Dating apps tap into human uncertainty/overthinking. They know that if more options are presented, people are less likely to be able to choose.

I think this has been a prevailing issue for both men and women. If you begin to believe that there is someone “better” at the next swipe, you begin to see people as just a number, wanting to continually swipe to get someone greater than. I’m not suggesting people settle, I’m simply saying that it is human nature, when provided with endless options via dating apps, to want to roll the dice again and again to see if they can get better. When in reality, people may be overlooking compatible indivi…

This. There’s a happy medium with everything, TRP included. Some guys take it wayyyy too serious, and you can feel the misogyny in their rhetoric/arguments. I follow many aspects of it as it relates to sexual dynamics and self-improvement

It’s orbiter type behavior on the basis of covert contracts and ill-intentions. It’s pathetic for sure. If a chick turns me down, in any capacity, I don’t act butthurt or question the basis, I simply keep it moving out of respect for her wishes, as well as respect for myself.

Feeling that they had a friend in someone who covertly wanted a relationship?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/21 06:24 PM

Agreed, and I think guys who partake in trying to get at a girl who is in a relationship are both desperate and ill-intentioned. It would probably be best for both parties that he disappear

Even if a guy only wanted sex, and disappeared once you got a boyfriend, what does it matter to you, or women for that matter? A guy who was ill-intentioned left once you entered a relationship. Wouldn’t you want this? If a guy left because he wanted a relationship, he’s being respectful of your boundaries and of the relationship you have entered. Again, wouldn’t you want this?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/21 06:19 PM

Yeah, I personally wouldn’t enter into friendship with a covert motivation of switching that into a relationship. That’s kind of weak, unless organically feelings arise

Thank you lol

Women want other things. Humans act in self-interest. Water is wet

Well sex usually occurs in a relationship, so by that logic, seeking a relationship is simping? Your initial comment suggests that men are wrong to exit such situation if friendship is all that will be possible, due to her being in a relationship and having a boyfriend. And you wonder why men have this seemingly irrational fear that they are being placed into her orbit of men? We know women have tons of options. Some men choose not to play that game, out of self respect, respect for her monogamy…

I’d argue men want sex and companionship, but are initially driven by sexual/romantic endeavors when dealing with women. I have friends who are women, however, that I was not driven by sex to interact with (in fact, I wouldn’t even find that prospect appealing with them). Im simply ridiculing that first line, where men disappear once you get a boyfriend. Any self-respecting person, male or female, is not in the wrong for deciding to “disappear” when said person has entered relationship, especial…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/21 05:30 PM

Why would a self-respecting person want to wait in the wings, orbiting, when they wanted a relationship? Where is this entitlement coming from lol. “I have a boyfriend, but you stay right there simping over me and giving me validation!”

So for those who would like a lasting and meaningful relationship it’s bad for. Isn’t that most people?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/21 09:34 PM

Curious, how do you reconcile both men and women preferring to find the highest quality partner? Wouldn’t that insinuate that both parties would have to subconsciously think the other person is of highest quality that they are able to achieve? If so, I feel single adults would be extremely high and monogamous relationships would be near extinct with very short shelf lives. I’d argue you see many men date down, subjectively speaking.

Fair enough. I don’t know your current situation, just speaking in hypotheticals. I’m glad you operate as such, and that you view that DM sliding as idiocy. My only counter would be that there are probably many people (male and female) that would consider the “idiot” if it were Leonardo DiCaprio or Kendall Jenner slid in their DM’s (Or whoever else is considered attractive in today’s mainstream). Obviously these are the extreme examples, but if we are honest with ourselves, I think there is a po…

What if the guy sliding in your DMs isn’t an “idiot” and is objectively better than your current situation? No temptation?

