As someone who’s been divorced for 4 years and on the dating apps it’s still a bit surprising how divorced women rarely take responsibility for the rupture and collapses of their marriages. It’s always the man’s fault. They’re telling me this knowing that I’m a divorced man which shows such a lack of situational awareness imo.

That’s progress. Onwards and upwards. Best of luck to you.

From my POV I’m not appreciating your friend giving you all these details. Shows a lack of empathy and consideration. Nothing he told you was of value and would only cause pain. So not sure what level of friend he is to you but I wouldn’t call that being loyal. It was more like cruel.

Through the grieving process we all have our Mopey Dick moments and setbacks. Same ship as yours too but only a different flavour of betrayal. Detaching takes time. That meaningful connection you’re searching for takes time and resilience. It’s important, as a man, to prepare yourself to be alone for the rest of your life. I feel like only then will you have the emotional intelligence and availability to find your life partner. Otherwise, it’s likely someone says they like you and, god forbid, l…

Few things are more destabilising for a human than realising you married the wrong person. The psychological, financial, physical, etc damage is all encompassing especially if you’ve been married for years. Is it worth it? Nope. An authentic partnership doesn’t need a piece of paper for validation. 50 years ago both men and woman respected the sanctity of “from death do us part.” These days marriage is simply a transaction that has totally lost its romantic sheen. If your relationship needs a te…

I think you’re using Reddit for its intended purpose. But, hopefully, you picked up on the fact that too much curiosity about your STBX is unhealthy. As someone who’s on the other side of divorce I would say real growth comes from not giving two shits about what your ex is doing. That development of antipathy is a beautiful thing. Good luck.

This is the way to go including staying away from alcohol, weed, pills, etc. The point is to not trade the negative emotions for a crutch. It’s easier said than done and takes extraordinary discipline. Most people fall off the wagon at one point during the healing journey. I think divorce is like a trauma and needs to be treated as such. Otherwise we risk getting even more fucked up. I see a lot of men falling off a cliff myself included. It happens and is usually recoverable but the journey tak…

Firstly, thank you for your service and what you’ve endured to keep our country secure. Secondly, she’s angry because she failed at life in her opinion. That can’t be her fault so it has to be yours. It’s also easier to be angry than in pain.

Sounds like you enabled her to behave this way. She took advantage of your knighthood but you made it easy for her. She does not have the moral character to restrain herself from overstepping boundaries. When presented with a moral challenge some of us will rise to the occasion, others will falter. Good character is typically nurtured at home. From what you described doesnt sound like she had good role models at home whereas you did. Im truly sorry for your situation. Life has a way of turning a…

All relationships have an expiration date now. My gut says no way someone getting married today will ever go the distance. Not when we live to be a hundred and there are so many temptations out there. So many distractions that take a person in a couple away from why they got married in the first place. No way. If you get married today, there should be a pre-nup full stop. This isn’t the 1950s. The romantic notion of marriage is just a nostalgic echo from movies, religion, old family members (who…

Man, I feel you. I punched above my weight too. Sure was nice when I was fit as fuck. But then I focused on earning stacks of cash like she wanted because she’s a materialistic pos that likes trips to Italy. When I got a little doughy she cheated on me. Not with a a physical dude but the lord almighty. Started going to church 4-5 times per week. Still think she had an affair with the priest (Orthodox Christian). Now she does the same thing. Asking me questions that she should know or answer with…

I think you kind of said it in your post. After the loss of your son, she was all you had left. So you desperately clung to her. Love is not generated or maintained out of desperation. It takes two and she didn’t pull her weight. Your ex is doing you a favour by making it clear you two are over. She doesn’t want you thinking they’ll ever be a “sorry, come back” reunion love fest. No single person on this earth should ever have the power to make you want to kill your set. Good god, man, do you re…

That’s horrible. All that money going to attorneys when she could be getting some if she would just be fair about the settlement.

For how long?

How long was your relationship? I’m at 10 years and I expect changes especially from someone that I met in her mid-20s and now in her mid-30s. Lots of “finding herself” drama and the inability to prioritise our partnership over her nosy family that intrudes at every juncture. We’re their signs of what I see now? Yes, for certain but I ignored them. Tbh, I thought she’d outgrow and mature more (I’m older) but instead she regressed especially after we moved back to her home country.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
