It was mutual after working on things for 2 years. I actually filed, which I was glad I did. I was able to move things along and finish the process. She would have not pushed it at all.

I believe she is lonely, she has never really had many friends except for me in the early years. We were married 26 years and I would say the first 20 were good but I would not take her back at this point.

I should have clarified, no kids so that’s not an issue.

That’s what I’ve found for most of my friends and family. They don’t want all the details just saying they are here for me. It’s just disappointing that my stbex is doing this. It seems like it’s to get attention. I think I will let it go and if it becomes an issue with my friend after the dust settles I will address it then. Thanks

That was my thought and that’s what I told her!

Thanks for the advice. We have 1 mutual friend that will likely be a double agent, one of my close friends (guy). Not sure how that will work out in the long run. I’m hesitant to share much with him since I am sure it will get back to her but at this point it shouldn’t matter.

About a week after the mediation, before everything was finalized. We still lived in the same house for another month. It was mostly amicable.

She told me she wanted to grow old with her sister and not really me. Also when I found out she was talking / texting another male (20 yrs younger) (son of a girl friend of hers of 4-5 months) she told me while with our therapist that she would choose her new girl friend over me.

Wow, this was enlightening. I appreciate the info. I’m going through the divorce now, hoping it will be final soon after the new year. It’s been a dead bedroom for about 2 years and I am starving for sex, keep wanting to hook up with someone once it’s final but I can understand waiting and getting my head right first. Thanks for the post. Plan to save it and reread it occasionally to remind me of why I should wait.

Going through the divorce process now and my stbx said the same thing, wanted to still be friends and talk. I didn’t say too much but deep down I don’t believe I will call her etc. I am trying to “keep the peace” until it’s over since we are still living under the same roof. She plans to move several hours away so won’t “run” into her. I don’t think you’re the asshole at all.

I have wondered about that. I’m about there, getting ready to pull the trigger

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
