He undoubtedly assaulted and even raped many women. Do you have proof or are you going to run around spouting your opinion as fact?

Bitches never get drunk without a plan. Women can stand in front of a closet with $10,000 of clothes and say they have nothing to wear. They most certainly can, and do, get drunk without a plan.

Lawyers lose money because there will be less fighting. Lawyers make the laws. This has absolutely nothing to do with what's best for the children and families. It's all about money.

He only vetoed the alimony bill the first time because it included the language for the time-sharing. Ever since, the alimony reform group has been trying to get the bill introduced without anything related to time-sharing. Unfortunately, it was included in this year's bill but they rewrote it so that it would be more agreeable to those opposing it. The second time, they never even presented it to him because he flat out said he wouldn't even entertain it during an election year. Now that he's o…

But a healthy kid with no issues, with parents that live within twenty minutes of each, has a good chance at 50/50 timesharing. That's all well and good but there is no reason for it not to legally be the presumption. Just like at 17 years of marriage in Florida, LIFETIME alimony is the current legal presumption. I faced that and I wasn't even 40 years old. I could have paid alimony for more than twice the length of my marriage when my ex has a Masters Degree gathering dust on the shelf because …

I wish this was true. They start out like this, but when you hit the 5-6 month mark they all freak the fuck out saying "what is this? I'm getting older and don't have time for games? I disagree. Ultimatums and boundary setting are extremely useful to set expectations...as long as you're willing to follow through with the consequences you warned her of. Not following through is what gives her the upper hand. After my divorce, I met a lady on Tinder and we hit it off. On date #2, she told me she wasn't finished with her divorce but it was almost done. I told her no problem as long as it was truly almost done, but there is a limit to the relationship if she didn't finish it up.…

you could greatly reduce the child support you pay by quitting your job and working part time for a while until the child support amount is set. Judges see these games ALL the time. They will impute your income to previous levels and then you'll be paying support based on a salary you no longer make. Lord forbid you then can't get a job at your previous level of income. She's going to find it very difficult to even determine if you make more money and even harder to get the state to go after you…

She wants to hurt him in some way. Why? Who the fuck knows. She doesn't even know. She just knows she wants to hurt him. My ex wife tried to make me an every other weekend father after she told me she wanted a divorce and I didn't do the divorce the way she wanted. Her response was to try to minimize my involvement in our children's lives after 17 years of marriage. She didn't get what she wanted any step of the way because logic won out over emotion.

While your comment sounds good, the practicality (in the US at least) is completely wrong. The only way to avoid child support is if the mother truly does not want support from you and never goes to the government for support or assistance. If mom needs welfare, the government will come find you even if the mother doesn't ask them to. If mom does want support, a judge will track you down and order you to pay and won't let you have a minute with the child until you start fighting for it. And then…

Im a fan of this Sub but at some point we have to acknowledge men do and will continue to oppress. Men do and will continue to fight to be at the top and everyone else will continue to call it oppression. But I believe its more of a survival of the fittest thing instead of a gender thing. It just so happens that more women are affected because, surprise, men and women are different.

being shady and being good lawyer don't have to be mutually exclusive He's using a flawed system for his own gain under the guise of doing what's in the best interest of his client. It doesn't make what he's doing wrong since it's allowed, but a system that allows this to happen is not a good system.

it varies wildly from state to state. In Florida there's a presumption of lifetime alimony at 17 years of marriage. In Texas, alimony is capped at 3 years barring extenuating circumstances.

The court usually awards 50% of gross income. That's a very big generalization and not really true. In any case, the situation I'm referring to never went in front of the judge. He agreed to it thinking he'd be able to make more money, but he was wrong.

The good news is that she has a lot of hoops she'd have to go through to get an increase in alimony. The simple fact that I got extra money from somewhere would not be enough. She has to prove a "significant change in circumstance." The problem is that there is no real definition of "significant". The judge gets to decide what is significant. Not true. As their father, you have just as much control as their mother, regardless of your marital status. Not necessarily. If an unwed couple has a child, the biological father is not legally the father unless he signs the birth certificate or raises the child as his own for most of the child's life. If he doesn't, he then has to register as the "putative father" (if such a registry exists in his state) to have the paternity of the child determined by the courts.

Yeah, I could work extra or open a business but you have to do it with the assumption that the ex will come after you for her pound of flesh at the rate you're currently paying, in my case this is 25% of my salary, and child support will increase as soon as she calls the state's child support agency to review my financials. Then the government gets their taxes so take off another 25%-30%. You get less than half the money for doing all the work and you only get paid after the ex-wife and the gove…

I know a few women who are paying alimony and all of them are seething deep down because "a woman should never have to pay a man" but they all divorced their husbands because they were the lower income earners and didn't respect them because of it.

