not STFU’ing. Thank you for emphasizing that! I'm pretty quiet generally, but I become even more quiet (and pouty) when I'm upset. I think the suggestion to smile right away is very important. Building that muscle memory will in turn help you direct your thoughts toward a more productive end. I also really appreciated your step by step breaking down what happened. Someti…

I need to hear this! My SO's love language is physical touch as well, and I thought it was sufficient to participate in physical contact but I know it would help to initiate it as well.

I agree that waiting and evaluating your feelings can be helpful. But I also think that can make something into a bigger deal than it is. I haven't tried it yet, but I personally liked what Laura Doyle had to say: http://www.reddit.com/r/RedPillWomen/comments/38dobv/im_laura_doyle_author_of_the_surrendered_wife_ama/cruany3 Sometimes just saying "ouch!" in the moment might be enough to let go of the feeling.

Thanks for the great reminder! I'd been feeling like I've been generally being a good RPW, but I needed some focus/objectivity. For me: 1) You continue to do things you know your husband dislikes (even if what he likes is not stereotypically RPW!) and 7) You manipulate your husband to get your own way. That one's a little tough to admit, because I hate to think of myself as manipulative. However, when I'm upset, I tend to go automatically to silent treatment. I'm really trying hard to vocalize (…

It's definitely RP in the way that you noticed he didn't like something you were doing and altered your actions in a way that pleased him, and in turn, made you happy. You listened to and observed your SO and adjusted - that is RP!

I think this is a great point: there are some things your SO may WANT to be reminded (nagged). This speaks to the point that there's no one size fits all! You should be doing the things your man wants/asks you to do. Your relationship will not look like every other RP relationship.

Beautifully put! My SO has said that the things that take the most effort are those that are most worth it.

In high school, I purposely dressed like a tomboy because I wouldn't (couldn't?) accept the double standard that women were supposed to be feminine and look nice. I wanted to be different, so I claimed I didn't want to get married or have kids, and ended up being the same as most other women. (Though I always claimed I wasn't a feminist!) After another failed relationship, I realized there was something I was doing wrong - you know the definition of insanity. I started googling relationship advi…

Just wanted to add another note of thanks for sharing your story. I also really liked your point about "reacting vs responding" in a comment. Something for me to keep in mind! My challenge is being conscious/self aware enough to recognize when I'm not letting go of control. You're right - trust and the RP aren't a sometimes thing.

Thanks for your story! It's a great reminder for me as well - I think I'm a good RPW when I'm happy/times are good, but it's the not so good times that are important. And that's when I slip. Wishing you well!

This post was really helpful to me: http://www.reddit.com/r/RedPillWomen/comments/2c0wwt/how_to_learn_to_bite_my_tongue_and_not_be_so/ But thank you also for the reminder that I should tell my SO my feelings and to trust him to deal with them as he sees fit!
