I think you're on to something with loving yourself first. We're all messed up in some ways (or in many ways) and need to love ourselves just as we are. You have gifts to give to the world/to people around you. This one might be controversial because religion/god talk tends to be... but something I've been doing recently is praying. Haven't done this since a long time ago and fuck if it ain't working! I've never been one to push that kind of thing but after these past few months of what I've exp…

If you imagine looking back on this moment in 5 years, what would your future self advise you to do? I feel for you, with that much work, stress and lack of sleep etc. but I also tend to be someone who would rather pursue a "calling" rather than take the easier route of a safer/secure job. I'd say go with what lights you up the most - but in the end I think it's a question only you can answer.

The fact that you've gone through so many challenges and faced so many tragedies in your life and are still able to reach out here and seek support and share your story tells me that you have a lot of strength in you. And I bet that inner strength is a real gift to your brother and can be a gift to other people who are facing major challenges in their lives. Having gone through all that, it makes sense that your emotions will overwhelm you at times. That's more loss than most people face. And th…

Sending you good thoughts man. Sounds like a really hard time. I hope you can find trust that all will work out well in the end, whether it's together or going your separate ways. To be honest, I can't imagine how difficult it must be. Just here to say that the pain will pass and life will return to normal/awesome/happy in the future. I'm sending you prayers and supportive thoughts.

Thanks man. As much as this sucks I've got a little spark of excitement about this opportunity for growth, self improvement and exploring new ways of finding happiness.

Thanks for this response, for the straight talk and the compassion. I know people handle breakups in different ways and she has a right to be cold, distant or not want to talk. I'm giving her that space - she knows how to reach me if she feels like talking. Posting on here and getting these responses has really helped with the loneliness from not talking with her anymore and helped with processing and moving through the emotions. Glad I found this group.

Thanks for this response. I find myself terrified of being single...but you're right that it's the feeling of being inadequate that is worse than the loneliness. Deep down I know I'm worthy of happiness and partnership and so I'll just try to bring that to the surface and embody that. And just trust in this great unfolding of life.

This does help a lot. Thank you. I think going through a break up is always a time of self reflection and looking at how one can be better in the future.. but you're right, it's not about putting yourself down. I've been doing that too much and kind of internalizing some of the things she said as she was leaving (things she said from a place of hurt and frustration). Thank you!

Thanks man, I very much agree about prioritizing friendships - and how that can serve as a foundation in life and for a healthy relationship. Over the past few months I've been trying to do this and now have some activity buddies who could turn into closer friends over time. Appreciate your response.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
