yeah, because it is harder for the women to be accused of being misogynists.

The fact that boys can have their genitals mutilated but not girls, is female privilege.

It's really interesting that nearly all feminist discourse on male circumcision is focused on insisting it isn't as bad as female genital mutilation, rather than condemning male circumcision itself.

The study was about how difficult it was for men to access help after being abused. Just because the resources are there on paper, doesn't mean they will be given. If you scroll down far enough past the introduction/rationale, you'll see the quotes from the participants on what happened when they actually tried to get help. Bottom line is, the lack of men victims seeking help (as you said in your experience) isn't due to the lack of prevalence of abuse against men, but rather the institutional d…

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8336931/ Our review of the literature on men’s help seeking behaviours following PV victimization showed that there are limited services available specifically for male victims and the existing services may often perceive men as the primary aggressors, even when the female partner is the only perpetrator Here's a good source. Keep in mind that this research was done in an academic environment where acknowledging domestic abuse against men could get a rese…

The shelter I volunteer at is not gender specific Do you make it explicitly clear that men are allowed there? When a man calls a center or shelter, there is a decent chance that he is accused of being the abuser, and he has to deal with whatever consequence it may bring.

Men have to be allies to women, but women aren't expected to even care about men's issues? See, that's the issue. Of course men should do the work to fight against the problems men face, but you can't have it both ways.

First of all feminists are the main allies to men who have been sexually assaulted. Stop the cap. The only reason why campus resources help male victims is because of Title IX. Other than that, feminists throughout the world have fought against legal recognition of male rape victims (India is a good example). I think it goes without saying that helping male SA/rape victims does not further feminist goals. So instead go nuclear and become a complete misogynistic Red Pill manosphere bro? That does…

I volunteer at a domestic violence shelter and what we lack is male volunteers Have you actually made an effort to get male volunteers? I don't think a women's shelter would allow male volunteers. The comment about services not being available for men is true. Feminism has an extensive history of denying victimization of men (look up Duluth Model).

Men have been bullied into silence by feminists who insist that any acknowledgment of men’s issues is misogyny. We’re not going to risk our jobs and reputation by stating that men who get sexually assaulted deserve support rather than ridicule. A man in Canada tried starting a men’s shelter after he was denied help as a male domestic abuse victim. Feminists relentlessly harassed him and lobbied the local government to deny him any funding. Men do not have the power you think they have. There are…

So you admit that feminists are not the experts on gender equality?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/26 03:45 AM

The equality wheel doesn't replace the gendered power/control wheel. The Duluth Model only exists because of feminism and has resulted in male victims of domestic violence being locked up. Even the creator of the model acknowledged its shortcomings. Yet the damage is already done. The Duluth Model has been firmly established as the protocol for police officers to respond to domestic violence calls.

/r/PurplePillDebate19/07/26 05:14 PM

Feminists say that's okay because men as a class are oppressors and it's a response to systemic misogyny This is literally feminism 101, you don't need to take a gender studies class to know that. Feminists don't see people as individuals, but rather just representatives of a demographic. It was feminist ideology that produced the Duluth Model of domestic violence that claimed that women could not abuse male partners.

Alternate theory: Gynocentrism - structuring society around the protection and safety of women Pieces of Evidence: * Men showing weakness are mocked for being unable to fulfill their duty to protect their women * Men are sent to war because women must be shielded from violence * Tax dollars going to women's shelters, but not men's, demonstrate a prioritization of women's safety See, I can find tons of points to support this framing. Feminism exists as a movement that advocates for women. Feminism represents women, even if not all women are feminists, and some men identify as feminists. Given this, I think it is reasonable to associate women's actions with feminism.

What feminist theory have you read? Feminist actuality is more important than feminist theory. Some feminist book saying gender roles are bad for both genders doesn't have anything against the real issue of men being denied child custody just because of their gender.

Men still being held to rigid norms while women get to be more-or-less free from theirs. Male victims of sexual assault or domestic violence are still mocked, and resources for them are very hard to come by, even progressives are unsupportive. Men's mental health is still treated as a joke, as men still face significant consequence for expressing themselves. The list goes on, but you get the point.

