Just a reference to boxing, you may have lost the round but the fight isn't over yet. Realistically regarding your situations, it's a matter of chemistry, luck, and timing. Having been there myself, windows open and close all the time. They could have moved on, met someone else, changed their opinion, any number of things. I will say, a) attraction is hard to kill (aka you still have a shot however small) and b) you won't know until you try (I don't mean grand gestures, just movement/escalation …

Howdy! You seem very well-written and insightful. I was hoping if I could perhaps poke your brain on similar situations, I think it would prove useful to compare notes and get someone's unbiased perspective. Although this is an old post, thought I'd check to see if you'd still be willing to give your best guess(es). Lmk and I'll send a pm Thanks!

"I think Asian girls are definelty more attracted to me, but I would love to get with a white girl sometime and I know my success will be much lower with white girls than asians, and also if they’re like a 9 or 10 it will be much much harder." So I used to be in a similar boat. For most of my life I dated 90% asian girls and I thought like you did, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. After gaining a lot of life experience, the paradigm explanation just boils down to comfort and expectation.…

1 I've been of the mindset that women generally don't like to be approached in the gym. I take lifting very seriously and tend to zone in as well so I wouldn't necessarily want to be bothered. The reality is this: the issue is complicated and people often over-simplify it. A lot of socially awkward guys try to approach girls anywhere, including the gym, and make it awkward. The common response to this is easily people over simplifying and saying you just shouldn't approach at the gym. The realit…

other girls in the gym will think that girl knows you and likes you, how would they know differently when they see you having a fun convo? 1) If they've seen you and/or the other person before, they can tell who knows each other and who doesn't. 2) You can also kind of tell by how people interact if they know each other or not/are they flirting. 3) I don't know why Im responding at all because I pretty much agree with you. Tbh, I think that he probably already has. Some people go 0 to 100, and he doesn't seem like he's one of those. Most likely, he has taken small steps to show you that he's interested but you maybe didn't give him the green light. That's why courtship is a bit like a dance; he maybe tried dancing with you a few times and you didn't get it or reciprocate so he either stopped or slowed down. Also, other things happen that we aren't aware of, like how you said there was a rumor about you playing for…

So start telling yourself "attractive women everywhere constantly send me choosing signals". Repeat that mantra to yourself every day several times a day. It will start attuning your brain to look for signals. When you see one, go over but start small. Test for interest. Make small talk. Stuff like, hey so what do you recommend at this restaurant, what crazy weather we've had lately, how is your Friday going, etc. Is she open to that or is she giving you one word answers? What context are u talking about here? As in if you're already friends, or know each other socially, what you're saying makes sense. But if it's some random person you see somewhere, either a one-off or a semi-regular basis like the gym etc, you're saying it's best to just ask them out on a date before building rapport or testing the waters? Sorry if I'm being tedious, I'm generally a slow builder when it comes to the flirtation game and I'm curious if maybe I need to ramp up the pace. I feel like there's a missing step here. In between meeting someone for the first time and asking a girl out, there's quite a gap of building connection, flirting, whatever. Isn't it an oversimplification to jump towards asking someone out? It's like baking, you don't have to do anything to the dough, to the ingredients, you guys just take the bread out of the oven?!?!

I can tell almost instantly whether there is attraction on her part or not. please explain your jedi powers good sir! And I also have been finding attraction is not the same thing as direct interest. Well....... what do look for in yourself? Can you genuinely and confidently answer that question? If yes, well then tell us what do you look for? If not, why don't you know it? To the first part of the question, I know what I look for in myself. I try very hard to be someone I would date. Second part of that question, I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for in a partner because a) I haven't met a dating candidate who is wholly similar and b) I've dated girls who were quite different from each ot…

You heard music that you liked and other tracks that you didn’t, but you only figured this out by listening in the first place. It’s the same thing with girls; as you date and get to know more women, you start to develop your taste and better understand your wants and needs. First off, great post! Anyhoo, in reference to the music analogy, what if in trying different types of music you found out that you actually have quite a diverse taste? Start searching for the values you want, not something superficial. How do you go about this with accuracy? I've attempted this ever since I started dating, even in high school. But as I get older, it seems these snap judgements about people's values and characters are often inaccurate. Also, in the early stages of dating, people are much more apt to hide or alter their personality to fit with yours, especially if they like you. Sometimes I don't know if I'm reading into what I want to see, if I…

Trust what you know you need to do, not what you want to do. You're not alone in this, it just is what it is. People get away with less, like in any profession you can do the job sloppily or take shortcuts. But they will always have a cost.

