"Now Howard has abandoned his mission, partly because someone punched him in the head early on Monday morning. “Yesterday, at around 4am, as I sat in the centre of Bristol playing the piano, I was punched in the head while, as it would now appear, turning myself into the largest fool in the West Country,”

What did I just read? I hope she decides to divorce him cause she was waiting til their youngest goes to college, takes 50% of everything and can live her happy active life without this pathetic, energy-sucking, disrespectful disabled man who literally adds zero value to her life (other than finances).

All good signs from this guy. Definitely continue to protect yourself financially esp through the great blissful relationship times where you may be tempted to fold even just a little. Sounds like a decent guy you have there!

I came here to say this. Driving and speeding while super intoxicated? Both of them need some leveling up. Both in the wrong here.

HVM after 7months? Making that assessment takes longer than that. But tbh I would tell him what you want (18months) then keep your options open, date others and don't live with him. He's fine to do what he wants in his timeline but so are you. Don't tie yourself down out of fear for being the single unmarried one in your friend group.

I just did this earlier today. I wasn't feeling it on my way there but I still turned up as we had arranged. Nice guy but I had zero attraction. We were talking for 30mins and mainly about himself (I was that checked out). When he had finished his next story and there was a pause I said "So I think I'm going to head home, I'm really tired and need to get some rest before a long day tomorrow". He looked surprised but I started putting my coat on from the back of my chair and said bye, turned and …

Are you me? All the Scorpios I've dated start off passionate and fun but any time I said "no" or when we broke up they stalked me. Like ALL of them (3). Enough for me to never want to date another tbh.

The biggest issue here is his reaction and behaviour (passive aggressive, stonewalling, bringing a partner down with other external parties, leaving to stay at his mom's, ruining a holiday) ALL because he made a very very stupid immature and uneducated assumption that could have been resolved by him asking what a tampon is. His behaviour is why I would be seeking an immediate divorce. What next?!

Reminds me of my ex. Anytime he did something wrong and I expressed it/called him out it would be: "I didn't say that" then when I present proof or word for word quote: "You're exaggerating, you always exaggerate" then when I don't fold and stand firm: "You're making a mountain out of a molehill, it's such a petty thing to be upset about!" then when I agree and say his behaviour about something petty is ridiculous "If you weren't so short and snappy then I wouldn't get upset!" Then when I clearl…

This is exactly what I'm thinking...surely he should have just asked what she uses, gone out himself to buy it then washed his clothes to test it out. Did saving £7 or so on detergent for testing mean she had to wash his clothes. Even if he didn't want to spend the money, he could have just asked her for a tablet or two to test it out himself. Sounds to me like he just wanted to test HER and see if she was vulnerable to being manipulated and also had the ability to be his new bangmaid. It's call…

Oh yeah this was years ago and I'm finally free from him. Restraining order given indefinitely! It's just a thing I tell all women now to be wary of. Breakups make controlling men turn insane.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/05/20 06:25 PM
13

Yeah well one of my ex's was married and I broke up because I found out. He still stalked and harassed me, then when I got a restraining order kept applying to court to have it removed because "I was destroying his relationship with his wife". You should have seen the look on the judges face esp given all the evidence I had and police reports of when he would turn up at home/work and threaten me.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/05/20 06:21 PM
72

Last three ex's I've broken up with and they have either stalked or harassed me until I got restraining orders or threatened legal action. Men step over boundaries all the time. They feel entitled to own us and when we say no then it causes them to go bonkers. "Their toy won't behave". It now scares me to get involved with men, even those I date who seem high value during the relationship turn awful after a breakup.

Are you narrating verbatim from my ex's mind? So strange 😂
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy30/05/20 06:27 PM
26

I would be concerned. The last two men I dated who said this turned out to have very subtle and passive control issues. They were also very insecure and not on my "level" so the one of the ways of bridging that gap was to get me to stop looking after myself and doing things that enhanced my beauty. This meant other men would find me less desirable and they felt safer in the relationship. Even though they didn't voice this directly and they were sweet, gentle and loving outwardly, it became clear…

This is very sweet but still save money separately. I've been through two relationships with wonderful men who said they would be there after the breakup and support the process but people react badly during the end of relationships. I now believe you really don't know someone until a major conflict or stressful period like a breakup when you don't want them anymore and they don't feel they owe you anything. Just be careful is all I am saying, not to put a dampener on a lovely comment!

Oh I feel so bad for her but look, if you don't have a thick skin, dating isn't for you. Yes people should behave better and come correct but MOST DONT. So you get used to having to date and cut them off if they show who they are. Keep standards high, dust yourself off and get out there again.

These rings are sold to be replacement rings so you don't have to wear your REAL and EXPENSIVE engagement ring everyday to work, gym etc and risk it being lost. So you buy a cheaper resembling ring to wear instead. These weren't made to be your MAIN engagement ring. And at $60! Men pay more during a first date with me. The shame!

