That phrase was around in the 1990s at the very least.

I realize that. That isn't the problem. I wouldn't dare risk it with someone who wasn't giving clear IOIs. The problem is getting over AA because of the circumstances. I wouldn't risk my job.

Care to link me to even one of those studies? I've yet to see that ever pop up here, and my skepticism is high. The 110 lb girl who has to deflect 15 passes made at her a day is at the same risk as a 175 lb dude? I'm not saying it doesn't happen, because it's happened to me. But it's unlikely overall in my experience. I've had girls try to take advantage of me when I was too drunk, but even then the appropriate response wouldn't be to kick their ass. Big difference between that and a girl who ha…

You know, I realize that this is MR, and I am here as a guy who generally agrees with what I see here. However, almost all of my friends are female, and at 30, I'm sad to say that only a handful have not experienced some sort of sexual abuse or rape at some point in their lives. The odds that a woman will be at risk for harassment or abuse is far higher than it is for men, and even so, males are far more likely to try to fight back and defend themselves, while women are more likely to feel that …

Gender roles may be for idiots, but there a lot of damage done in having generations of men raised by women. I've been doing a lot of research into gangs recently, and one of the overwhelming commonalities worldwide seems to be a lack of a male influence in the lives of the boys growing up, so once they hit adolescence (or earlier, sometimes), they start banding together with other boys in a way to seek their own manhood. You throw poverty and boredom in the mix, and you get violence; you move a…

I'm the same way, and there is never usually any question that I am the dirtiest motherfucker in the room. However, I can think of a few times a few years back (I was still recovering from an especially bad breakup, and my mojo was just depleted) where my usually crass and sexual humor was regarded as "creepy", a first for me. It was all about my delivery-a little bit of fine tuning, and I was able to crack up the room without the creep-vibe.

You're making things sexual too quickly. You want to get sex on their minds, but you have to be a little smoother and time it right. When you jump into it like that, I think it makes them think you're just looking at them as pieces of meat. You want her to retain a little sense of her dignity so she thinks she's got some control, even if you're calling the shots. After you warm them up a bit, it's easier to segue into sexual talk. Also, doing it in front of a group makes it easier for them to di…

Just down the road is still 3-4 miles away. No time in a car, but still a good trek on foot. Denied thanks to shitty urban planning. If she doesn't flake out again, I should hopefully see her soon. I'm pretty sure I'll see girl C again. Girl B can go fuck herself.

I've found that a lot of attractive women are actually pretty highly intelligent, but downplay their intellect because society seems to push away applying those qualities. Do you ever try to steer the conversation towards more intellectual things and see if she latches on?

Hey dude, I'd say move on. Make her come to you, and look for other girls. Like it was said above, she's probably a cold fish and not worth your time, and trying to nail her down for a date is certainly not worth it at this point.

I think with women (not just when you're trying to get them, but after you have them too) any time they put you in a situation for conflict over text, do not take the bait. No matter what, you cannot win. You will not win. You will most likely come off like a chump, and possibly have to backpedal. Go do something instead, and forget about your phone for a few hours.

well, looks like she "happened" to read this post in her browsing reddit, just a few hours after I posted. Subsequently deleted me from Facebook, and deleted her Reddit account, because I might have been "keeping tabs on her." Of course, if she's following my posts, I must be cyber-stalking her right? Wait...what? Sigh

naw, I'm done. The time I should have been using to find another job and move forward was distracted by the inexplicable fights over nothing, and the mental anguish that accompanied how quickly my head started spinning from how WTF the whole thing was. The reason why it ended is because I got sick of the bullshit, and while I might miss the company, there's plenty of other women out there, and being an interesting and charismatic guy, attracting them isn't that difficult. I had a similar thing h…

maybe it's petty, but I'm not losing my ipod, nor the books that are dear to me that she has (or the books that were loaned to her by a friend of mine). The only leverage she has left is with this shit, and she's dragging it out instead of putting it to bed. I suspect the fact that I'm only the second guy who has dumped her has something to do with this. Eventually, it'll be settled, but it's frustrating for the moment, and I'm moving on and meeting other women.

nope. some beers at the bar, and maybe a little Taco Bell. The prior 4 months, I covered all the food, going out, weed, etc. 2 weeks after I got fired, she suddenly removed all of her things from my apartment, where she had been more or less living since we started dating. I thought everything was good until the cash flow stopped...and even then, I spent a ridiculous amount of my remaining funds to keep her happy and entertained. Once I had to start saying "I can't afford that right now," the tr…

This is only tangentially related, but I have to get it off my chest (and since the girl is a Redditor, this is one of the only places I can vent it). Got canned from my job, which sucks and is stressful enough. Relationship of 4 months or so suddenly goes from great to sour, lots of little fights over nothing, her taking a bad attitude with me for no reason, etc. Nevermind that I'm finishing the last month of a busy semester of school and the economy sucks, the fact that I'm spending a lot of t…

I worked at a Whole Foods where there was one cashier that the women would always go to, no matter how short the other lines were. Tall, good looking, confident...and I know that he cleaned up well with the ladies just from cashiering alone. I'd say they are still looking, same as us, but they somehow manage to not get quite as distracted. I'd also say that if you're trying to pick up a cashier on her job, you're kind of a jerk.

you know, this is on the better side of embarrassing and I should probably make a fake account, but whatevs. I went through about a year of a really traumatic relationship with extremely sporadic sex, followed by a few month reprieve due to some new ass, then followed by a couple years of no sex due to a combo of life situations, recovery from the last real relationship, and more than anything, lingering hangups because of the sexual relationship I was in in the relationship. Point being, I reso…

funny you mention this, as I just met a female redditor in the wild last night (and f-closed), and made sure to avoid mentioning seddit, tho I don't think this one would be as bothered by it as other girls.