/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 10:55 PM

And we pay six figures to get degrees from there…
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 10:43 PM

For rape, not much. Falsely accused men get convicted all the time.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 10:41 PM

Seriously, how are all these feminists so unaware of what their own movement is saying?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 10:11 PM

The law states that a person (male or female) who is incapacitated (someone who is passed out, vomiting, unable to walk, or incoherent) by alcohol or drugs cannot legally consent to sex. Equality in law doesn't mean equality in enforcement. Any mental issue can be used as a pretext to charge a man with rape for otherwise consensual sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 10:10 PM

Do you happen to know what the BAC limit is for consensual sex?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 05:35 PM

I think it’s easier for a mentally ill woman to get sex than it is for a mentally ill man. Being socially awkward/inept as a man is basically a death sentence for his social life.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 04:44 PM

I understand consent. The feminists don’t, so they infantilize women
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 04:37 PM

If feminists moved away from that position, they’d say it loud and clear, but they haven’t, and I can’t prove a negative. Where’s your source that feminists have shifted their stance on drunk sex, as you claim?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 04:36 PM

Well, it's not like feminists moved away from it either
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 04:09 PM

I was stating the view as the logical outcome of flawed feminist thinking, I did not express it as something I actually believe. The dialogue on drunk consent, already focused on women, implies that any amount of alcohol can impair a woman's judgement.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 04:08 PM

People who think alcohol makes someone unable to consent day it for both genders. not quite I'm still unsure why you're just talking about women. because that's who the overall dialogue is focused on

/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/26 04:00 PM

A woman who is loyal, and respectful, and enjoys spending time with us. Really simple, actually. None of this costs money
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/26 12:55 PM
2

Men are more-or-less similar in what we want in a relationship, and how we want our partners to be. Our specific preferences in a woman’s appearance and background might be different, but even then, we’re flexible
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/26 12:50 PM
0

Regardless of how the men look, they are all together because the man keeps quiet about his true feelings, and only expresses what his partner approves. If she feels that her man is too emotional, she’ll drop him without hesitation and find another man who can make her feel safe. That’s not “patriarchy”, that’s just female dating standards in action.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/26 12:07 PM
1

The fact that feminists uphold some parts of this “patriarchy”, just shows that even feminists don’t believe what they say about “patriarchy”
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/26 11:59 AM
1

Bruh, why is this even being discussed? The point is that men get raped by women, it may be rarer than women getting raped by men, but it still deserves attention, and the victims deserve support. All this talk about how easy/hard it is, just sounds like your downplaying the whole thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/26 01:37 AM
2

The disagreement is that you think it is fair to blame "patriarchy" for the actions of women, whereas I realize that is silly. Patriarchy refers to male authority, not women who can think for themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/26 02:41 AM
1

Most do
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/26 09:39 PM
2

I’ve literally been saying women reinforce these norms too. I know you were, and I was too! Yet for some reason, you are blaming "patriarchy" for this. Feminists describe themselves as anti-patriarchy, yet they are complicit in enforcing these "patriarchal" ideas.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/26 07:27 PM
1

But now women have the freedom to choose, and they choose traditionally masculine men who don't strongly express sadness or cry
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/26 07:24 PM
2

By putting this on patriarchy, you get to ignore how women contribute to this issue. Because we all know feminists (the anti-patriarchy people) are not going around telling women to stop promoting male gender norms. My point was that women’s reactions are one of the ways those expectations get reinforced. You simply cannot blame patriarchy for something women are doing.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/26 04:19 PM
2

Who is the patriarchy?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/26 03:20 PM

Women's aversion to emotional vulnerability in men is exactly what teaches men to to show emotional vulnerability. Women did this, not patriarchy.