Yep, it’s unfortunate. Some of it is biological (wanting the best genetics in offspring), but IMO it’s becoming detrimental to modern dating. I’ve personally dealt with it, as have many others, where someone thinks the grass is greener due to the vast supply and attention (online dating, social media, etc.) only to find those shiny 5-star products are flawed in different ways. We are all human, and the picturesque, perfect human or partner doesn’t exist. Society has trained us never to compromis…

I think online dating does the same thing. When options are available, with the ease of a swipe, why wouldn’t people hold out for better? It’s unfortunate, but truth is a lot of people don’t go into the dating world with what they want in mind, in terms of attributes in an ideal partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/06/21 09:50 PM
1

I think unrealistic and/or excessive expectations, combined with access to a large amount of singles via online dating, are primarily to blame for this
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/21 04:45 PM

Yep. They say they don’t like macho men, but the actions almost always say otherwise
/r/askTRP19/06/21 06:42 PM

The list of things men need to be is never-ending, but a prerequisite of taking care of yourself is often too much for them. I straight up would tell a girl before LTR that being in relative shape is part of the agreement

Lol where in this did I say I didn’t have things to be thankful for? Or that my dating life is a failure?

Staying in contact makes it seem like I’m okay being an emotional tampon / orbiter, no?

Idk, the “bad” are some very big red flags lol. I wouldn’t play with fire, but that’s just me.

I definitely made the mistake with my ex thinking that things would get better if I did more for her. Started alpha, turned beta, and now I’m back to almost peak alpha in some ways. I said no to her a lot initially, but then succumbed to trying to please her once we got more serious. Can’t help but think I messed up a bit. Tough pill to swallow
/r/askTRP20/05/21 03:10 PM
2

I figured someone would say this. I am my own source of motivation, but like many things, you want to be surrounded by those who are equally if not seemingly more intelligent, intellectual, motivated, as it seems to rub off and subconsciously we become partially a product of our environment. I’m more so talking about do you vet for a chick who is going to be equally motivated in her own endeavors and bettering herself
/r/askTRP20/05/21 02:43 PM

Got it. I know this one guy who is the living epitome of nice guy. He’s high smv but literally simps hard and can’t take no for an answer. Took this girl on one fancy date and won’t leave her alone now.
/r/askTRP20/05/21 02:29 PM
1

Makes sense, thank you. So basically don’t be an incel lol
/r/askTRP20/05/21 02:25 PM
1

In that case, I’m doing fine. Nice guy kinda sounds synonymous with incel.
/r/askTRP20/05/21 02:22 PM
1

I gotcha, so it’s a bit more nuanced than the way I’m describing it. I am seeing it black and white which maybe is incorrect. I feel as though I’ve naturally attained a level of this, making sure I’m doing things that serve me and not overextending myself as part of some kind of covert contract. It’s just hard to not subconsciously do this with close friends at time, doing favors for friends on occasion to strengthen that bond even further.
/r/askTRP20/05/21 01:52 PM
2

So essentially, with those 2-4 people and family, you are just not keeping a mental ledger or seeking the return. Makes sense. I think it’s just hard to draw the line with those who are extended from that category. Plenty of fringe people in my life who I would do nice things for if not too inconvenient

Can attest to this. Turning 27 soon and the chicks our age are looking to settle down and then younger chicks look up to us because we have our stuff together.

Things will only get worse if you decide to stay. Been in a similar situation brotha and at the 5 year mark you know what this future will be like. Things aren’t going to change between you two. The disrespect will only increase with time. Also, it’s a reasonable expectation for your partner to stay in shape. You shouldn’t have to barter for that. Imagine you put on weight and stopped caring. She’d be monkey-branching away at first chance. It’s tough to hold frame in an LTR, and it sounds like s…

Agreed. I dated my ex for 5 years and didn’t vet properly and got burnt pretty bad, so I’ll just keep vetting and see where things are at in a year or so

I want kids, it’s more of a matter of when. At this very moment, I don’t see wanting kids when I am 30-33

1

Just trying to be considerate, but you are right
/r/askTRP05/05/21 08:49 PM
1

Fair points. But that’s why I’m posting here, to be considerate of her biological clock and not waste her time, or mine. Also, she’s not even 30, so there is still time to vett out and see if this is right for both of us.
/r/askTRP05/05/21 08:47 PM
1

I’d love to talk to her ex. She makes her ex sound crazy and talks poorly of him (awalt), so perhaps you are right on that last part. I’ll continue vetting
/r/askTRP05/05/21 08:04 PM
1

And what would that decision be?
/r/askTRP05/05/21 08:03 PM

Perhaps, I don’t buy into every single RP thing, but am curious as to the perspective in this matter

