Oh man, I’m so sorry to hear this, this must be a horrible situation. Honestly it’s like a glimpse into my own future as I have a 5yo son, divorced his mother when he was 2, I’m currently remarried and new wife pregnant. He do 50/50 custody and I’ve always been the parent who cares for him more, pays for all his schooling, insurance, after school activities and spends quality time with him. When he’s at his mothers house, she lets him watch unlimited tv, feeds him junk and lets him boss her and …

Convinced most women these days have no idea how to cook or clean or run a house. There also is this myth of “man flu” where in my experience, a woman with a slight headache or runny nose will be in bed for weeks and a man with run after her. If a man is sick, he just gets on with it. All married men I know are working full time then coming home to do all the parenting. Women are lazy and milking it these days

End the relationship today, if you haven't already. Seek therapy to establish whether you have underlying issues that attract you to the wrong kind of partner. Get your shit together before even thinking about dating again. Set clear boundaries from day 1 with any new partner, especially about your child. Don't introduce your child to any new partner until you are at least engaged, and have been together exclusively for minimum 6 months.

I honestly could’ve written this about me. My first wife was horrible to me and all that I did for her. I’m about to marry and start a family with my partner and she and I have both been through the mill in our first marriages that from date 1 we talked about serious issues and our boundaries and expectations. Basically have done all the things they teach you in relationship counselling from day 1. We communicate our thoughts and fears calmly and in an adult fashion, we have taken trips together…

I basically married, in my opinion, one of the most difficult women in the world to be around. From observing other people’s wives and girlfriends, mine was by far the most challenging to be with. After divorce from her, I’m bulletproof. Other women I’ve met have been a breeze in comparison, and also I’m so battle hardened that my boundaries are like granite thick walls that I move for no one! I see it as a good thing almost that I experienced such good “training” so now I’m prepared for anythin…

My ex is/was exactly the same. The only time when she admits she is/was wrong is when she had a total meltdown and then plays the victim so that I can’t give her shit for her previous behaviour no matter how abusive or aggressive it was.

Yep same. Although this year I genuinely forgot, so she got nothing apart from a happy birthday text that was tacked onto the end of a text about child care anyway. She didn’t complain. In future once my child can read and write, I’ll get him to write her a card and give a token box of chocolates, depending on if she’s being civil, it’s a lottery on that

I’m 18 months separated, 12 months living apart, 6 months divorced. Share custody 50/50 for our 3yo child. I offered her nothing. She asked for 30% of my salary. We eventually settled on 15%. We did it mostly ourselves as lawyers were costing $625 USD per hour. I could’ve negotiated lower, but I wanted to get it across the line quickly as I knew I was due for a salary raise and didn’t want her getting any more than she wanted. Plus by doing it ourselves it puts a huge mental strain on you as you…

Just the relentless back and forth of demands and drawing up custody and financial agreement. Couldn’t talk to her face to face or directly even by email as it descended into fighting, so used a mediator(mutual friend) until that went pear shaped. So had to carry on drawing battle lines and thrashing out an agreement that didnt financial ruin me or take away my kid from me. This is to avoid doing it through a lawyer/courts because they were charging $700 an hour. So we both knew it was financial…

Can confirm. I was separated and thought the divorce was going to be smooth and amicable, so I thought I was safe to date. Got into a relationship with a lovely woman. As soon as ex started making demands and lawyers got involved my world fell apart and I realised I had only enough capacity for my job, my kid, and my divorce. The only other thing I was capable of doing was lying down on the couch and staring at the ceiling. I knew gf had to go, as I couldn’t expect her to wait for my divorce to …

Same. I looked at the cost to fight and it was more than what I was fighting about. Not to mention the mental health boost I’ve gotten since I acquiesced to a few demands. It’s only money, I can earn it back. She doesn’t deserve it, but I definitely deserve some peace and closure in my life

I just came back from breakfast with a friend and his girlfriend. Throughout the whole breakfast she corrected him when he was telling me a story, she would move his arm from his face if he was holding it a certain way and generally didn’t really leave him alone! This is a girlfriend who is otherwise a lovely person who I get on with when I see her, but it just kinda cemented home how much I like not being under someone else’s influence or control. I rarely see any man who is happy with his rela…

