The increasingly harsh sentences aren't entirely the result of lobbying from the prison industry. Think of it this way: Let's assume no-fault divorce has been done away with (I still don't necessarily agree with this, but whatever). In this scenario, adultery is a way for the marriage contract to be broken. The adulterer is -- wait for it -- at fault for breaking the contract and would get the bad end of the deal in the divorce, which is punishment enough. Wanted to add that journalists have lots of rules about ordering information in a story, and if anything the clause about the unidentified woman coming at the end of the list indicates it's of lesser importance. Probably due to the woman being the still-unidentified victim (note how they don't even know for sure that she's a woman as of the writing of the article).