Ask what brought them to the venue. Make conversation, show that you're having a good time/enjoying yourself. If you've been talking or dancing for awhile, ask them if they want to go outside for some fresh air. Or if you're outside, say you're feeling like dancing and invite them to go in, or find you inside. I feel ya on that one. Don't have a great answer as I'm figuring it out myself. Lot of interesting points but my first question is: "12 - Her friends know who you are" If there's a social group, how do you know which one? If you keep trying it'll happen for you. I had an ex who was like that, in her group of friends some of them were beauty pageant winners and she always considered them the "pretty" ones. What's confusing is that they're all different, depends on the girl tbh. The most common thing is probably proximity; I'd say that + at least one other signal is a good start. And by proximity, I mean of her own design, not because she's forced to be next to you or something. Btw, saying the girl makes eye contact is about as clear as me saying I spoke to someone. The peoples of the internet weren't there to see what that eye contact was like. Even then, not everyone can convey the same messages…

" you will know when a woman is into you." What's true for you isn't true for everyone. You might be imagining someone who is overly persistent. But on the flip side, there are countless girls who are crushing on some guy and both of them are opting on the safe side of "leave her tf alone".

Could you elaborate on what you mean by "quality"? And if game means everything, then are you saying the "sum value " of a woman = the "sum value" of the man? Also, let's say at a given time, there is more than one woman in the "attract/meet/date", there is a spectrum of quality there. Is the "quality" the mode, the mean, or the median, or the best one, or the worst one, or the one you end up with? Sorry if it seems a bunch of tedium, it's just I've seen some variation of this statement before a…

1st question, yes. 2nd question, most of the time I wouldn't and most other guys wouldn't as well. Setting is also important, where is this? Also, are you doing anything else to convey your interest? If you're too shy for eye contact, would talking to him be better or worse? Maybe try writing a note and giving it to him? Something simple like, "call me (phone number)" or "you're cute".

From my experience, those places are less than optimal. Most people go there to be with friends although both places usually have a bar area. The predominant reason is that it's awkward to talk to more than one girl is that I don't want the other girl to feel bad. 1.) I want to only flirt with the girl I'm interested in. 2.) Girls/people are already insecure and if someone comes up to talk to you because they find you attractive, your friend might feel bad about herself. From my perspective, this is common because not only have I seen it happen but being friends with guys you see the same thing happen to them. (There are the have's an…

Last sentence basically refers to self-defeating unviable long-term strategies. If you really want a 9/10, when you get one you will treat these women in a way that will not maintain attraction over time (clingy, possessive, jealous, put on a pedestal, needy, insecure, etc). If you end up dating someone who isn't a 9/10, you won't treat them with the love and affection they deserve because you wrongly think that a 9/10 is your "ideal" woman, not the one in front of you. YMMV, this is way down th…

How's your eye contact and/or banter game? The age difference is not a big deal if you generate attraction. And stop building up these 9s or 10s, if you get into a relationship, it will fuck with how you treat the other party.

Gyms and coffee shops as those are the most regular places I frequent (typically not for the purpose of meeting people). But in terms of success per visit, night venues are definitely the biggest return. Just show up, have fun, and inevitably good vibes will present opportunities. No true conversation opener, usually just something relevant to the situation. It's fine to ask a boring, basic question; just spin off of the response in a fun way to build momentum.

Mentally stimulating conversation is rare and even rarer in romantic relationships. The way I see it, no one person is supposed to fulfill all your needs. Work, friends, or hobbies, are all more common avenues to pursue "deeper" discussions. Long term who knows, perhaps finding a partner who can relate to you on a intellectual level will provide more satisfaction. Just from my anecdotal experience, this is a much rarer bridge to build upon than emotional or physical rapport.

You sound a bit like my friend. I'll give you a few pointers on what worked for him. A) identify the women who are interested in your attributes. Some women like people who are decisive, "leaders", and have their shit together. Necro'ing an old comment but I had a question about this, "If data tells you you’re not, which is what it’s currently telling you, how will you take it?" Whats the data for or against? Hey 👋 I'm about 4 days late to the party but I have a question for those of you who do this. The waiting for the text, the dopamine rush when you see her name, those are the things your older self has the wisdom to see how it may have worked against your favor when you were younger. You're older and wiser. Be confident, she likes you and wants to see you, don't overthink about settling down and making things official. You are two grown ass h…

"The art is being receptive to them, noticing them in the herd. Then when the eyes meet and the smiles start, it's time to tempt her in." Care to elaborate? Also, there are times when you meet people who are either taken, or just want validation, but they act attracted. How can you separate the difference between people who are genuinely interested and people who just enjoy flirting with you or getting your attention?

