The short answer is that I do think a lot of it is porn. As other commenters have pointed out, female degradation has sadly existed since the dawn of time, but porn isn't helping. And neither is libfems praising "dad-bods", making it harder for the rest of us to assert that we do, in fact, have standards.

One of my friend's go-to sayings whenever I call bs on whatever rando LVM has done her dirty this week: "Oh, I'm just seeing where it goes". "I just want to see what happens." "I don't even care lol, it's just funny at this point..." That one always gets me. If you truly "did not care", you wouldn't be running to me to bend my virtual ear for every minutiae-filled update on these LVMs. If you truly didn't care, you'd ignore it and move on. It's not "funny" to me; you're disguising your hurt tryi…

Exactly!! Their rhetoric ALWAYS changes to suit them, and to shift the blame onto you (rather than ever addressing toxic masculinity, the increasing load women are expected to bear, and the rampant pornsickness that has ruined an entire generation). I've been told "you just need to stop looking! See, when you stop, that's when it happens" but I've also been told, "YOU need to put yourself out there more!" So which is it??

Just so we're clear, let me get this straight. In 2021, we're supposed to: ---Have the world's fattest ass (tattoos optional), while also maintaining an itty-bitty waist ---Be racially ambiguous ---Have a full-time job earning six figures ---Have a "fun" and "cool" side-hustle for Instagram points where we post things like, "Rise & grind!" 😎 ---Cream ourselves at the thought or even mention of being choked, hit, suffocated, and rear-ended ---Do all the work on top. And now, we're also required t…

What does that emoji even mean? One of my mortal enemies used it in almost every staged Instagram post, so I hate it already lol but I've never known the official meaning. It looks like the symbol that would come up on my old Pantech phone that couldn't send or process emojis when someone would send me one.

This is absolutely true. I have a thing for musicians (they have day jobs; I'm not talking about guys who busk on the streets for a living) and every PickMe and other woman who's been married for years loves to tell me, "You just need to stop dating musicians!" And then act so smug about it, like they've found the perfect solution and I'm just chasing after the wrong guys and need to grow up. What's funny is, every SINGLE time I have tried to date a more "normal" guy with a "respectable" career …

I feel like it's not widely known over here since they changed the title in English. I didn't even realize that was the original name until I watched the Swedish version of the movie but considering the subject matter I was like, "Wow, that title does make sense!"

"Men Who Hate Women" is known where I am (United States) as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" or "Millennium trilogy". There are some very traumatic plot points in it, but the Lisbeth character does exact revenge and manages to target multiple abusive men. She's also a genius in her own right. But wow, I hadn't even thought of it but I do agree with the commenter! The Vanger family (wealthy Swedish industrialists riddled with generations of incest and murder) definitely has similarities to the H…

This isn't an abuse situation (though I have been abused by men with enabler mothers) but this one LVM who KEPT asking me out, I noticed, was grossly doted on by seemingly every female member of his family. He didn't have sisters, but it was gross to look at. Every single time he posted a picture on social media, his mother, his grandmother, his aunts, etc were all, "Such a HANDSOME boy!" Dude is in his thirties, bald, overweight, doesn't shave, doesn't look like he knows what a spool of floss i…

Agreed. I know so many dudes who almost exclusively pick women 10-15 years older than them with multiple babies by other men. I was in a relationship with a man with a horse face and whom I treated like a king; I am a freelance model, dress immaculately, always shave everything, etc. He ditched me on my 25th birthday for a 31-year-old "androgynous" (masculine-presenting) polyamorous hula hooper who works in the service industry and employs phrases like "tinkle". For a lot of men who aren't incel…

Its true and yet we're usually the ones doing all the work. Be on top! Blow him! Bend over! Get pounded! Get choked! Oh and remember ladies, if you don't feel GRATEFUL to participate in any and all of these acts, you must be "boring" and "vanilla". Get zero compliments even though you shaved, lotioned, and perfumed everything, styled your hair, did your makeup, worked out, and he didn't bother to put on real pants. What is he expected to "perform" exactly, other than toxic masculinity?