Most women just get to fixing these problems whereas men hope someone else will fix it for them. What a load of BS, women absolutely blame everyone else for their problems, whether it's "patriarchy" or men, etc. And unlike men, women actually get sympathy. Perhaps the best example of this is that "self-help" books for women do not blame the woman for their problems, and emphasize what women deserve, while self-help for men is more about getting men to change and improve themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/26 02:07 PM

The feminists I know and have the pleasure of protesting with are actually fighting for more shelters to be built and more services for men. You've actually raised this issue with them? yeah, sure buddy Also. Who gives a fuck how they would feel about it. It's fucking necessary. Feminists have the institutional power to fight these things. Men's shelters don't get public funding at the same rate women's shelters too. That is the result of feminist activism. Many men don't even know they're being…
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 04:21 PM

It isn't about scoring points against feminists, any more than feminism is about scoring points against patriarchy. What ztfreeman described is a reflection of many men's experiences with campus sexual assault resources, run by ideologically rather than facts.

/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 11:51 AM

Feminism is built on the idea that men are privileged while women are oppressed. How is this attitude conducive to recognizing and sympathizing with male rape victims? It’s great that your feminist group doesn’t completely deny rape against men, but that doesn’t represent feminism. The common response by feminists when a man gets raped is that “it happens to women more”, so yes, feminists are making light of male rape, because they are a bunch of man-hating hypocrites
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 11:44 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 11:32 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:41 AM
0

Also hearing about the topic for the past decade or so, I disagree that feminists talk about it with a lack of clarity as you put it In practice, a woman can say she was assaulted regardless of what really happened, and feminists will believe her without question.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:38 AM
5

I'm upset at the implication that drunk men can still make consent decisions while drunk while women can't. That line of thinking is a huge impediment in the fight for gender equality.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:36 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:35 AM
-3

Feminist theory can be summed up to: men are oppressors, women are victims. The poster reflects that view. Argument defended. QED PS I have seen no feminist criticism of that poster.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:34 AM
1

If you're both drunk this is what we call double jeopardy That's not what double jeopardy means. It means someone cannot be tried twice for the same crime (unless once was state/local and once was federal) if the defendant was found not guilty. If only one party has been drinking, the one that did not drink is taking advantage and/or a rapist (obviously depending on prior relationship and conversation). This is regardless of gender. Theoretical vs reality
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:32 AM
16

Are they assaulted more often, or is it just reported more often?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:29 AM
4

It is, though. Scenario: A man, while he was blackout drunk, was forced into a sexual encounter with a woman. He feels violated, and reports it to campus authorities. Does he get taken seriously than he would if the genders were reversed? He tells a female friend, who happens to identify as a feminist. Does she take him seriously? Does she identify it as rape? No. No, and Hell no.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:29 AM
-1

That ad faced massive backlash and criticism for exactly the double standard you’re pointing out. That's irrelevant. The fact is that the poster came from a feminist perspective on an major feminist issue. The university is not feminism Universities are run by feminists. That's where feminism is strongest. You can’t just point to something you dislike and declare it feminist. You can't just point to something you dislike and declare it not feminist.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:26 AM
-4

But that is how it is applied in practice. The consequences for the average man to be accused of sexual assault are real and significant. So what happens is that men need to be very cautious, and lack of clarity that feminists provides necessitates that men assume any amount of alcohol is too much for a woman to still be capable of giving consent.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:21 AM
2

In the instances where a drunk man is taken advantage of, and he either speaks of it or word gets out, the general consensus amongst feminist is “he was too drunk to consent”, and you actually saw this happen?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:18 AM
30

Yeah, but why is it only focused on drunk women?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:16 AM
2

It’s far easier to get penetrated during sex while drunk compared to penetrate someone while drunk. This is where the difference in experience stand out to me personally. This view of sex is patriarchal, as it views sex as something that men "do to" women. Women can still ride passed out men, and an erection is involuntary.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:16 AM
3

Example Besides that, the discourse is focused entirely on women being drunk and raped.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:13 AM

I don't drink alcohol. Alcohol is the root of so many problems in society; alcohol is a major factor in sexual assault, drunk driving fatalities, domestic abuse. Yet people who don't drink it are mocked and ridiculed, as I have been.

