Women have historically been involved in protests (e.g. at the outset of the French Revolution), but yes they're more conformist than men and what tips the scale at some point is always violence.

Number 7 is particularly puzzling. Radical feminism is far more far reaching and extremist than men related stuff. To be honest, in a purely materialistic view: for a repressive one party it makes way more sense to clamp down on what can rile up potential rebels (fighting age males) than trying to smother its downstream effects.

Sorry but no. It's clearly shifting from a clumsy inclusive formulation to straight up sexism. I don't know how you can come to your conclusion.

There has been a steady Anglicization of the noncommunist left in Italy since the early 2010s and these are the birds coming home to roost (PD means "Democratic Party"). This is a bill proposal from the left.

I don't see how healthy masculinity is an action by a man to only help a women I don't remember any representative laundry list but in lib feminist spaces this stuff was generally brought up along with "positive role models". Again no laundry list, but aside from the madness of it, they ended up pointing to... Tim Waltz. Which is what you'd expect if your goal is having only pushovers around.

The point is painting the critic as essentially an abuser/exploiter/whatever boogeyman supporter to deter criticism and draw in the mob.

Great. I would change 16 into "Scorching", as stapling an over the top inference to any criticism ("divorce is slanted against men" "so you want to trap women in abusive relationships?"). Performative outrage IMO doesn't capture it as well. I would also add - Moral pedestaling: they do a lot of work by considering their assumptions as morally unquestionable. - "How about me?": turning every issue into their pet peeve, no matter how weakly linked

What OP's girlfriend is doing feels awfully similar to "splitting". There are a chilling amount of similarities between feminist operating methods and BPD. Splitting, projection, gross entitlement, absolute lack of accountability, "how about me", constantly varying rule setting, systemic double standards, constant need of validation from the counterpart, and the list can go on. This is not to do armchair diagnosis, but to point that there are near perfect parallelism and consistently mirrored pa…

men frequently engage in detailed sex gossip that's degrading and objectifying to women In my experience it's usually "give an aesthetic opinion on woman X", but actual sex is rarely discussed. Very often relationships are kept private.

Unless you can explain exactly why you think that what feminists say shouldn'tbe taken at face value, I don't think that's a valid excuse I was replying to a comment that said "look at what they do not what they say". My reply is that you should look at what they say and what it implies if you move beyond face value. For example the torrent of henpecking toward male behavior in aggregate reads more as petty control for its own sake instead of grievances toward specific patterns.

A funny not so funny example: women tend to have worse outcomes with heart attacks. What is a very striking difference? Women wait multiple times as much before seeking medical attention (I mean something like 48 vs 14 hours). You don't see this discussed but then you see "women's heart attacks are 50% more likely to be dismissed as anxiety" (50% of how much?).

only slightly more likely to be killed by their partner than to be struck by lightning In Italy about the same number of people die picking mushrooms (40-50) as do women by crimes of passion strictly defined (excluding familywide massacre suicides, murders of terminally ill wives or son-mother killings). The reason is that those murders correlate strongly with general murders and Italy has a super low murder rate.

What strikes me more is that Fox News will tell ~1% of the population to get a job and stop doing drugs, which are platitudes if you want but are actually useful to the end goal, while feminists will tell 10-15% of the population (20-30% of the relevant cohort) either that they shouldn't even dare to think it's a problem to notice, or give outright counterproductive "advice"…

We have data and while women are more exposed to harassment it's not a gulf so large as to be hard to grasp, it's like 50% more without adjusting for the different definitions of harassment that men have. That's said, it's likely that women are more exposed to low level actions, but then you have also to weigh in if there's different thresholds of sensitivity. Men can be incredibly ignorant of that because most of us simply dont experience it Yeah like bullying, something never experienced. Some people project their hostility onto others and then use guilt and shame to pressure them into internalizing it It's the second part that is unique among political movements. That said, I'd add that a lot of gender discourse cliches and priors really reek of projection - which is in fact a label that I do not like that much because it's often unfalsifiable.

Yeah let's keep it festering a little more, maybe it'll solve by itself.

One important issue is that, as noted in the article, a lot of "prejudicing" in the above case is done via insinuations, exaggerations, one sided narratives, systematic delegitimization of opposing narratives and sheer repetition. This is particularly important because political speech and women themselves tend to be much less direct in arguing and instead tend to use more circuitous means. Doubly so when there's the other side of the coin, which is a very aggressive policing, framed in heavily …

Given the generally worse female mental health and much worse screen addiction it's just plain lies to shore up support for his preferred social group according to his priors. Classic stuff.

This stuff will work for people outside the ideological fence but won't for those inside. I am not well versed in LW mental processes but from what I've seen they're remarkably refractory to change.

If your goal is to argument with LW folks, I already know their answer: they'll say you are weird for obsessively keeping the database and move on.

Now keep in mind that the engine behind modern gender studies is standpoint theory, so these terms are normative by design [...] because the goal of the framework is to redistribute power, not to study it objectively. I think a very underrated and effective action to take is to unveil the theoretical assumption and mechanisms of this stuff. You cannot write a more damning intellectual condemnation just by describing them.

Reddit comments are not an important priority in my life. It's so unimportant Lmao instead of complaining about other people If an issue is downstream of widespread beliefs that lead to societywide negative reinforcement you get nothing by "focusing on making things better".

That's a collection of reported percentages from involved professionals (prosecutors, psychologists, child neuropsychiatrists, criminologists, etc). Yes I'm sure it says false. Warning, PDF https://share.google/FCubuTCkHmHu5Hj0Y

I remembered incorrectly. The stat was that 70 to 95% of violence allegations during separations are false.

I suspect the real figure is much higher I remember an Italian parliament inquiry that said that almost half (40% IIRC) of partner accusations (don't remember the exact category) turn out to not reach the bar for conviction.

They also get unreasonably squishy on the specific point, even if they should be simply against it for pacifist/nonmilitarism reasons.

It seems to me that, broadly speaking, societally and culturally men have always pedestalised and cherished women I'd say that women have always been seen more to be protected, but not always pedestalised. "Buon cavallo, e mal cavallo vuole sprone, buona femmina, e mala femmina vuol bastone" (Good horse and bad horse needs spurs, good woman and bad woman needs stick, a very old saying) In general I'm more puzzled as to why seemingly reasonable (and a bit traditionally sexist) politicians got ent…

An hardwired preference for women is hard to reconcile with the very fast changes in law and social norms during the 70s. This kind of hardwired stuff tends to pop constantly across history while that change has been really abrupt, sort of like the explosion of presidential systems after the American independence.

That’s it. Mostly everything else circles that That's quite at odd with the extra fast turn things took around the 70s.