Yes. I was hooked on this from the first listen. Amazing how deep something can be when you flip it to a female perspective. It really is like when you ask a man about a breakup. "Oh, it was nothing. It is what it is", "it didn't work out"...95% of the time you will get the most evasive responses because LVM shirk all responsibilities. They care only about making themselves look good. Yet---surprise, surprise!---when you talk to the woman, so many times, the truth comes out. Like the guy I dated…

Same! And even the ones my age (I'm in my late 20s) are just having babies with random women. So what's in it for me, exactly? I don't even want children of my own, so why should I suffer someone else's? Men love crying about feminism and how, "if we're truly equal, the woman better bring something to the table besides sex, hyuh hyuh", but what do they bring? Crying infants from some woman they knew a week before knocking up? Poopy diapers? I'm out.

It's deeply saddening how many people actually think like this too, though. It's but one part of why our society is as screwed as it is. So many babies are born because the parents "just thought it was time". Then we have this whole subset of disinterested parents who are tired, overworked, and annoyed by the mere sight of their children. It's these same parents that often have sly (or so they think) accounts on OLD looking for younger, childfree people (like the men who constantly inboxed me; s…

This too. I've personally witnessed many PickMe's just plan to have babies their whole life so they can get gov't assistance. My ex's mom was one. Woman had like...six kids in total. Never wanted to work outside the home. Motherhood IS work, but this woman was 50+ popping out babies with inmates only. Literally every one of her baby's fathers was in and out of jail constantly. God, this sounds SO MUCH like a friend of mine! It kills me because I'm 28 and she's 40 and she's STILL behaving this way in the pandemic. I empathize (with you; not with my friend or yours). And apparently her therapist "doesn't see amything wrong with it". And have you noticed the men who say this ALWAYS pick women who are alcoholics, controlling, and half the time not even great-looking? They always dismiss women who've caught hell at the hands of men, but God forbid they self-reflect and wonder why they purposely seek out the neediest, most unstable women they can find and then act surprised when it ends in flames.

You should definitely check out the doc on YouTube, it's called "This is Paris". First half is more about her life recently; as a DJ, her relationship, insomnia, her brand. Second half is where she gets into the abuse at Provo Canyon School, and also meets up with other former students to discuss it. It's really eye-opening especially in terms of the "troubled-teen industry". The mascara I bought in a 3 pack at Ross Dress for Less for $5.99. It has lengthening, one for "smoky eyes", and one that…

Agreed. Side note: I actually love her products, too. I've had positive experiences with her lip glosses and mascara; I love the majority of her perfumes, and I have some of her purses from my high school years that are prized possessions. Her testimony felt so genuine. What she said about "Maybe if I can stop their nightmare, it will stop my own" hit me right in the heart. And I like that she made her documentary free for anyone to watch.

I agree. I don't want anyone's mouth near mine, I definitely don't want to kiss anyone who's eaten another woman there...just no. Never. To all of it. It's so sad, but more angering than anything. So many men don't even want intercourse anymore. They want anal rape, torture, choking, feederism...I'm 28. In high school, blow jobs were considered kinky. Now it's nothing but young men making "Choke me, Daddy" memes and crying about how they can't find a "female" who doesn't have an OnlyFans account. They don't even like vaginas---or breasts---anymore; everything is "eat the booty". I am disgusted.