I put on weight as I was miserable sitting alone in my apartment without my kid. Doing 50% custody it was like my life was on pause when I didn’t see my kid then resumed when I have him

Love this, looks brutal! By chins do they mean body weight chin ups? Like 100 chin ups from day 1?! Can these be substituted for 100 pull ups? I reckon I could do about 10 pull ups. No idea how I would do 100! Inspiring workout though thanks

While not as extreme as your story, my story is somewhat similar. You’re not pathetic, you just have issues that can be dealt with to stop you going through this again and to make yourself the best version of you that you can. I’m sorry all this happened to you, I honestly know how it feels to be under the spell of such a woman. Try and distance yourself from her permanently, and the seek some professional help. Good luck

Remember that she is a child. You are a man. There are literally millions of hot women in the world. Women might be the gatekeepers for having sex, but you as a man and all that you can provide and the strength that you have, you are the gatekeeper for a relationship. Don’t stress about some guy that is just looking for sex, you’ll be meeting girls in no time. Beauty is actually not a rare commodity. Meeting a decent and loving woman is the rarity. Do not seek women. Become the best version of y…

Sorry for your pain bro! I’m in the middle of it just now but it does get easier, even if it’s expensive! For example just today me and my stbxw were in our lawyers office and watching our female lawyer completely shut down my ex’s narratives and fantasies about her entitlements after me trying to tell her for months and getting abused was one of the funniest things I’ve ever witnessed and I don’t even mind what it cost, 100% would do again. “I’m entitled to this….” “no you’re not” And the best …

I really like it. Gives the ladies a chance to open. They obviously get thousands of likes, so to be selected is a nice feeling. I admit though, that I use those apps “properly”. Meaning I only swipe on someone whom I’m fairly confident that I’ll like and want to go on a date. I once paid for a feature that boosted my profile for 1 hour and put it on top of the stack but in that hour of swiping, I didn’t actually see anyone who I “liked” so pretty pointless really! I was on it for about 3-4 week…

I found that as a 41yo in decent shape, it’s not difficult finding an attractive woman on bumble in their mid 30’s. The problem is, pretty much all of them are looking for marriage and sometimes kids. Not to disparage them, as it’s understandable, but it may not be what you’re looking for? To find folk for short time fun or just hook ups, then yes, most men in their late 30’s onwards are going to struggle, unless they are top 10% attractiveness and/or wealthy/influential. No point in dwelling on…

I found myself in the same boat, and I’m trying my best to get myself out of it. I recently paid a quite substantial amount of money joining a 12 week tailored fitness and diet programme. It hasn’t taught me anything I didn’t already know, but at least I’m accountable to someone else who will kick my ass if I slack off. Plus after spending the money, I’m loath to just let my old habits creep back in. I try EVERY DAY to maintain focus, and not let the demons keep my on the couch and locked away f…

I was doing fine for the last 11 months when we lived separately, shared custody 50/50 that fit in my work schedule, and I paid her housing and bills 6 months in advance so she wasn’t asking for money. I stupidly even thought I could have a new relationship and met a wonderful girl. That all changed last month when ex finally got round to responding to settlement terms. I was shocked at how much money she was demanding and also the custody arrangements. It shook me so much, I realised I couldn’t…

She got drunk and aggressive at my friend(and colleague)’s birthday party on a boat. She then verbally abused and humiliated me in a taxi with 7 other people watching in disbelief. These people included my friend, his wife, his dad, my old college friend whom I hadn’t seen in 15 years, and a few of my new colleagues who had never met me or her. She stayed out to party with them, even though they all despised her. I was so ashamed, I just gave her her purse and keys then went home. I barricaded t…

I totally get it mate. While mine never cooked for me, she did keep an eye on what I ate and was quick to tell me when I was eating crap and also looking fat. I found the freedom I got when I moved out was good in some ways and really bad in others. Only being accountable to yourself is a tricky one if you’re as undisciplined as I am. I have just paid a lot of money for a 12 week personal trainer and nutrition coach. Not because I don’t know what I’m doing, but because if I try do it on my own, …

Almost exactly the same boat mate. My ex was a huge drain on my mental health. Going through divorce now and it’s really taking it’s toll. Ironically me moving out has forced her to become a good mother. When we all lived together, I did everything for my son while she just lived at work and when she wasn’t working, she got drunk and aggressive. I was like a housewife in the 1950s! Except I was also the main breadwinner, so I was basically everything and she was just like a stereotypical deadbea…