I know, but in regards to children, the timer is more relevant compared to a younger woman
/r/askTRP05/05/21 04:41 PM
2

Yeah I have my suspicions for sure. I don’t think she sees me as a provider and I’m very clear that my money is mine and that she needs to have a career of her own.
/r/askTRP05/05/21 04:22 PM
2

Interesting, thanks for the insight. I’d love to be able to keep vetting over the next few years. That would make me feel better honestly
/r/askTRP05/05/21 04:10 PM
1

She has hinted at it (not now, but in her 30’s) and biologically it becomes a lot more difficult after 35. I want kids but I see a window that may limit my ability to travel and enjoy the world, have new experiences. I appreciate the insight. I’ll keep vetting and maybe try and dig and see what her thoughts are on having children and when.
/r/askTRP05/05/21 04:09 PM

Yep, around 5 months. I think I could easily be happy with her, but I’m also realistic about the biological clock

Thanks for the response, I’ll try and do that
/r/askTRP29/04/21 06:23 PM

Yep, my ex had both too. She still occupies a bit of headspace unfortunately, but I know I don’t want to go back to her at all

She’s seeing someone else lol. Has a bf apparently, but still hits me up

That’s true, just curious how others deal with it
/r/askTRP29/04/21 06:06 PM

Could be a few reasons. You come off as “too available”, she begins to think “he’s doing everything for me so I must be the prize, not him”, or just losing respect for you because you are prioritizing/idealizing/pedestaling her. You can treat women well and not cross into this territory. It’s just a fine line and very difficult to maintain frame 100% of the time in a relationship. I failed plenty of shit tests and catered to her way too much, because I was dumb/naive and thought the more I try i…

Basically there are women out there who, on the surface, appear very confident in themselves. However, these narcissistic type of women will always be seeking some sort of validation, usually not blatantly if she’s a covert narcissist. But deep down, she craves that attention and validation (usually because of some childhood trauma). In my case, I was dealing with a woman who covertly and overtly enjoyed male attention. She had a network of secret orbiters who always pumped her up and validated …

Agree with this. I applied dread too hard on a covert narc (incredibly insecure deep down) and she ended up monkey branching / cheating

Appreciate it. Yeah they are planning these trips, drinking, hanging with women, etc...and still sorta on their grind, just not to the level that I am. I’m getting my personal finances in place and have a laser focus right now on my purpose, so at times it feels lonely. Never tedious though, because I know it’s setting me up for the long run.
/r/askTRP27/01/21 04:14 PM
2

Sounds 100% BPD/narcissistic. My ex was the same, checked all of the boxes that you outlined above - it’s what brought me here I think the broken family and not having a good relationship with the father is the BIGGEST red flag. My ex was also on anti-anxiety medications.
/r/askTRP18/01/21 03:50 PM

Lol I’ve visited twice and have really considered moving there too...weather, good companies down there, and the women are insanely attractive Seems like it’d be a fun place to live for a year or two, but not long term
/r/askTRP18/01/21 04:07 AM

I went back, got burnt again. You can’t fix or heal her, she has to want to do that for herself, and actually put in the work. Encourage her to get help, but don’t let this become your problem that brings you down to the dumps. Billions of women out there, don’t waste time on the ex.
/r/askTRP06/01/21 04:19 PM
11

Haven’t read Rational Male yet, but boy do I cringe at my old self buying into that Disney fairytale. I even articulated it (her being my “soulmate”) to my ex (who cheated on me after 5 years together and monkey-branched) The way I managed to overcome this is to adopt a more realistic (possibly a bit more pessimistic) view of the world. I’d also recommend chilling out on idealizing people in general. It’s very easy to think people are much better individuals (and higher SMV) than they really are…
/r/askTRP06/01/21 04:15 PM
1

Definitely. I wasn’t jamming it in her face either... just continuously striving to be the best version of myself, and she seemed to hate it. Has to be insecurity that I am doing things to better myself and am seemingly desirable to some women. She would get angry/annoyed when I’d eat healthy, go to the gym, tell her of my achievements, work success, etc...
/r/askTRP04/01/21 12:48 AM

So she basically was overly insecure and felt she needed to prove she was desirable via cheating/monkey-branching? Aka validation

From what I’ve seen, it’s more of an indifferent/nonchalant attitude that attracts (which can at times come off asshole-ish) If they come along for the ride, cool. If not, that’s also cool.