As a survivor of trauma and abuse, I attract a LOT of broken people. I used to think it was just men, but now after more introspection I see it's women too. And they are truly drawn to me; I don't pursue these types, even women. I'm 28 and know a 40-year-old woman who wants to talk to me all the time. Wow, that would gall the hell out of me too! I have had my share of PickMe moments in the past, and I will own up to them, but I simply cannot imagine being a woman looking at a man that much younger than me---who was subordinate to me, no less---and imagining, "This one WANTS me!" I agree, it's nasty as hell. All of it. Had a male friend who told me about how he had an affair with his fifteen-years-older coworker. She was married with TWO daughters under four. Obviously, it takes two to tango so I couldn't overlook the fact that he participated, but... ...he also had some childhood trauma re: being sexually abused by a woman so his view on relationships was warped. I'm a huge Britney fan and am so glad we are having this conversation. I agree with what the Britney's Gram podcasters had to say: would this be happening if she was a man? I very highly doubt it. Only Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys comes to mind. Look at Charlie Sheen. Look at the politicians. My type has some similarities! I am a Latina woman and I'm highly attracted to men with different coloring than me. Because my brother and dad both have black hair, men with lighter hair and eyes are "exotic" to me. I love the contrast in looks when I'm with a man like that (obviously, not just ANY blue-eyed guy; has to be attractive in other ways too, but you get the gist), it's just a turn-on to me. ALL of this. Also, while I'm childfree and plan to stay that way...obviously not everyone is. In truth, many of these men's genes don't deserve to be passed on. Having sex is a privilege, and that goes at least quadruple for having a woman carry your child to term. If the man doesn't take care of himself and employ proper grooming methods---and also has poor genes to begin with---why should that be passed on to another generation? Men are aging more poorly than ever before, which doesn't help. I'm 28 and sooo many men aged 24 are losing their hair, graying, and worse. Meanwhile, a couple 18-year-old girls at work were SHOCKED to learn my age. "We thought you were the same age as us!!"

Sounds like a good book, thanks for the rec! I'd like to check it out. One of my all-time favorite books is "Smashed: Story of a Drunken Girlhood" by Koren Zailckas. Absolutely. I'm not even sure how many men today can even feel guilt. Only insofar as it affects their reputation. Doesn't help that their friends, Pickmeisha squad, mommy and daddy, and everyone else constantly gives them metaphorical lollipops for being "a good guy" just because they're breathing and not a known axe murderer. They're constantly validated by the world and by the time they're adults, the capacity to feel remorse has basically been bred out.

To be blunt, attractiveness doesn't even matter. What I mean is, if you are not their type, I'd say, cut your losses and save yourself the heartache. THIS. Most will not admit it, but I completely agree. You seldom see them bringing a quote-unquote "exotic" woman home to mama. I also see a lot of men who end up with women who look like either their mothers, or themselves. It's messed up.

Thank you for your perspective! Interesting to hear from someone of another ethnicity living in another nation. I've never lived outside the U. S., so I'm not familiar with the dynamics, but I like reading about them. You are right, I should not concern myself over who they end up with. It is hard not to sometimes, when I would hear the "Its not you/it's me/I'm just not looking for anything right now" excuse over and over, only to see them in a relationship so quickly after saying that. That's p…

I definitely don't idolize them, that's for sure. I've know a shit tonne of problematic white men, and I could go on about that for days. This also doesn't mean I want/am attracted to every white man I meet. I'm simply stating that of the men I have developed feelings for or have been attracted to, they tend to have different features than me. I think you're reading too much into my comment. The clingy bit was mentioned as Latinas have unfair assumptions made about us that we are "crazy" etc whe…

I have a lot of difficulty with this. I'm an American Latina who grew up steeped in white culture. I'm also physically attracted to men who don't look like me. I have dated men who were Hispanic---even Americanized Hispanic---and the misogyny is real. And so much commentary about other women's bodies, right in front of me. Lots of cheating too, refusal to acknowledge or treat their mental issues but call me crazy for disagreeing while every female relative waits on them like a prince, etc. I cou…

QUICK, someone tell this to my ex-best friend. Her live-in bf isn't a rapist, but is still LVM in my book. She comes from a broken home (as do I, but in a different way), and has been wanting to get knocked up since she was like 15. She really thought she won the whole lottery when she met this fool on Tinder like 3 years ago who has a job at the braggy tech company in our town, comes from money, is tall, etc. Dude has almost no experience with girls and massive Douche Face Syndrome. Sure enough…

Right. I believe these types are what inspired the phrase "yes dear". I see my ex like this with his formerly Pickmeisha live-in gf who has now done a 180 into a stage 5 clinger. He has a decent job and all, but basically just "goes along" with any and every damn thing she wants. And any time he's posted anything about them, it's written in her vernacular, which has me wondering if she doesn't just dictate to him what he can and cannot post...lol.

