I’ve been seeing a man for about 5 months exclusively; prior to that, we knew each other for a year & a half as friends (I was unavailable romantically). I recently told him that I love him and asked if he is in love with me. He said no, he is not. He cares for me deeply but isn’t in love with me yet, though he is fairly certain he would fall in love with me eventually.

Since we knew each other for 1.5 years prior (the bulk of which he was supposedly pining away for me) I fell in love with him fast and hard. I felt like if he didn’t love me after 2 solid years of knowing each other, talking and seeing each other almost daily, it wasn’t a good sign.

He also seemed to be pulling away and becoming more distant, when he was SUPER into me in the beginning.

I ended our relationship. Did I do the right thing?