While that is true, not everyone is blessed with natural attractiveness in terms of features, there is plenty that you can control, such as: -Body fat % -Haircut -Fashion -Finances/Career -Living an interesting life No excuses, set some goals and get after it.
/r/askTRP24/12/20 04:16 PM
5

That’s certainly what brought me here, a narcissistic woman who nearly crushed me. But I also don’t take everything in TRP literally, and try to have a balanced, almost purple pill approach. Definitely are some truth’s to woman’s nature here, however, and I appreciate the emphasis on self-improvement.
/r/askTRP18/12/20 04:44 PM

This happened to me in a 5 yr relationship Was RP before I even knew what it was, she begged for a relationship, and after awhile of spinning the plate I agreed, she domesticated me, made me into the exact “mold” and then did everything in this post plus get bored and monkey branch
/r/WhereAreAllTheGoodMen11/12/20 11:46 PM
1

Yeah I definitely made mistakes, lost frame at times, and way over invested. I showered her with attention, love, and gifts, because I thought that was part of what you do to build the relationship. It backfired. We dated early 20’s through mid 20’s, she twice found herself wondering if the grass was greener elsewhere, and yet I mistakenly took her back each time because she told me all these things about how I was the best for her etc. (failed monkey branching most likely). I’m 26 now and feel …

Definitely been reading and trying to gain new experiences, and I’ve been trying to better myself everyday with concrete goals in mind. It was a relationship of 5 years, so it got hard after awhile to maintain that level of “fun, interesting, and seductive” I never stopped being seductive and escalating and making her feel feminine, but at some point, that other person knows you 100% and it naturally is probably not as interesting.
/r/askTRP04/12/20 09:49 PM

Lol what is valuable to them these days? Seriously My ex: After holding out for years, eventually gave her attention, gifts, love, care, etc....only to be monkey branched on (I’m 6ft, jacked, high paying career, have my shit together, my own place, treated her well, treated her family well, etc.). If women choose men for utility, it makes no sense why they monkey branch, especially to lower SMV men at times. Guess there’s no point in trying to understand
/r/askTRP04/12/20 08:14 PM

Right? If the interest is there, they will respond lol I’ve always thought maybe making a fake account to see how it is on the other side would be interesting

I (26M) have a tiny bit of vitiligo which caused some grey in my beard. I simply keep it well-groomed and like another user said, work on other aspects of your life (working out, eating right, be on your purpose) and a little grey won’t matter. If anything, some chicks will like the distinguished look. I’ve found this to be true
/r/askTRP03/12/20 03:59 PM

Yep, talked to one of her mutual friends who I was still friends with and he told me she started reaching out to me not even a MONTH after it didn’t work out with the other guy she monkey branched to...

Agreed, but for many men who don’t know about cluster B or the nature of many women via TRP, this is completely foreign and doesn’t always manifest itself in obvious, diagnosable ways
/r/askTRP02/12/20 11:20 PM

It was never on my radar until someone on my post mentioned borderline personality disorders and I began researching and realized I had allowed myself to be abused for years.
/r/askTRP02/12/20 11:18 PM

I’m good now, but it took many months to even regain my sense of self. She manufactured a toxic push/pull dynamic where I was enslaved to her and chasing. Obviously this was before TRP, but I had no idea what was happening when it was going on. I was oblivious. And while many women exhibit characteristics of narcissism (hypergamy, inflated sense of self/value, etc.), narcissistic women are truly sinister, especially covert ones (like my ex). They can destroy you. She took a strong, relatively al…

Had a 5 year relationship (see my profiles only post) and my cluster b, BPD, narcissist ex did come back. Heed my warning and don’t go back. There are so many reasons why they come back (validation, monkey branching gone wrong, loneliness, etc.) Get on your purpose and block her if you have to, but don’t expend energy on an ex. I learned the hard way and allowed her back in and she nearly destroyed me.

