Taking control of your sexuality is empowering. Having sex with an attentive partner is a fun time. Can also be empowering. Being treated like shit? Not empowering. It comes from halfway deconstructing toxic ideas of purity, but not building up self esteem & subsequently getting treated like shit. The sentiment is, essentially: friends with benefits is a great idea in theory…too bad men are bad at friendship.

I am do confused by this post. “Women would rather fuck a hot celebrity than a stranger they’re not attracted to.” No shit?

Quit smoking Learn to moisturize. I am SO sick of guys in their early 20s looking in their 30s/smelling like an ashtray. These two steps take care of both of it. (Also, I don’t want my vag to smell like a fucking ashtray because of the cigarette residue on your hands/mouth....it’s a thing that never quite goes away.)

Forreal. That’s why I’m skeptical of any strategy/goal for “commitment/devotion ASAP.” Like, yeah, there are reasonable timelines. But getting too close/intimate/obsessed with someone too soon is SUCH a crazy red flag, I can’t imagine why anybody would want that - especially because the people who are susceptible to that are inherently not HV.

I feel like an HVM will pursue you at a regular pace. Moving too quickly emotionally, IMO is a red flag. The types of men who will be susceptible to intermittent reinforcement won’t be high value. That being said, trauma bonding with a broken man who’s lonely enough can happen virtually overnight.

I had a fling with a guy who moved halfway around the world. We ended on good terms, but haven’t spoken since he moved. When he knew he would be back in my city for a bit, he texted me THREE WEEKS ahead of time to schedule something. This guy had spoiled me in more ways than one, but above and beyond all it was his no-bullshit approach to making time to see me, caring that I had a good time sexually, and general open communication. Life happens. But people make time for what matters to them, and…

I had vaginismus for such a long time - my college bf had a shitty attitude towards it as well. He never wanted to work with me to find out what relaxed me enough - just wanted to send me off to a gyno and have it be not his problem. We broke up. I did eventually go to a lovely gyno and began working on it - but lo and behold, comfort with a partner turned out to be the most important factor in being able to relax enough to do PIV. I’ve had fwb who were more understanding with “easing me into it…

Mr Right could still cheat on you and infect you. And with the rates of heroin use/HIV in some cities...do you really want to risk that? On a less sinister note, he could give you UTIs, BV, or a yeast infection. Which are...not great.

I use condoms. Always. And I’ve never, ever had a guy give me grief over it. In fact, I’ve never been with a guy who didn’t either a) automatically reach for a condom or b) ask, “Should I get a condom?” (As in, “we’re half naked, are we gonna fuck?” Not as in “are you going to make me wear one.”) I’m on the pill, primarily for KILLER cramps (like, missed 3 days of school a month killer.) But I also am paranoid about pregnancy, so 2 forms of birth control are my preferred method. I’ve had guys as…

Oh, without a doubt. My ultimate ideal would be a guy with a PhD or an MD - a master’s is acceptable, providing he has a research position somewhere or is otherwise involved in academia. But even my dropout ex hated the fact that I was moving up in the world and had aspirations - Christ knows what some uneducated fuckboi would think about a doctor 😂

Thank you!!! Same to you, and congrats on your recovery! ☺️ I don’t consider myself “ambitious” in a typical sense — I’m not as money driven as my business-oriented peers —but unambitious people don’t go to grad school. Intelligence is sexy. Passion is sexy. (And yeah, a stable income is sexy too, but like you said - that’s not #1.) I’ve met some GREAT MSW/MA in English guys who’d I’d MUCH rather be with than a typical finance/BBA bro. I’m so glad you second the sentiment. Cheers!

Girl, I’m getting my PhD and I’m considered “elitist” for wanting to (ultimately) wind up with a a partner with a similar education level. Nah, sis. I busted my ass to get into one of THE most competitive programs in the nation, I’m not here for some guy who dropped out midway through his bachelor’s. Sorry not sorry, They’ll call you entitled no matter WHAT....so might as well have lofty standards to begin with.