Or some men will use condoms but complain throughout the whole process. Putting it on is a complaint, with lots of huffing and grunting about it being weird. Gradually wearing you down each time you have sex until you either don't even want to have sex or give in to him. Or they purposefully break the condom during sex then you have to go through the stress of getting the morning after pill and deal with all the effects it has on your body. This happened to me twice. Happened to me last week. Had a long and serious conversation where I raised several areas we were incompatible. I genuinely expected a discussion and to understand (before ending things) if I had assessed it correctly. He jumped the gun and said "well seems a lot to overcome, I won't be happy with you anyway long term!" and ended the relationship. My response was just "Ok, all the best". Not sure what he expected, an argument, for me to beg? The time for pickmeshia behaviour is long gone.

Not just that but men LIE. They lie about about their values and their character traits. Men go into relationships wanting to impress to get what they want. When a woman is ambitious, they immediately say they are ambitious too and are working on X Y Z. Only later in the relationship a woman realises after seeing repeated inaction from the man (ignoring his words) that she sees he actually has no ambition and blows hot air. For some women seeing this can take years! That's why it's important to …

Funny you mention the egg thing. I'll top you; my ex couldn't even boil an egg. I taught him how to boil one then one day he boils two eggs, then comes to me in another room with them in a bowl so I can peel them. His excuse? I don't know how to do it and I might mess it up. Edit: And when I broke up with him he had the audacity to say "he wouldn't be happy with ME long term and he would rather learn things in his own schedule anyway". Scrote.

Case of the ex. He was super happy and satisfied in our relationship while I always wondered why I wasn't and why I kept having to speak to him about basic things. Started with domestic chores and him doing his share, teaching him how to cook (he couldn't even boil an egg), didn't have a house, a career (had a basic job in a store while I have two degrees and a business), no driver's licence, didn't eat veg/fruit and smoked...the list goes on. Gosh one of my friends is now engaged to a man who was intentional from the start. He proposed with a custom made ring with three jewels depicting his interests, her interests and what he hoped their union would be (the diamond in the middle). HVM will make so much effort. Don't settle.

Oh I've loved having my space again. Get back? No, I have decided he's not coming here again, my home is my place of peace and nothing bugs me more than passive aggressive behaviour (of which he does frequently during arguments and is ALWAYS right). There's a reason FDS says don't live with a man, it's exhausting and he was only here for a few weeks. You're right though, it is a privilege to be in my space and environment, he has clearly become complacent. It'll take A LOT for him to undo that d…

Happened a few days ago. Boyfriend being passive aggressive in my house because I said ONE curt comment that "I didn't want to repeat myself" about something I had said to him three times in the space of 5mins. Asked him to quit stomping around my flat and to please spend the night at his as I didn't want his attitude bringing me down. All said very politely and calmly. Yes and for more info anyone can ask the police for info. "Clare's Law gives any member of the public the right to ask the police if their partner may pose a risk to them. Under Clare's Law, a member of the public can also make enquiries into the partner of a close friend or family member."

Terrible story. Ladies if any of you are in the UK please learn about Clare's Law. It now allows new partners to go to police for disclosure about any man's previous record including harassing and stalking other women. It could literally save your life. RIP to this lady.

My vagina dried up just reading your first paragraph. It's so off-putting to have a man who acts helpless like a child. One guy I was seeing would always use the excuse that "I do things better" be it cooking, cleaning, remembering grocery lists etc. I remember telling him that I don't do it better, he is just lazy and doesn't want to do it. I believe in asking directly "what are you looking for...or what do you want, friendship or more?" Better ask than continuing to invest and waste your time if you want a relationship and they think you're hanging as friends. Trying to read signs and things can lead to confusion. Just ask. But be prepared to politely walk away if their answer isn't the same as yours and you want diff things.

I feel the same pressure when people give the whole ?!?!?. I find it unecessary. The point here is you did what was right FOR YOU. If you're uncomfortable you have every right to unmatch and move on. This means you're "naive" and they like it because that means they can get away with a lot. It is negging also as it subconsciously may make you want to prove you aren't "innocent" by being more flirty, appealing to them sexually etc. Don't tolerate it whatever the case.

I think you'll see he brought this up first so not sure what your comment meant. I did ask him to elaborate more out of shock and sheer curiousity to the extent of his audacity and blocked right after. I don't think any FDSers are bringing up sex in introductory messaging.

Spot on. Considering his suggestion for our date was "coffee or a drink", I said I don't do coffee dates, I don't drink alcohol or make effort getting dolled up for a quick drink...then he ignores my needs and suggests we get soft drinks instead right before this excerpt you read in my post. I didn't even have the energy to respond. Unmatch button hit quick!! Edit: He wanted a cheap drink date followed by spanking and choking me for his sexual pleasure (I assume). What a catch. I'm swooning.