Both, I'd appreciate as in-depth a response you're willing to give. I'm always looking to see how my own experiences and analysis line up with others. I would say I have difficulty with telling what's genuine, especially in matters of courtship where interested parties usually fake/alter/lie certain things about themselves to make the best impression. Also as a tangential sub point, how different reactions can have different implications, ie. Shyness vs submissiveness vs sexual tension vs intimi…

Wrong. Your experience tells you this is a fact of life. Imagine a scientist with a hypothesis that your height disqualifies you in the eyes of women. Would he just interview you and take your word as fact? Oh, studies done guys, we have all the data we need! You have attribution error, the dealbreaker isn't your height, it's something else you're unaware of. It sounds like you're young so I'm sure you must have seen people around your height at your school(s) who date pretty girls.

Yes. I personally don't think I look very good but I attract a lot of above average women for some reason, even those ones that people stare at when they enter a room. There's always going to be some subset of women who find something about you unattractive, but I can guarantee you that height is not the deal-breaker you make it out to be. Especially considering there are lots of cute girls who are shorter than you, and lots of times girls will still be down if they're only slightly taller. Heig…

Lot of ways to hit the target, here are a couple options: When you see him doing a certain exercise, ask him if he can teach you how to do it. You can say you're new, or you don't know how to adjust the squat rack, or you want to learn how to stretch, yada yada yada. Essentially, just ask him for help or pointers on gym related issues. Wear headphones to the gym. Work out and choose a station/area nearby him and follow him. (Yes its stalkerish but guys and girls both do this anyways, its a gym s…

Go out to lunch just the two of you, make it a more common occurrence. Look at him, laugh and smile alot. Act fun and get your flirty out of the way when you two are alone so you can act more proper back at work. Invite him to drink or a night activity after work on a Friday. Once again, better to not involve any coworkers. Just use your body language/behavior to flirt as much as possible. Easy way to give it without giving it up is push and pull. Yes, attraction is doesn't dissipate easily. I knew a girl back from my college days and we just kept in touch sparsely through texting convos once in awhile. We hung out maybe once a year but one of us was always dating someone else. Obviously she and I liked other people in between, but that only ever meant we didn't act on our attraction. Old flings that I run into, it's a common trend that it's not so much the feelings that die, but more so the logistics of circumstance.

If you're friends and you flirt alot and there's already feelings between you two, don't stress my man! Just keep in contact and keep the flirt game strong. Show her that you maintain interest but also that your life doesn't revolve around her. You already are the primary front runner. It's possible she's fickle but more than likely it's just your insecurity/inexperience that makes you doubt if she'll still like you. I agree with your earlier point but wanted to clarify on this statement, "Also, there is NO reason why older women should find attractiveness attractive and younger women not." Just a possibility, there could be a variance in behavior corresponding to age. I've noticed that as humans, many of us share the same physiological reactions when we find someone attractive but social conditioning/culture can greatly affect how we show it. Age is another factor that could affect our expression of attract…

5'7 Asian dude I no longer believe race to be a determining factor in attraction between two people. *As other reddit users have stated, you WILL face issues from friends and family (both yours and hers) and studies have shown that interracial couples do face a lot of external pressures. On paper, being short and Asian would according to many people be considered undesirable traits. Alrighty you make a great case for the woman's perspective. The answer is a little bit of both. Yes you want to leave people alone if you're bothering them. But you also might be giving up too easily. Sometimes girls will react in certain unreceptive ways and we end up ejecting ourselves before they've given their rejection. I'll give two short examples. I went to talk to this girl I sparsely chit chat with at the gym. She had her phone out and kept staring at her phone while we were talking. HUGE red flag, so I left thinking she was done with me. Personally, I find a bit of a conundrum with encountering superficial girls. Essentially it boils down to, what does it take to get to know what someone is really like? From my perspective, there are many possible attribution errors when you first meet them and as you get to know them. How someone dresses, speaks, and carries themselves gives clues to their personality, but the world of the inner mind is a mysterious place. I often wonder if more lies beneath the surface; what if they were raise…