You should read “Why Does He Do That” by Lundy Bandcroft. Google the title, there’s a free pdf. (Tbh, it should be required reading for ALL women who date men, but victims of IPV need it the most.) Secondly, I am so so sorry for what you’ve dealt with. More than this sub, what you could likely benefit from is a therapist or support group. Thirdly, my advice is to wait. Don’t online date. Don’t date period. Take time to process and reflect and heal. I watched my mother jump into dating (decades o…

I despise texting for the sake of texting, even with my closest girlfriends. It’s irksome, everyone who does it is needy, and I’m a busy goddamn person. Text me when you have something to say - even the people I text “constantly” we go hours/days between replies. However, I like texting to make plans, to talk about plans, and the typical “got home okay/had fun/let’s do it again” cute stuff, maybe something flirty or sexy, if we’re at that stage. But miss me with that “textationship” BS. Either m…

This is a bit of a nuanced topic IMO. My ex rarely, if ever was a giver - even though he worked full time and I was a student. Once we broke up (and still did that BS “let’s try to be friends” nonsense - don’t judge too harshly, I was 19 and blocked him a few months after anyway) he went absolutely OVERBOARD splurging on me - took me on a weekend trip, birthday gifts, out to dinner, etc. When I pointed out to him it was weird that he did this now that we WEREN’T dating, he said, “Well. I guess I…

It works on like, young teenagers who are new to dating. Which means that if he’s doing this, homeboy likely peaked in high school.

Also the “systems” in place that women have for dealing with the depression are usually social circles (which we tend to invest more time and emotional energy in) and healthcare (women (who can afford to go to doctors) tend to go more than men.) Like, there’s more to it for sure — but that’s my main issue with the OPs post 🙄🙄🙄

I think it’s reasonable to not be smitten with someone you’ve only known for a week or so - in fact, I would argue it leads to a healthier dating experience. (Less pressure, less anxiety, less moving too fast.) If you want that spark by the first date, by all means hold out for it! But IMO, it doesn’t hurt to entertain someone who otherwise checks all your boxes and see if the spark makes an appearance. You can always see him non exclusively while dating other people.

I’m not sure if I would call it a red flag (but I might have a different definition of “red flag”), but IMO it’s EXTREMELY disrespectful. Looking at other women - ew, but that’s one thing. Adding them on insta? Another entirely. That is BEYOND the pale and insult to injury.

As a young-20s, I absolutely would not. Never. No thank you. I don’t want kids, and I don’t want to waste my 20s on someone who has different priorities/responsibilities/life path than I do. As I age - in theory - if I’m dating when I’m in my 40s,/50s - I would be open to dating a guy with older kids. Most guys in my age range who have kids have super young kids (who require more attention) and to me that’s a suuuuper big turn off .

You would agree to marry someone you’ve known for potentially less than a year? That seems risky. (I mean, it’s all risky, but if someone proposed after less than 2 years of dating, I’d assume he’s rushing things, the way emotionally unstable/needy/toxic men tend to do, and RUN.)

And those same men who go super hard jackhammering you - when you don’t enjoy it - will be the same ones complaining that “men do all the work” in bed. Like, I didn’t ask you to do that? I’d prefer if you didn’t actually?

Biggest pet peeve: men who’s first pic (or ANY pic, but especially when it’s the first one) is them raising the middle finger. Like...? What are you trying to prove? Flipping off a potential match isn’t a good strategy, my guy, but go off and prove how much of a man you are. Aside from being trashy as all hell, on a deeper. psychological level, seeing someone make an offensive gesture is going to immediately raise some red flags and activate their threat detection networks. It’s not a way to get…

I only agree to PIV if he’s gone down on me A) first B) with enthusiasm C) without having to be prompted. Otherwise, if I’m making out with a guy, PIV (or anything for his benefit) does NOT happen.

I think this is, at its core, an overcorrection. I’ve found myself doing it recently, almost as “if you can’t beat em, join em.” And yeah, part of you is going to like the power trip, or the revenge fantasy. And there’s nothing egregiously wrong with it...but it sounds like it’s not fulfilling. And if it’s not serving you, then it’s worth asking yourself why you continue that behavior. You can want better and demand better for yourself while still being nice. There’s some deprogramming involved,…