There's no set formula for alimony in my state. The court bases alimony off the need of one spouse and the ability of the other to pay. Both are very nebulous concepts with a lot of room for interpretation for the judge. They also don't want one spouse to "pass into poverty" as a result of divorce so they try to maintain the marital standard of living...which is impossible when you split up into two households. The issue was that I was facing lifetime alimony because of the length of my marriage…

right or wrong, it's a surefire way to get the prenup thrown out They call it duress because the invitations have been sent, the deposits have all been paid, the extended family is already arriving in town so the wife feels forced to sign under the circumstances.

When two people are getting divorced, the focus is almost solely on the other spouse and how you can screw them over. The lawyers love this because they can run up the bill and most divorces are settled outside of court so judges aren't even in the picture most of the time.

I appreciate it and I have come to terms with the situation. And yes, it's only temporary. There is an end date to all of this so I won't need to do anything drastic. Are you from the US? You can find a reason to sue anyone. Case in point, my original post. Even after a judge granted her $100,000 a month in child support, she kept taking him back to court over and over for more money. If lawyers see a payday, they'll file a lawsuit.

Don't forget that this also happens to "regular" men everyday. I pay my Master's degree educated ex who refused to get a job 25% of of my salary as alimony for the next 7 years. The system allows women (and a few men) the ability to harass the higher wage earner via the legal system with almost no repercussions until it just becomes easier to pay to make them go away.

You can always say no, but that doesn't mean she'll just say "OK" and go away. Some lawyers see an ex-husband with access to a lot of money and a delusional ex-wife as an easy mark. The ex will never give up so the lawyer can always claim that he's just following the wishes of his client, running up fees as he goes.

All that stuff is great but if you have a truly committed relationship where there is trust and both of your needs are being met, you don't need a "constant reminder". If you need a constant reminder, it sounds like you're acknowledging that there is still a shred of doubt that your husband might pack up and leave so you want the legal ability to "recover" what you feel you're owed. Or at the very least, you want a legal document that you can use to attempt to control the situation, i.e. make hi…

One question for you since your reply is making sure that the man shows that he's fully committed... What is it that you will bring to the marriage to make it worth the risk of possibly ending up divorced?

Does that apply to Canada as well? I don't know, but I can't imagine Canada would be much different than the US when it comes to the children. Definitely talk to your lawyer about this.

The problem is that while you want the traditional and old fashioned marriage, the laws today reward the lower income spouse if they decide to leave. My ex has the EXACT same views on marriage as you but when she tired of me, she hauled ass and took 25% of my salary with her. There's no risk to her leaving. Me on the other hand, I paid $20 to get married and will pay $200,000 to get out. All because of that little piece of paper and "tradition". Not a very good deal.
/r/TheRedPill26/09/14 04:23 PM

The biggest problem I have with her right now, is she is asking for advice from this guy about our children It sucks, but you can't do a thing about it. The one thing you must do is document EVERYTHING. If she starts doing things that are considered parental alienation, then your case will be a slam dunk. In the meantime, encourage her relationship with the new lover, you'll get out cheaper and faster. Don't show that these things bother you because then she'll just try to bug you even more.
/r/askTRP26/09/14 04:00 PM

I used to think the same thing. Now that I'm divorced, each of my kids have told me how much better it is now that my ex and I are divorced. The kids sense that your marriage as shit so what you're really teaching them is that it's ok to stay in a terrible relationship and be unhappy.

Week three rolls around and we meet for dinner. About 45 minutes in, she stops abruptly and says "I've been lying to you. I'm a stripper." I expected this question to come up and no, it was clear where the night was headed and I had been escalating all night. I'm probably older than most on this sub and this woman was my age. The question arose more out of her frustrations with others she dated and specifically her ex husband. The proper frame is to find a way that allows you to take care of things around the house and allows you time for your hobbies. This is a time management issue, not a fairness issue. How old are your kids? Make them do some of the work as chores. Get up an hour early and do a load of laundry or pick up the house. If you do these things and she's still complaining about fairness, then that's her problem. She can learn to manage her time better just like you did and enjoy her own hobbies.

The quote below is the basis for alimony awards in my state. It comes straight from the appellate court. It essentially means that the standard is to add up your combined incomes, divide by two and the higher earning spouse gives the difference to the other in order for things to be "fair". “[A] trial judge must ensure that neither spouse passes automatically from misfortune to prosperity or from prosperity to misfortune, and, in viewing the totality of the circumstances, one spouse should not b…