Got it, thanks. Yeah I haven’t been talking sex with her over text, just random shit. Trying to keep it interesting. But I’m going to do what you said, I think that’s the right course of action.
/r/askTRP26/11/20 11:57 PM
1

Bro I literally almost left the date without her number, that’s how little emphasis I placed on texting her. And then I got a laugh out of her by saying I don’t even have her number (we made out in her car before this). Now that I have her number I feel that I’m texting too much (even if it is only once every couple days). You’re right, I need to not overthink this and just text her next week and make plans to see her. She’s made it abundantly clear she wants to see me soon.
/r/askTRP26/11/20 11:52 PM

Yeah and when she said that I just kind of laughed it off lol. I pass those shit tests and I know she is interested. She straight up told me on the first date how she thought it was “funny/odd that I only Snapchat messaged her a few times before the date”. She already has made a comment on how little I message her, so I picked it up slightly, and now I’m thinking I should revert back to an occasional snap or whatever and only text for logistics. She’s pretty attractive and has lots of orbiters/I…

It doesn’t come across as disinterested in THEM if you never text them, only for plans? Alright man, in short, this chick is older than me by a few years and I’m worried I’m coming off as a complete fuckboy. She already said she got that vibe from me (jokingly but maybe with a bit of truth). I’m trying to convey abundance, not be outcome dependent, while also showing a slight interest in her so I don’t turn her off completely with her thinking I’m a fuck boy.
/r/askTRP26/11/20 11:39 PM
1

Okay, will do. I understand texting is for logistics, and that over texting hurts your cause, I just was wondering if dropping off for a week plus will come off as weird lol
/r/askTRP26/11/20 11:12 PM
2

I’m saying I think I can plate and then see what she’s about over time, not over investing this early and I’m talking to other chicks. So just chill on the texting and hit her up when I get back?
/r/askTRP26/11/20 11:01 PM
2

Absolutely, you know how to proceed.
/r/askTRP24/11/20 07:14 PM

My ex still finds ways to contact me too, through her friends/family, even email... But I’m at a point where I’m actually feeling the best I’ve felt in awhile, and her being out of my life was the spark that got me going. She was toxic, cheated, and overall someone who was not invested in the relationship towards the end. You gotta recognize this is not a good thing and block everywhere possible and refocus on your purpose.
/r/askTRP24/11/20 07:02 PM

She monkey branched to another guy (perhaps while you were still dating), it didn’t work out with the guy, and now she has buyers remorse and wants you back. Been here before and under no circumstances can you go back or allow her in. I let my ex in and got burnt badly (before RP). Don’t be a backup, mate. You are the prize and in taking her back you show low self-worth/self-respect. I personally wouldn’t even mess around with her. Feelings/emotions are obviously present, at least on her side if…

So I waited a few days since date, and then this morning sent her a pic of something interesting. Letting it flow from here, and then making plans for this next weekend when I get home. After I make plans, I’ll trail off for a bit for the rest of the week with the holidays and such. I don’t want to overdo the communication.
/r/askTRP23/11/20 08:30 PM
1

Yep, that’s the plan. She mentioned on our date how she was confused by how little I communicated with her prior to the date (it was all over snap and very limited). So I’m trying to find the balance between keeping some mystery/attraction up from withdrawing attention, while also not losing her interest altogether or making her feel like she’s being ghosted or put on the back burner.
/r/askTRP23/11/20 08:12 PM

Made out and sent her on her way, had to pack for a trip I was leaving for, but I’d say I’m in good standing. Now just trying to figure out how to proceed over text
/r/askTRP23/11/20 08:07 PM
1

I did, we both said we wanted to see each other again soon, and she kept mentioning future things that she wanted to do together. I’ll just wait until next week when I’m in town to make plans. Assuming the small talk and texting efforts will only work against me in the meantime
/r/askTRP22/11/20 05:31 AM

Nailed the first date btw - everything went perfect. Made out at end of date and will hit her up in next couple days to make more plans.

Roger that. Appreciate it. Yeah I think I just hype her up in my head. I have other options but this chick is more attractive.