Out of curiosity, how long were you with him? I've never had a man outside my family say it to me in my adult life. I'm 27 (those abusive high school bfs who said it don't count). My last ex I was with for 9 months and...nothing.

This is all 10/10. The color scheme, and the use of the term "didn't work out"---which is what my exes would say, so they didn't have to say "I led her on multiple times, abandoned her at the worst possible time, immediately hooked up with someone several years older or younger, and can't fathom why she's upset". It's like using their own catchphrase against them. Brava. P. S. Bonus points for your username.

What's fucked is that even if THEY dump you, lot of them still have the audacity to get mad at you for breathing after the breakup. As I mentioned in a reply to an earlier comment, they can be ugly AF, literally looking like an entire Black Lodge entity (my LVM ex), dump YOU, but then have the audacity to walk around trying to rub themselves/their new clueless sex partner in YOUR face, as if you hurt them. It's a true breeding ground for narcissism and even abuse.

Eh, I 100% believe you, but I must add: it isn't just the pretty ones. My last LVM ex straight-up looked like a Black Lodge entity (we're talking full on Killer BOB here, dirty denim jacket and all) and he still managed to Hoover-Maneuver me. He became (more) entitled that I accepted his advances & gave him the time of day, which further proves this post/sub's point that we should never give LVM half a chance anyhow. Any positive attention goes straight to their empty heads.

Are we the same person? Kidding. But I DID take a puppet-making class (where we got to write, direct, and perform our own plays with the puppets) the summer after third grade where that song played a lot!! That was prominent in my mind's eye as I typed out those lyrics! (Which, I must admit, I had to Google, as she is SO chill that I couldn't make out the exact words after, "Who can say...".)

Definitely, I'm the same way. My friends seldom have the same music taste as me, don't want to be right up front, or think of "going to a show" as a time to just sit at a bar to order expensive drinks, chat, and leave after 15 minutes. Lot of them don't get that I actually left my house and got dressed up to hear (and see) the band. Not just as a vague, brief "hangout". Technically, she dropped me. But thank you. It's been hard honestly. She tried to say she "hadn't felt like we were friends in …

I understand there are a lot of Pickmeishas out here, but as far as the internet goes, I have to wonder if some of these accounts aren't incels posing as women in an attempt to (further) brainwash actual Pickmeishas. God knows they've got nothing better to do.

Hobbies are UNDERSOLD. Passions, really. I am a passionate woman in love and sex, but I've been single 2.5 years now because I'm saving my energy for the right man. My ex-best friend, whom I mention in the comments dropped me when I told her her boyfriend was still active on Tinder, she had no hobbies. She would get annoyed that I'd go out to music events so often. She even told me once, "There's more to life than going to (insert name of my main music bar)", as if I was just there to drink and …

To this day, one of my biggest regrets is not telling a woman that her boyfriend lied to me about being single in order to pursue me. It was just before moving out of state together, too. He claimed he told her, and that she "almost broke up" with him because of it, but given his track record, I have no reason to believe him. I was told by his former bandmate that they were engaged. That was 2 years ago, and I'm not sure if they ever actually got married. I still wish I'd told her myself. I didn…

I actually lost my best friend of 6+ years because her boyfriend was swiping yes to girls on Tinder (one of whom was my friend, whom they'd both met at an event I was speaking at). I calmly and sensitively told her what happened. My friend sent her the screenshot, too. She gave some overly cool response to my friend saying, "Thank you for letting me know". Then, she called me back up saying how it "couldn't possibly be true" because she supposedly took his phone and looked through it and he said…

Absolutely. Reading comments on certain subs can be so disheartening. Comment after comment of people going "but you NEED to have sex to see if the relationship works!". I realized the other day that these people have probably never denied themselves anything! It's not as if some of us don't want to have sex. Many including myself have done things "our way" in the past, and we're still single. So we're trying something different, something that goes against our physical urges, in an effort to en…

Yes! TBH I'm not into Star Wars but I just had to say that I've referenced Hayden's hair in that film specifically as my ideal length/texture on a man. I know those prequel films and his acting got some slack, but can't deny he was looking fine. My biggest crush IRL also had hair very similar to his.

