I think I had a very favorable decree. I made my last alimony payment this month. That said, I worry about the repercussions of her losing a significant amount of post tax monthly income and how that will affect our daughter’s quality of life.

Walk! Get out of your house and walk. Listen to music if it helps. Gets you out of your head and is sneaky exercise. Just start walking.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice, but I would consider not doing that until the papers are signed as whatever you put in can be partially claimed by her. I would consult with your attorney.

The HSA is a marital asset I believe. As such it’s partially hers, so if there is $ in the account you’re going to lose it either way. Plan accordingly.

Depends on the age of the kid(s). For younger ones, a week away from one parent can be really hard.

1 daughter, 8, for reference. Every other week with few exceptions. Yes, she can FaceTime if she asks and my daughter wants to as long as it’s convenient. Same rules apply for me on my off weeks. We exchange on Friday afternoon so we get to enjoy the weekend first.

Then the correct answer is, draw up something on the online legal docs site, have her agree and sign. That will be evidence in the divorce agreement. That’s what I did. Also in MD.

You can tell the truth and not badmouth your ex or get detailed or emotional about it. Simply state that “I was not the only man in our relationship” and everyone will understand without going further on about it.

Similar situation, but it’s through primary school. 2025, and my residence is considered the primary home for her district. This came about because I could afford to keep the home and wanted to make sure my little girl has a consistent experience through her primary years.

I, too, lived with an alcoholic wife. The cheating didn’t occur until sobriety and rehab though. My sympathies brother.

Even with in-tact families, kids will drift away as time and age goes by. It’s even more pronounced when you don’t see or talk to them days or weeks at a time. I understand the concept of “make the most of your time”, but I try to remember that there is value in the everyday life as well and every day can’t be Disney Land. That those mundane days are not a waste with them.

No, you should not.

As of, 2018 I think, that requirement is no longer with an uncontested divorce.

I completely understand. For me, it’s specifically her laugh. That’s what triggers me most.

It’s funny, when I read the title, before I even clicked on the post I thought “go slow”. I’m willing to bet there is a huge amount of self doubt going on in him as he likely doesn’t trust his thoughts and feelings. They’ve let him down before. Men are taught they need to be assertive, confident and, secure and we are anything but after a divorce. If you’re really into him and care about him, it’s simply patience and understanding. About all you can do.

Well, I’m 45, going through my third divorce, been a victim of infidelity in two. I didn’t know to listen to this advice. I am now. Im doing it for myself. I’m doing it for my daughter (7 this month). Your fears are normal and we all experience them. I know I do every morning and every night. I simply cannot continue to make the choices and take the actions that I have in the past as those have failed me. One is definitely getting involved with other women too soon after the separation.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