4

So are you going to answer the question?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/26 07:41 PM

So what are women doing to earn that trust and make men feel safe opening up?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/26 12:23 PM
1

patriarchy is just another word out of many that feminists have overused to the point it has no meaning left
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/26 12:21 PM
45

Feminists don’t actually want men to open up. Because then feminists will complain about having to do “emotional labor”. What they really want is for a man to express the woman’s emotions, while supressing his own. Ironic, but according to feminist ideology, women cannot enforce patriarchal norms, and feminists are incapable of introspection
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/26 12:19 PM
8

A woman should earn the trust of the man before he can open up to her.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/26 12:16 PM
1

None of that discourse is genuine. It’s all performative. They call out “toxic masculinity” yet remain attracted to men who exhibit those traits. They mock men who don’t express their emotions, but then complain about having to do emotional labor when a man opens up.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/26 12:02 PM
5

I’d say that the idea a man has to sleep with lots of women to be a man is toxic masculinity, even though it could even benefit himself. Yes, I agree. I’d say that’s toxic masculinity imposed by the partner/traditional gender roles. This is what feminists miss. They assume it's only men who push these ideals, so they don't have to do any introspection on how they are part of the problem. But as I said earlier, the intent is to mock men.

No one knows what toxic masculinity is anymore. It’s supposed to be about male gender roles regarding strength and dominance causing harm to men. But it’s just a buzzword that is used to mock men, while still upholding the ideas that led to it. Men not expressing their feelings can be toxic masculinity only if he truly believes it is wrong for a man to express his feelings; not if he knows he will lose the respect of his partner.

The seminars are “how to not be sexist” aren’t there to teach boys how to not be sexist, but to discourage boys from questioning feminist dogma that led boys to people like Tate. Where are the seminars about teaching boys it’s ok to express one’s emotions, or reach out when something bad happens to them? “Toxic masculinity” gets thrown around when a man does something that is not directly in service of women, not when a man actually does something harmful. Nope, MRAs are upset because the freedom for women to break out of their traditional gender role did not result in men being able to do the same. While this is technically correct, the pressing issues we face are far more damaging and insidious than just "gender norms". That's another thing: when men face an issue, it's expected that they solve it themselves. When women face an issue, it's society's fault and men need to fix it. And no, it's not "patriarchy", it's societal norms that BOTH men and women impose on others.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/26 03:28 PM
7

The point is, men can't just "fix" their mental health by talking about it like women can. Male mental health will improve when society values men for more than what they provide to women and more powerful men. This requires society to understand that men don't have all the privileges, and that men too face cultural biases that harm them. I highly doubt OP, or many other women/girls are sympathetic.

Is this an issue where feminists should be divided on? Gendered rape laws were created under the assumption that men and women occupied different roles during sex, specifically the idea that sex is something men initiate and drive while women are the recipients. It’s a “patriarchal” view of sex. If feminists want to be taken seriously as those who oppose patriarchy, the need to get their damn house in order.

/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/25 08:29 PM

I am. Women have no problem with other women opening up to them. But when men do it, it's a major ick to them. They call it "toxic masculinity" when men remain closed off, but it's women's reactions that are the main driver of that. What are these women doing to create an environment where men can open up safely without having their masculinity questioned?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/25 08:28 PM

So, how is it that women have shown a capability of holding a woman accountable without saying “but the man did this and that” Women in general do not hold other women accountable. They are far worse at it than men.

Depends on the context. typical non-answer. The term "emotional labor" has been so over-used that it lost its meaning

Regarding female loneliness, female loneliness is a choice made by the woman. Women are constantly on the receiving end of men’s advances from men, and women make the choice to turn them down.

So there are small groups of feminists who want men to take a more active role in domestic tasks/housework. But they don't frame it as breaking down gender roles, they only care about reducing the load off women. So, right opinion, wrong reason, I suppose that's better than nothing.

It's been around since forever, and getting worse each generation. Masculinity has always been defined as the capability and willingness toward physical aggression, in war, at home, or at work. As society advances toward non-violence and less manual labor, there is less of a need for such aggression, so men have fewer avenues to demonstrate their masculinity, which has given modern men a sense of lost purpose. Fundamentally, they are stuck in a situation where traditional male expectations have …
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/25 02:56 PM

More specifically, it's that feminism has largely liberated women from their traditional gender roles, while men are still bound to traditional masculine expectations that are much harder to meet.