I’m currently in a 50/50 custody split. I work a 10 day repeating work schedule which encompasses early mornings, late evenings, and nightshifts. I get 4 days off though after working the first 6 days. So I instigated 5 nights with her, 5 nights with me. I get my 3yo son when I’m on nights and my first 3 days off, so I’m around the whole time he’s awake for 5 days straight(I have a nanny that works in the mornings after my nightshift if he’s not at nursery). At first it was rough not seeing him …

She’s already guilting me into saying that I shouldn’t be even talking about money, and I should only be concerned about the well being of her and the baby. She claims she will move out but I find it hard to believe, and even harder to believe once the baby comes and she realises how much work it’s going to be. I work shift work so I’m already thinking I’ll need an au pair to help me to do 50/50 custody. There’s no way I could afford to pay the mortgage, top up the other mortgage, pay her child …

You are talking a lot of sense, and I know I should consult a lawyer. I also know that once I do, she is going to erupt like Vesuvius and it’s going to be war. We are living in peace now and I’m not sure I want war, especially as she’s pregnant and I don’t want to have to miss out of the birth of my child. We have no family in this country as we both arrived from overseas. There’s a total ban on foreigners coming into this country for at least another year so it’s really just us, As much as I di…

Thanks, I’m in Australia. Here you have to be separated for a year before you can file for divorce. It’s like we are having a game of chicken really, we know divorce is going to cost a lot and she’s insisting she wants us to do it amicably, but after today it’s obvious that we are going to need a lawyer to reach agreements about money. She’s making it out that I’m being petty, but it’s easy for her to say that because she’s the lower earner, with fewer assets and less to lose, so whatever happen…

Yeah that’s my thinking too. That’s why I want to sell our place now, and she can have half the equity to put into her investment property, then take me off that loan so I’m not on the hook for the mortgage payments. My issue with all this is that, I don’t want my unborn child to suffer with her as a single parent when it’s born. She is going to be completely out her depth when the baby is born, and I know she won’t be able to cope hardly with me around, let alone if we live apart. We decided to…

Are those figures non negotiable? I’m not from the USA, but I’m about to start going through a divorce in the next year or so. How can a judge, knowing what you earn, enforce those figures, knowing that it’ll leave you destitute? Why can’t she get a job? That’s ridiculous

I once had to leave the barbers half way through a hair cut and run across town to go get my car and pick her up from work because she was feeling faint or having bad anxiety.

Thanks for your reply. Her classic move is to decide on something and if I disagree, she’ll dig her heels in and basically just shout and argue loudest into getting her way. I acquiesce to stop world war 3 happening, then when she’s later proved wrong, she says, well you need to be more of a man and stick up for yourself! Came home about a week after we found out she was pregnant and she’s sitting on the couch crying saying, she doesn’t want any of it, baby, dog(we have a puppy), house, work, an…

Thanks a lot for your reply. She has always shown huge swings in personality, and I’ve had to be there for them all. She has regularly seen psychologists, and although one of them said she wasn’t bipolar, but I’m not convinced. The more I think about it, the things I’ve been subjected to over the years can only be described as bullying, emotional and physical abuse, and passive aggressiveness. She has serious issues with anger and cannot control her temper. We are seeing a therapist on 25th whic…

My wife and I stopped speaking on Saturday night. We’ve had a rocky last 4 years together, married 9 months. I felt she wasn’t taking social distancing seriously as the country was going into lockdown. This morning she told me she’d invited round 3 of her girlfriends to drink and celebrate some bullshit occasion. I was beyond angry. She just doesn’t give a fuck about the well-being of other people. I am honestly embarrassed. I was on the phone to my mum and my mum heard her friends in the backgr…

I’m in the same boat too. 4 year relationship, not yet married a year. I can’t continue in a relationship that every few weeks just descends into huge fights. I’m sleeping in the spare bedroom. I’m lucky that I work shifts(with nearly unlimited overtime)so can pretty much avoid ex as much as I need to. Been offered a job in a different country that is actually a closer country to my family than the one I live in now. Still very raw, but we want to keep things as cordial as possible when it comes…
