Sometimes it is good to be able to match another persons state, so I wouldn't necessarily call it "improving". I have dipped by toes in NLP. It is very hard to remove the feelings, so as you've discovered you don't want her in your social life. Unfortunately your only real option in your current setting is to make it appear as if you don't care. Focus on these other girls you're picking up and your hobbies (hopefully lifting weights).