NOW has recognised that women often face bias in family courts. So it's bias against women that they get primary custody only 80% of the time? So while their legislative record is mixed, feminists have long been fighting against gendered bias in custody decisions proof? It sounds like you're not denying my claims of NOW opposing joint custody efforts.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/25 09:57 PM

Because assholes only bring it up to belittle women for discussing rape When men say "men get raped too", it is not meant to divert discussion on rape, it is meant to add on to it, if anything, and to oppose the notion that rape is just a women's issue. Because not recognizing the true nature of rape prevents any meaningful action on it.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/25 09:14 PM

A guy moving on from this sexual trauma has no effect on whether a new female partner will accept him for it
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/25 09:08 PM

I read that. It's false narrative that feminists love to perpetuate despite the reality of men's lived experiences. There are just as many feminists as right-wingers policing men's behaviors and criticizing them for not "following the script". Feminists may not be calling men "lucky" for being raped, but they see discussions of male SA as "derailment" of discussions of female SA.

Feminist organizations have pushed for laws and reforms that remove automatic assumptions about mothers being primary caregivers, advocating for shared custody or joint parenting where appropriate. I never said there was one. I said that feminism downplays domestic violence against men, as evidenced by the Duluth Model, and orgs like WomensAid that frame domestic violence against men as nonserious.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/11/25 11:15 PM

It doesn't look like feminism has moved on from that. Governments of developed nations still treat sexual assault and domestic violence as exclusively women's issues, with feminists in full approval
/r/PurplePillDebate05/11/25 10:26 PM

And I refuse to call myself a feminist because feminism isn't just a dictionary definition, it is a movement that believes a significant number of absurdities that I reject and that many otherwise good feminists have been cancelled for not accepting. But I do think that you are neglecting to consider some important context about Koss's work. First of all, she has faced criticism for that definition and her work has been revised several times. Again, I see feminists advocating for men and women Where? How exactly are feminists advocating for men? All I see is feminists calling men privileged just for being men and dismissing the very real issues they face. You get to escape your gender roles, now how about you show support for the men who also reject traditional gender roles?

Misandrist is calling men beta simp cucks, which feminists do not do. Feminists aren't against it either. Misandry also includes telling male rape victims that they don't as much as support as female rape victims. Misandry is denying the reality of domestic violence against men. Feminists proudly do both these things

Misogyny is bad, and so is misandry. Instead of vilifying people over minor differences in beliefs, try to be a bit more understanding.

Now show me the condolences and criticisms of the government from women that you claim to exist. Mens shed is a massive organisation, and that is one singular instance of women being admitted in one singular location Give them an inch, they'll take a mile or two

/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/25 01:33 PM

So it's a coincidence that your preference is also patriarchy's preference?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/25 01:30 PM

If that is your preference, then you have no right to complain about other men being insecure about their height, and you cannot blame "patriarchy" for it.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/25 12:45 PM

If a woman wants her man to pay for everything, she must accept that he is the one in control. His role in the relationship has been established, and now she must accept a role too, otherwise leave the relationship.

If we weren't allowed to have male-specific spaces becasue of gynocentrism, then there wouldn't be red pill. Heck, there wouldn't be a Republican Party. Unless by "non-feminist" you mean anti-feminist spaces that do nothing about actual men's issues, but instead focus on opposing feminism and doubling down on the rigid gender norms that created men's issues. Fraternities and men's sports leagues are examples of "non-feminist" men's spaces, and their existance is not under attack

The problem with modern women all comes down to thinking they aren't like the men they complain about, when in fact, they are much more similar to the men their age than previous generations of women were to their own generation of men. They complain about men being self-centered, abusive, emotionally undeveloped, when women are the same way.