A few days ago, I asked a question here ("Sleeping with the boss") that I knew was probably out of place here. I thought about asking it in one of the relationship subreddits, but knew that the answers I would get here would be the right kind to give me the focus I needed. So, I am sorry, but there is something to be said for the quality of perspective here.

Why would you want to bother? I dunno...hipsters strike me as an especially sexless lot. They already are smug and think they're the greatest invention since sliced bread (and just as white)...I'd neg and deflate egos like it was going out of style.

When I've dated and cared, they generally don't want to stay. When I've dated and not given much of a damn, it's hard to make them go. What're you supposed to do? Well, shit...either way, my sex drive makes me feel like a junkie looking for a fix, so I have to do something. In that case, the question really becomes "Who is this going to hurt worse: you or me?" And then self-preservation takes over. I'm sorry ladies, because I'd really like to hold you close, stroke your hair, and maybe get to kn…

I lived in Seattle for about 3.5 years, and Portland for about 6 months. It was far easier to hook up in Portland-in fact, when I finally was able to snag a smart, attractive chick, it was because of visiting portland. So...good luck. Almost everyone I know in Seattle suffers from this.

Let your friend give you kissing lessons. Seriously. It will give a boost of confidence to your ego that you need, so you may not choke up and instead go for what you want. If you're that green, you're no doubt intimidated to make a move. Take action.

Most of my friends are chicks. There has been sex or sexual tension with most of them. I'm glad for it, because I've developed deeper understanding with the ones I've slept with, and the ones i haven't are remarkably good at calling me on my bullshit, and I love them all the more for it. Don't try to sleep with your friends. It will happen naturally. Don't reject the ones who you don't sleep with, because they may become your best allies later.

My guess is that you are coming off too aggressive and maybe a bit desperate. Reel it in a little and play it more off the cuff and like you're not trying to score. Seriously, don't give a fuck. Women can smell that a mile away. Especially in groups of friends, this is only going to make you look bad; better to be interesting and witty and see who responds, then move in more.

So what are you actually saying, that a sex column written by men for other men would be homogenous and wouldn't please all men? I think what I'm actually saying is that a sex column written by men for other men wouldn't necessarily please all women. The problem is that women are fickle, and what works on one won't necessarily work on another. You totally missed my point. I never implied that such a column would be bad or a problem. All the sex advice in women's magazines will also do nothing to…

I have checked them out. I'm formerly from Seattle-I'm quite aware of Dan Savage. I'm not saying that men don't need sex advice, and porn certainly isn't the way to get it. I'm saying that the advice for a single man and one in a relationship is apt to be a lot different, because after a while, no amount of skills in the bedroom are going to make her as wet as taking out the trash and cleaning the bathroom without being asked.
/r/MensRights07/05/10 03:41 AM

The problem is that the sex advice than men need is fairly mixed. For the guy on a one night stand, tips on eating pussy are great. For the guy three years into a relationship, tips on how to clean the carpet are great. How do you market that?

The point where this turned into "blah blah blah" for me: "Maxim" is full of hot women that "We Like", which presumably means that the entire male hetereosexual population at large has exactly the same taste in women, which is hopefully not the case. You know, I'm not typically into a lot of the women you'd find in Maxim myself...but not for the reasons this chick means. I still love beautiful women, just maybe not airbrushed celebrity types (and maybe with a bit more edge than the typical Maxim…

You know, I wanted to dislike this, but I couldn't. These guys were pussies, plain and simple. If men want to get together and hang out, they should just fucking do it. There's no need to form a support group. I agree that men should be able to talk more openly and be able to air their feelings, but the guys (all of them, including the professor) seemed like they'd all had their balls clipped. Don't wait for women to give you permission; just do it. That's sorta what being a man is about. Heming…

In my experience, bisexuals (be they male or female) still end up preferring relationships with the opposite sex. That doesn't mean they don't want to have homosexual encounters, but when it comes to anything serious, most folks tend to pick a side.

I think it's perfectly simple. I take my pill, you take your pill, and that way there's little chance of an "oops" down the road. Sign me up. Trust me baby, I'll remember that shit even if I don't remember your sister's middle name or whatever other trivial nonsense you can't cope with. I can't cope with an unwanted pregnancy, shotgun weddings, or the rest. Some guys will abuse it, I'm sure-"I'm clean and I'm on the pill"-but you take that as it comes and hope people can recognize a bullshitter.

I don't see a need to outlaw something that is dying a generational death. I'm waiting for the day when the churches reverse their stance on gay marriage just so they can still have a reason to perform them.