Yes. And I've been told (by men!!) that if they're not groomed properly...well, I won't even say it, but basically, a LOT of unnecessary bacteria/dirt can accumulate in there quite quickly. Given its proximity to the mouth, that could just be bad. I don't much find them attractive. I'm OK with a little stubble/5:00 shadow on a man I'm into every now and again, but maybe not all of the time. I have sorta the opposite problem. While the way I style my hair, do my eyebrows, and my makeup has improved since high school...I've always been into girly stuff. Seldom get anything but the dregs of humanity hitting on me (though I suspect at least some of this has to do with racism and a lot of men still viewing Latinas as "exotic" types to "Fuck, not marry" because that's probably what their dad's told them, etc). This is so totally exactly where I am. I'm celibate and am tired of being ghosted and treated like crap and just cannot see the point in trying anymore. I wish I could find more female friends in this boat. I'm 27 and most of mine are shacked up and want to do nothing but hole up (or conversely, travel) with their pets and significant others. I'm an introvert so I don't even want to go out all the time, but it's come to a point where these women can't even be bothered to respond and are behaving…

This. Male screenwriters invented the theory that the nerd/overweight guy/bald dude will treat you "better"...a myth to serve themselves and get women's clothes off. I have dated men like that in the past, because I wasn't wanted by who I actually wanted, but never again. Women who try to push you to do this (probably because they did) are the worst, too.

Happened to me during my lowest point in 2015 (which was a shit year overall). Dude had been like the alternative equivalent to the quarterback for those of us "Art Freaks". Randomly messaged me at 2 am one morning after years of radio silence. I actually did meet him (in the daytime and in a public setting) for coffee, out of curiosity/for shits & giggles. I did this because the guys I really wanted always chose basic/skinnier/white women over me. NEVER AGAIN. They will treat you the same, if not WORSE. And worst of all...they WILL become cocky as a result of you giving them the time of day. I'm celibate now and have stopped pursuing in general, but if I'm going to get my heart broken in the end anyway, I'd rather it be by someone who actually was my type. In short, I repeat: NEVER AGAIN. You are out of those guy's leagues and you were never meant…

I'm days late to this party, but sort of, on a smaller scale. What I mean is, the men who tend to come on to me are seldom from my city. Some have even lived in other states when they come onto me. Like you, they all fade away eventually, which is disheartening, to say the least. But it is a weird trend. I joke that the men have breathed too much local air. I am an American Latina, if that's relevant. (Also, just recently I've noticed British men being kinder/friendlier to me than American men.)

This reminds me of my mortal enemy's life. I didn't know this when I first met her, but I guess she's apparently a product of her dad's fling with another woman. So she has a half-sister whom she was set up on play dates with as a tot (they are roughly the same age), and the half-sister's mom is still married to the dad. I then learned she also has a brother in some form...I think also from the dad? I'm not sure if the dad was cheating or it was some "free love" bs but either way it's odd. I was…

Definitely makes it weirder. I wonder how well they know each other/would you be comfortable asking your mom? Like, even if you didn't tell your mom about the creepy stuff, would you feel OK about mentioning that this woman lives in your building and asking about how they know each other? I don't obviously know the specifics of that situation, but sometimes stalking or other inappropriate/harmful behavior takes weird turns like observing the others in that person's life. Could it be some weird g…

Right? And yet it is, in my life at least, these same women who think they are uber-progressive somehow. It's like, which is it? If they have the submissive housewife mentality, that's their right, and if they have a "progressive feminist/anarchist/whatever" mentality, that's their right too, but I never get how they can rationalize calling themselves progressive or modern or whatever, yet having/spouting that vintage doormat rhetoric.

Agree with everyone so far in comments, but I'm taking it a step further than even them. My intention is not to scare you, I've just been harmed/abused by people in my past. All I'm saying is, in addition to being both baffling and weirdly boundary-crossing, I think it is not out of the realm of the possible to have safety concerns. My answer, in short? Avoid avoid avoid. Everything about her asking you that just reeks of "something's not right" to me.