Good point. Feminists always say rape is underreported, but when it comes to rape against men, they don’t even consider that a factor and just roll with the popular narrative of rape being a women’s issue only.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 03:34 PM

You know what I meant. Rape is almost always defined as penetration, not including being made to penetrate. Ironically, a lot of feminists uphold this definition when it is based off a patriarchal view of sex as something done by men to women.

Why don't men care about men's issues either though? We do, we can't do much because anything we do would draw the ire of both radical feminists and sometimes far-right conservatives. That means only the jerks end up speaking about the issues. When men talk about sexual assault or domestic violence against men, feminists call it "derailing" and accuse the men of being misogynists. Any woman involved is labelled a "pick-me".
/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/25 01:37 PM

My guy, you literally said that feminism isn't just about women. Now you are agreeing that feminists don't have an obligation to think about men's issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/25 01:29 PM
8

How many times have feminists said that (insert men’s issue) is not their problem to solve?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/25 12:32 PM

Men have tried, and faced great resistance from feminists (Earl Silverman is one example, something similar happened in Italy last year). That's not the best excuse, but it's wrong for feminists to say that men should organize for themselves and then fight back against them. Also, government gives a lot of tax dollars women's shelters, but nothing for men facing domestic violence.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 08:03 PM

And? Masculinists are always complaining about not having that and feminists are fighting for it. Shouldn't they be happy? Reasons do matter, sometimes. The feminist rationale for parental leave for men does nothing to break the stigma of men spending a lot of time with their children. Ultimately, men aren't going to take the leave if they're still considered secondary parents. Women's rights help men's rights just like you can see here More rights for women doesn't mean more rights for men. Let…

If not a feminist, at least be someone who understands the extent that a person's gender shapes their lives, and what kinds of sexism exist.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/25 04:29 PM

Feminism's main goal was advocacy for women regardless of their relative position to men, not equality. You don't see feminists, or even feminist men, challenging negative gender norms for men. It is a movement built on a false narrative that men live privileged lives by virtue of their gender, while women are oppressed by the men. Read Bell Hooks' The Will to Change and look at the crap that boys and men have to deal with, and feminism denies it.

/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/25 11:25 AM

You feminists constantly bring up stuff that happened in the distant past, like women not being able to have bank accounts. Well, this is more recent. Also, look up. Earl Silverman, he started a men’s shelter out of his home and helped a good number of men. But the feminist-led government refused to give him a single dollar, whereas the women’s shelters receive tons of money to separate battered women from their battered teenage sons.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/25 11:24 AM

“Women looking for men” = Women existing in public and hoping the next guy who approaches her isn’t ugly or neurodivergent.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/25 03:36 AM

Many feminists are under the zero-sum perception that any acknowledgement of domestic violence against men is a diversion from discussions of domestic violence against women. That's whey they think it's derailing or "minimizing domestic violence against women"
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/25 02:47 AM

No one wants to be seen as weak
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/25 02:44 AM

“men can be victims of domestic violence” this phrase is considered "derailing" by feminists Regarding the second point, you may say it's hateful, but it's true. How many of your friends' relationships were initiated by the woman?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/25 02:43 AM

Men who accept "protection" are seen as weak, and a perception of a man as weak will completely negatively affect his romantic and sociallife.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 11:15 PM

Where? All I see is women telling men to be "allies" to women, nothing about men being allies to each other.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 11:12 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 10:35 PM

Again, why does it matter that OP presented multiple problems of different severities? It's just an excuse to ignore reality and live in the comfort of feminist falsehoods.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 10:02 PM

Women don't actively seek out men. Men come to them.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 10:00 PM

A rational person wouldn't see it as misogynist, but we don't live in rational times.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 09:59 PM

An example: Saying that men can be victims of domestic violence and deserve help isn't misogynistic (in my opinion). However that doesn't stop folks like Murray Strauss and Erin Pizzey from being vilified by feminists. Everyone's got an opinion on what is and isn't misogynist, and good men are afraid of upsetting the wrong people.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 09:57 PM

We don't want to get cancelled. We want to help, but we can't if it means risking our reputation and our careers.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 09:55 PM

That's not the reason why, and you know it.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 09:52 PM

Men supporting each other is considered misogynist, which stops good men from doing it.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/03/25 09:48 PM

Women benefit from the Women are Wonderful Effect This is an understatement. This is literraly the foundation of the privileges that women have in society. The false feminist narrative that men are the privileged oppressors who face no hardship because of their gender is a total lie that has done so much damage to gender relations and men's mental health.

women who exhibit toxic behavior and attitudes with the belief that such behavior is feminine.