This looks good, thanks. And your username is also a good reminder haha

And simpin/making them the prize on the pedestal makes them unattracted to us in turn. Good reminder

How do you play it then? This chick probably has a lot of orbiters/options

Yeah it does feel good. I know with my ex I can tell that she deep down knows these guys aren’t even a fraction of the man I am, but yet she has to prove to herself that she made the right decisions in monkey branching. That’s why when they come back, you can’t let them in. They made the decision and they have to live with it.
/r/askTRP16/11/20 07:49 PM

It does feel insulting, but you have to remember this monkey branching is not logical. Probably based on impulsive, emotional reasons, not directly related to you...but I’m sure if you think back, there were times were you lost frame, acted beta, etc..use this experience for growth and don’t let these women into a LTR next time, and don’t allow yourself to slip up too much. Bottom line, become the highest SMV you can and be on your purpose.

100% understand what you are going through. My ex (who I dated for 5 years) monkey-branched twice (we broke up twice in that 5 years together) to 1) an alcoholic and then years later 2) a guy involved in a pyramid scheme. Both objectively worse looking, less ambitious, and lower SMV (sexual market value). I still struggle with understanding why this was the case. I’m a high SMV individual. Live in my own place in the best part of town, have a high-paying career, and am 6ft and hit the gym 6-7 da…

Figure out what style you feel most confident in, figure out what size fits you best (get a female or professional opinion), and then if you have social media, maybe follow some men’s fashion pages. This helped me at least get some ideas of what items are staples to the male wardrobe. From here, adjust to what feels/looks best for you.

Your friend sounds like a creep man, and slightly rapey. You did the right thing telling him off, taking her home, and due to the disrespect (been in almost the exact situation) you should just tell her what she did tomorrow when she’s sober, and then soft next/drop her from rotation.

Had a LTR of 5 years with a chick like this. It drove me absolutely insane. This was before RP and had no idea what frame was, but women like this make it extremely difficult to keep frame for extended periods of time. Nothing is logical, nothing is their fault, and if they are seemingly in the wrong? Its because you pushed them to act that way with something you were or weren’t doing for them. Not sure if this is something common, but I won’t LTR a chick going forward with traits as such. It wa…

Yeah obviously the priority is personal and professional growth, but meeting new women and finding a new scene also has an appeal if I’m honest.

Absolutely. I’m very scheduled and gym always makes it into my daily schedule. I think that’s extra important, having a routine, when you move somewhere else. Brings a sense of structure and familiarity for a very unfamiliar, new setting. Thanks again

Appreciate the perspective man, and noted. I’m trying to balance impulsiveness with getting out of my comfort zone. I’m just way too bored of my current situation and know I will look back years down the road wishing I had made more big moves.

Thanks for this insight, my experience was very similar when coming to my current city, and I’m wondering if I can continue to grow by choosing places/cities that push me further in personal and professional development.

Shit test OR she is wanting to explore other options too (possibly already has ideas of who she would want to try out), despite what she may be telling you about “not having interest in doing the same”

I have the same issue, if you want to call it an “issue”. I feel like I always leave them better off than I found them. You probably look at it similarly, as almost an investment. It can be frustrating when it falls apart but I’ve come to not get hung up on it too much.

We exchanged about 6-8 messages on app, and now 3-4 over text, it feels premature but I’ll see what happens. She already kinda ended convo with a closed ended comment, so that’s where I’m stuck. I guess abundance mentality would tell me on to the next

I had the opposite problem for awhile, huge chest and smaller arms/back. Genetics gave me a good base for chest luckily, but I had to work at chest to even it out and make it muscular. I had the mass there, but wasn’t defined or built. What worked for me was a lot of time under tension doing primarily incline, flat, decline, and flies. I think 4 sets in each of these lifts with adequate rest after is suitable for most. I also wouldn’t do a shoulder day the next day after chest, as there will be …

Yeah part of me doesn’t understand how someone can be this manipulative, if in fact that is what’s happening

Been a lot of words but little action. This isn’t the first time either. She’s said everything under the sun to throw me off the scent of the cheating before
/r/askTRP09/09/20 11:18 PM

She’s addicted to how she looks to the outside world, from physical appearance to career, to anyone and everyone

Sound advice, thanks man
/r/askTRP09/09/20 11:16 PM

I used to talk about how disgusting cheating was when in context, because I’ve seen it first hand with friends and her with her family, she always seemed onboard with the idea of simply breaking it off before it ever got to that. I guess it was one of those situations where she let the earth burn until I finally caught her in the act.