For a lot of men bond = ownership. This is why you hear of men who start out wanting FWB but will get possessive and angry if the girl says she is dating/sleeping with others...meanwhile he can do the same but won't commit to the girl he wants to possess. Men play a possession game. The more women they possess the larger their ego grows and feelings of self-worth and identity are solidified. This is why it's important to ensure commitment and a shared life before sex. Why trap yourself by being …

One guy always wanted to hang out and when I said I'd love us to be friends (we actually had great convos and jokes) he ADAMANTLY REFUSED to be my friend. He said he "has enough friends" and "if we weren't going to have sex then why hang out". I felt shit back then (I was young) but stopped speaking to him and respected his choice. It's only now I realise how fucked up he was and how men are in general. No value for a person or enjoying their companionship without seeing them as an object for se…

Firstly an acceptance of what happened to you and that you are not defected or abnormal. Your behaviour now is a coping mechanism that once worked to keep you safe emotionally but now no longer works. Second after being so self-aware and accepting where you are is seeking help and guidance. That can be through active therapy, engaging with online forums with similar people or reading a lot on how to heal from neglect and start to open up to emotional connection again. I was severely abused and n…

When a man says am I free on X day for a date, I don't text him at all the day of the date to confirm. I wait for HIM to show his interest and enthusiasm by texting ME to confirm if I can make it. If he doesn't text, I assume the date isn't on and I keep it moving, make different plans etc. He is clearly not interested if he doesn't text to confirm the time and venue or make reservations somewhere. Men will chase if they want to see you and nothing will get in their way.

No no no. Cut it waaaay down. Don't be a sitting duck for predators. It's like telling them "in order to get in my pants bring me dark chocolate covered strawberries". Easy for anyone to do right? Don't give them the keys to the castle THAT easy. Simple few lines on your interests is enough. I never mention what I am looking for. I will let them show me who they are without fear and I can vet accordingly.

It's a selfish mentality. My one male friend has two daughters he has 50/50 of the time. I went to his house a year after he moved in and he just had a two seater sofa in the living room. I asked him if his girls came round and he said yeah. Well, what do they do, how do they entertain themselves? He didn't have an answer except they go out to see people all the time when he has them. I'm confused. So when they have sex he cums but she ends up rubbing one out by herself. What's the benefit she is getting from sex with him then? I'd stop having sex with him as I can please myself better than he can. Totally insane she is over discussing this with him and now will go away to read a book about it. It's a simple problem!!! Stop having sex with him and reconsider this marriage if he is so selfish.

This. I think part of being a HVW is doing what YOU want and not being pressured or controlled into others views or pleasing a man above yourself. Whatever form that takes for YOU. If a woman in here wants to have casual sex then she can do so..it doesn't make her any less than a woman who chooses her vibrator over casual sex. Let's respect one another in FDS and respect each other's choices especially when they are not damaging that individual. P.s. I'm not into casual sex at all. I can't separ…

Sounds like the biggest issue is his family not treating you the way you deserve...and him not doing anything about it. He should be sticking up for you and talking to his family to be more welcoming because he values you. On the splitting 50/50 because you are hoping he will propose and no ring has materialised. He knows you want this. It's what you discussed. I'd suggest you don't bring it up with him (no pickmeshia behaviour!) But if he hasn't proposed by the time he relocates then don't move…

This. Started speaking to my ex again 3 weeks after our breakup. Turns out he was already on Tinder and in that 3 week period had been on 3 dates with a girl who looks exactly like me and had kissed her. Made me feel so sorry for the girl, especially as he was begging for me back and said he would ghost her from that day onwards to show he was serious about getting back with me. ALWAYS ask about their ex and if it's been less than 6 months since they broke up...tread carefully.

He expected to get laid after the 3rd date and when he didn't as a LVM would do, he showed his true colours. LVM don't have the energy to keep up the act for long.

NEVER EVER pressure a man to do ANYTHING. Whether it's as simple as meeting up for a date/drink or moving in or marriage or kids. If it doesn't come from him willingly its not what he wants and you WILL regret it. I've been on the wrong side of this before and almost lost my dignity.

I finally ended things, he wanted to try make it work and I told him I had started seeing someone who was amazing and I wanted to be with. From reading her articles, she is only 26 and they have been together since she was 19. I've met one but he turned out to cheat on me...then get upset/shocked that I was angry for months after...asked me to "get help for my anger" and "learn to be more gentle with him" when discussing his infidelity. Some men who seem emotionally mature are actually "water torturers". They secretly enjoy doing things to invoke anger and emotion in you then sit back and act like the mature adult because they are not responding to what they have triggered. Mind f*ckery.