My argument is that society's idea of toxic masculinity, is just toxic behavior. Not just toxic behavior, but toxic behavior that is considered as "masculine" by those who exhibit or promote it.

This is just a No True Scotsman fallacy, as many other commenters pointed out. Regardless of what you think masculinity is, there are plenty of men who exhibit that toxic behavior with the belief that such behavior is masculine.

The consent apps are bullshit. If someone can be coerced into sex, they can be coerced into marking themselves as "consenting" on the app. And how does the app handle withdrawal of consent during the act? Are you supposed to have the phone in your hands at all times while doing it?

Your criticisms of the feminist view of privilege shows how obsessed feminists are with pushing a narrative that men are the privileged oppressors while women are the helpless victims. Framing female privilege as "benevolent sexism" is perhaps the perfect example of that. Rather than using power as a paradigm or a lens to look at patriarchy, I think patriarchy is best understood as a sort of mental virus that infects and hurts all of us. I would be understanding of this view, but is this a commo…

I've read Bell Hooks Will to Change, where she acknowledges the pressures that boys and men have to be "dominant", and that the problem is partially driven by women as well as men. Perhaps it shouldn't count because she makes it clear in the book that her views do not represent feminism as a whole. So tell me, what feminist acknowledges female privilege? Is she well-known within the community? Does she have a high ranking government position where she has influence over public policy?

A classic example of toxic masculinity is a guy with an injury who won't go to the doctor because he thinks that would make him a pussy or less manly. No, that's not toxic masculinity. That's him having insecurities that emerged as a result of being bullied as a boy for the slightest deviations from masculine norms. The bullying he faced was the toxic masculinity, not his later refusal of medical care. You know, this is a great opportunity for men and feminists to collab and teach young boys tha…

So when will feminists that women, like men, have certain privileges based on their gender? Things like: not being seen as a threat around children, more scholarship opportunities, having resources if you're a victim of domestic abuse, etc. I've never heard a feminist specifically acknowledging any of these things as privileges, rather than dismissing them as "benevolent sexism", or saying it's men's fault.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 08:09 PM
5

If it's because of men being seen as just tools for women/other men, then yes, you are correct. If it's men telling other men that they need to constantly prove themselves "masculine" because anything not-masculine is "weak", then it would be toxic masculinity.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 06:32 PM
2

The thing is, "toxic masculinity", when defined correctly as "manifestations of extreme mascunlity that result in unnecessary violence or anti-social behevaiors in men", does exist and is a serious issue that needs discussion. But feminists just use it as a buzzword to mock men who don't put women on pedestals.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 05:25 PM
7

You are exactly correct, but feminists are too woke to understand that.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 05:23 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 04:41 PM

An actual study on purplepilldebate? Heresy! /s But in all seriousness, in the real world, women aren't lining up to date effeminate or nerdy men.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 09:19 PM

Because so many men WANT to be providers. They also want to be appreciated for providing, which is happening less nowadays.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 06:04 PM

I have no reason to believe otherwise
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 04:15 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/25 01:20 PM

Feminism’s primary goal is the advancement of women, regardless of the current position of men. If it was really about equality, they’d be calling for women to register with selective services (or trying to abolish it), they’d also be calling for equality in area where men are disadvantaged or underrepresented such as mental health resources, representation in teaching and nursing. But they aren’t, instead they attack those men who try to handle those issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/25 01:15 PM

Men who discuss men’s issues are labeled misogynists, Lilith. Feminists even call it “derailing” when a man talks about something like male sexual abuse victims.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/25 07:19 PM