Pretty great lengths for validation

Very true. This is kinda the second time she thought the grass was greener. At least the first time she broke up with me, but who knows, maybe she had already been emotionally cheating. She’s a mess man haha

Lol so illogical. Sounds like a lose lose if I ever take her back, feed her ego or run into issue again with her trying to swing to another branch
/r/askTRP09/09/20 10:53 PM

Most likely. And that branch swinging could likely happen again, if I were to entertain
/r/askTRP09/09/20 10:51 PM

Yeah I’ve been firm with her and I’m not gonna allow that to happen
/r/askTRP09/09/20 10:47 PM

This is the perfect explanation, thank you. RP? Sorry I’m new lol. She did try and move on and it didn’t work, so as a default (perhaps to avoid loneliness and the possibility of not finding better) she immediately came back to me, because you’re right, I didn’t act beta when I caught her. I shut that shit down immediately, blocked her, and went no contact. I’m only even hearing her out now because I don’t feel attached and my emotions/feelings have subsided. It’s just an odd shit test of theirs…
/r/askTRP09/09/20 09:56 PM

Nah I didn’t act that beta, and I’m not going to take blame for her cheating. I just think I could have done some things differently. I was completely plating her the first year of us talking, lacked any seriousness, and wouldn’t give her the time of day. It was almost purely physical. I wanted to be a good boyfriend though, and sometimes that can leak into beta territory, but I wouldn’t say that drove her to cheating.
/r/askTRP09/09/20 09:02 PM

I think you have pros and cons to both. Pros of new chick, obviously you don’t think they have the capacity to cheat nor the history of it, assuming they are LTR material. Cons is exactly for that reason, you don’t always know what you are getting, and pride aside, my ex may have truly just messed up, as we all do as humans. Now, that’s not to say it’s beneficial for me to entertain that, and I’d argue that it’s probably not the best route, which is why I’m not doing precisely that. The cheating…

It does sound exhausting having to have ground rules for another adult. She would have to bring those suggestions to me in good faith, and even then, I’m not sure I’m buying it
/r/askTRP09/09/20 08:25 PM

Super insightful, thank you. She’s incredibly self-serving in general, and selfish to the core, so I never ruled out that this whole act of making dramatic motions to get me back is all part of a way of convincing herself of her own supposed morals or values, and convincing herself that despite her acting unethically, she is still a valuable person. She’s lonely, insecure, anxious, and has this skewed perception of herself that she is superior to most others. This whole situation threatens her s…

/r/askTRP09/09/20 08:06 PM

True, but it’s not just a text, it’s calling nearly a year later using #67 to hide the number and crying about how much regret she has and how badly she wants to try again. I know a major incentive for her is being lonely and having to move to a new city for work in the near future, having nobody to support her or lean on. I hate feeling like she thinks I can be her backup or emotional support when times are tough.
/r/askTRP09/09/20 07:42 PM

I understand, thanks. It does feel like a big slap in the face only having my value realized retroactively and after having tested the waters of cheating/single life

Thanks for the comment. So what does that look like? Making her prove herself and work her way back into my good grace? There has to be a balance if I were to ever consider this, or else it's a waste of time.

I've contemplated the theory of "once a cheater, always a cheater" and I'm not entirely sold on it. I think that is rooted in pride, although more times than not it is the preferred, self-respecting route to take. I agree, the real issue at hand is not falling back into beta mode trying to ensure she doesn't cheat again. It's hard to be alpha in a LTR if you aren't feeling secure due to past transgressions as such.

Care to explain? Not sure I understand.
/r/askTRP09/09/20 06:46 PM

Perhaps some feels, I dated her for 5 years and deemed her LTR material. Obviously her actions showed that I was wrong. I guess I'm just trying to understand the logic and her end-game, because it's a lack of respect that got us to where we are, yet she wants me back?
/r/askTRP09/09/20 06:45 PM

I think I can take both of your inputs and practice them in harmony. I'll feel it out and continue working on myself. Regardless, she would have to work her way back in my good grace, and it will be difficult, as I'm enjoying single life.
