It’s doable, my sister’s husband is 8 years older but they are both on the same page financially, emotionally, physically and maturity level. You have to find someone at your level. The problem with the older single men looking for younger women is that they try to play “I’m the king of the castle - do as I say” or the “I’m the baby of the castle - I need a mommy”. Also still be open to younger guys who are at your level. My husband is 4 years younger then me and has the same HV qualities as my …

When I was 23 I dated a guy who was 33. He was always at the college parties but I figured he was around my age. After dating for about 2 weeks I just felt something was off, I couldn’t tell what. Once I was in my 30s I realized that he was emotionally immature for his age and there was signs he wanted to be controlling of the relationship. I’m so glad my instincts kicked in and I got out even though I couldn’t tell what was triggering my instincts at 23.

As my husband says “ sex is the cherry on top” what is important is that we have a sound, loving relationship with strong communication, support for each other and intimacy that is not sex based. This comes first because he is in this relationship for life and sex will come and go due to life’s up and downs. If you base a relationship on sex you have nothing when times get rough.

If your other friends are seeing the signs of abuse too maybe site her down with them and have a conversation about your concerns. Start with talking about her HVW qualities and that you admire her for that but you are concerned her boyfriend does not value her the way the rest of the people in her life value her. Talk about the abuse and controlling signs and the resources you mentioned in your post. Don’t talk about your past relationship that way she can’t say you are projecting. If she does …

He wants to try “different things”…. He’s describing women as “things” not people but “things”

HVM won’t care what your age is and will love you for you. If the guy doesn’t like your age then that’s on him and his insecurities. He is not worth your time. My fiancé is 36 and I’m 40 and age is never a factor in our relationship. For my birthday my fiancé treated 40 as an achievement and celebrated my strengths and accomplishments. Never did he make any “over the hill” jokes or old lady jokes.

Legally changing to my last name to hyphenated both of ours. But for work I’m keeping my last name.

It worked for my fiancé and I. We had a nice brunch and then went for a walk. He still dressed nice and was a gentleman. He took the date seriously as if it was a dinner date so I don’t think it matters if it brunch, lunch or dinner it’s the effort he puts into it.

My ex, who said he loved his bulldog more then anything in the world, would smack her so hard just because he was annoyed about something else but she happened to be there. I realized if we had kids some day then that would be them getting smacked around when he felt like taking out his frustrations.

I always thought that if I couldn’t have kids due to fertility issues then I would just adopt. To me that seemed like a logical and right thing to do. It was just meant to be. And then I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’m 40 and I have 3 weeks until I start chemo and my ability to produce healthy eggs is gone forever. My fiancé and I went through the fertility preservation process and we have 1 good embryo. I have 1 chance of having a healthy baby That 1 little embryo is my child That little …

I just listened to an NPR show on why your comment would be removed (although the banning was excessive) You can’t say “most men are trash” because “men” is a protected class because you are referring to gender. It would be just the same as saying “most women are trash”, “most (color) people are trash” “most LGBTQ are trash” “most (disability) people are trash” etc. You can say “most babies are trash”, “most clowns are trash” “most millennials are trash” because these are not protected classes. …

Sounds like he was in love with the chase and not the person he was chasing. Good for you ending it. You deserve someone who wants you, not the game.

Buy yourself a cake, light candles and sing happy birthday to yourself and when they expect a slice tell them too bad, no more cake/future treats for them.

My ex blamed all of his problems on his mom, we moved in together and then I became the source of all his problems and mommy was a saint 🙄. When I wouldn’t cave to his b.s. I grey rocked him and refused to clean up after him so he moved back in with mommy (at 40years old).

Your “niceness” is not a burden! It’s what makes you special and your strength! Imagine your niceness is your prized antique bone China that you inherited from your grandma..... grandma would be pissed if it gets any kind ding or crack too so you have a huge responsibility to take care of it. Now the person coming over for dinner, do they deserve the fine China or do they get paper plates??? You are still being polite by offering something but do they truly deserve your prize possession? If not …

I had to learn the hard way that my caring and kindness is a privilege to others. They don’t deserve it if it’s not given in return. And that goes for everyone in my life not just who I’m dating...... Even working in customer service! I will still treat people with respect, I wouldn’t lower myself to be like the asshole that I’m dealing with. They look like a spoiled brat and my employees and other customers stare in awe as I politely kick their pathetic ass out the door.

Ex 0/12 current boyfriend 12/12 Now that I’ve seen the real green flags I realized how my ex was manipulative to try to make me think his behavior was a green flag.