If men want to form a group to discuss how women are the reason/to blame for all of mens problems, and if women just changed men wouldn’t have any problems, Hey buddy, this is literally how feminist groups talk about men. Stop whining just because the genders are reversed. Let us have our own spaces, and we won't have to invade your spaces just to get some attention paid to our issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 02:45 AM

If it's not women's or feminism's job to fix men and men's issues (I actually agree with this part), then don't be surprised when men start looking for solutions outside of feminist theory.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 10:18 PM

Well, are half of all victims men or no? Debatable, in terms of occurrences, yes, severity is where things might be different. Still not a reason to dismiss domestic abuse against men. Sounds to me like you're just looking for an excuse to downplay domestic abuse against men. Nice talking to you.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 07:12 PM

But yes, thanks for sharing. I think some of your examples align with what I had assumed. I think you have one or two in that first list that are valid imo. Theory vs practice. I fully support the idea that men and women should have the same opportunities in life and that gender roles are too restrictive and only exist for the benefit of authority figures. However, this isn't how the modern feminist movement operates. Feminism views equality as more of a power struggle between men and women and is more interested in pushing a narrative of male oppression over women, than actually understanding how gender norms shape our way of thinking.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/25 04:42 PM

I was referring to how the term "toxic masculinity" is actually used. The term is just thrown around, to the point where it's meaning is lost. If women don't date femboys, then a femboy is forced to change himself if he wants to be married. Where is he going to find a woman who is into femboys? Clearly feminism sees some men as "dominant" and some as weaker, even if they aren't upfront about it. This is a societal phenomenon, not a "male" phenomenon.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/24 02:23 PM
2

The only meaning those terms ever had was whatever the people in power decided they should mean. Honestly, those terms caused too much trouble.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/24 12:33 PM
16

To answer your gish gallop: Feminist women constantly complain about “toxic masculinity” whenever a man does something for his own benefit. Most heterosexual men want to be married some day, so they need to be the kind of man that women want, and women clearly are not lining up to date femboys. Last question: Because society is too quick to categorize men, and feminism is complicit in this.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/24 12:27 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/24 09:17 PM

It's the understanding that the stereotypical traditional woman's life is very easy to attain and live, compared to the typical man's life. Women aren't expected to work 40 hours a week to provide for the family. Women aren't expected to make the first move or plan things in a relationship. Women are protected in ways men aren't. there's more I might add later. It's the reality that the average working class woman's life consists of fewer responsibilities and obligations than the average working…

When you try to mention something that hurts men, like not being able to talk about feelings too deeply, you get dismissive responses like "men set it up that way" or "it's men's fault". So yes, feminists are blaming "men" specifically when talking about patriarchy.

The Left hates men. They need to promote the narrative that women are oppressed and men are privileged. So acknowledging men’s issues goes against that narrative. So the Left ignores men’s issues. Then a bunch of internet personalities like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate come along and say the things that young men want to hear, whether they’re serious about it or not. You'll never see a feminist raise awareness of sexual harassment against men in the workplace.

Ok, are any of those commenters using the issue of sexual harassment by men to “take away” anything from men? Women who complain about sexual harassment from men, are almost always women who’ve experienced it, and just want it to stop. Then male privilege must exist alongside female privilege, since women also have opportunities that men do not. So why do feminists refuse to acknowledge that? Only reason I could think of that feminists themselves think men have easier lives. What I said disproves the narrative that men don’t need their own movement to address the ways that societal gender norms affect men.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/11/23 02:59 AM

Men don’t usually fight for custody because they know they are going to lose and waste thousands of dollars that would have been spent on child support anyway. The men who do fight it only do so if they know for sure they’ll win e.g. if mom’s a drug addict, and even that might not work. Basically men have to fight for custody, while women do not. Men pay alimony because women don’t marry men who make less.

If male gender roles are defined on the idea that men must be different from women, because women are perceived as “weak” or “lesser than”, then that’s misogyny. When men are punished for violating those gender roles, that’s misandry. I’m not going to defend feminist’s refusal to use the term “misandry”, because I think misandry is real. But claiming that misandry cannot be tied to misogyny or vice-versa, is also flawed.