Is it impossible to plumb those depths? Or do we just currently lack the tools or the knowledge to do so. Tangential question here. Where does attraction come from? I've circled this idea in the past and overtime have changed my mind on what the answer was. I have a few current/competing premises and I have yet to clear out which parts are wrong or how they fit together: It's also probable that attraction is sparked differently between people. Attraction at base seems to be established within immediate time frame of meeting someone for the first time. Women's attraction can be turned up or down over…

I believe that a lot of attraction is driven by insecurity. Having been in a similar situation as you, I think sometimes we fall for old crushes because it builds our ego in some way. That it feels like it will help us recover from the past anguish, that we really were a good match for the other person but they didn't know it yet, and a whole host of other base insecurities. I ended up choosing my version of "girl 2" and one of the reasons why is that I want to reward good behaviors. My "girl 1"…

Yes and no. There's a huge variance between girl to girl in terms of how they express interest. Experience is tricky because over time you'll find false positives and false negatives. In "general" those iois are useful, but there are quite a few exceptions. If you follow iois too rigidly, you will definitely miss out on girls who don't throw standard iois off the bat.

I think a simpler strategy than "talking about it", is to ask her out. Go old school, make it romantic. You should already know the answer, this is more of a formality. It's like asking an employee to become a partner in a firm, it should come as a celebration with some decadence.

If you don't mind me asking, how does he know you have low self esteem? Specifically what behaviors manifest that would make him think/reinforce the image that you have low self esteem? Low self esteem alone isn't the problem for him, it would be how you act because of that self esteem that he makes an emotional memory. It turns the sentiment from, "everyone's got problems," to, "that girl is a problem."

Depends on how the symptoms of low self esteem manifest. There are a lot of traps here such as devaluing people who care about you (subconsciously your mind may tell you that if you aren't worth much and your s/o thinks you are, they might be even lower than you). Or picking fights to "see how much they love you". Etc etc. We all have different flaws and it's really up to you to learn and manage them. I went by something like this but then found that some personality types really differ and things that I had put on the "NO" checklist, certain women did these things while being interested. Or at the end of the day you use your "gut" or intuition to discern?

Most of "attraction" is really out of our hands, but we need confidence to avoid unintentionally presenting a less attractive version of ourselves. Please do elaborate good sir, I've been trying to get to the root of of it myself and have been kind of spinning in circles ;) BTW I'll say this every time, thanks for all your posts Mr. banthas

are you sure he wasn't experiencing an episode of histocompatability? It's when your body recognizes someone on an instinctual level as a good mate/match for you. Its happened to me a few times before and it really differs from just finding someone attractive. It is not the end all be all, but after experiencing it a few times it seems like it can be confused with the "love at first sight" concept because it happens so rarely. soure: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_histocompatibility_complex…

While I agree with visualbloom for the most part (I know a few girls like this as well), I have a small devil advocate's case. I have a friend who is very very shy, and the only way they have the courage to make any overt move towards the opposite sex is when they're drunk (or texting).

Alrighty so there is a need for understanding context. The better she knows you/the more familiar the two of you are, will change the dynamic of the IOIs. I'm gonna assume that this is a girl who you are not yet friends/very familiar and it is just some girl you happen to run into. These are some things she MIGHT do in my experience. Proximity: She will position herself somewhere she can see you. Unlike other girls, she may leave a physical barrier (object or another person) in between the two…

When you're younger your world is very small. People will be operating under the social rules of your school/community/etc. So the guys who would be available to flirt with you is a) small in number b) young so less-confident or skilled c) feels more pressure from smaller community rules (for example my younger brother would never flirt with someone outside his "clique"). When you get older your world will open up and you will start meeting men on the street, at the supermarket, in your day-to-d…

" You’re the man. You should be strong, charming, grounded, and very attractive. Platonic or not, a girl should be thrilled to have more physical contact. If not, then give them a hug or hit up the self improvement. It’s a circle of FRAME —> INTENTION —> ATTRACTIVENESS —> GAME/Self Improvemen" I think you have the right mindset for personal use. However, if you do this to girls with a boyfriend.... you're a dick.

Honestly sometimes they have other things going on in their lives that they don't tell you about. I had a similar thing before, but some other guy was telling her that I was not into her (he was saying I was into her friend). Forgive me for paraphrasing, I can't remember who said this (it was an MMA coach who read it in a book somewhere). But kickboxing can be boiled down into two things: punches and kicks. To the master, he will understand that kickboxing IS just punches and kicks. So you can see how we come full circle; where the novice thinks fighting is ju…

Shy girls are my favorite! They're much more likely to be nervous and have a harder time speaking to you. If she is "eyeballing" you, you're in (shy girls don't have as good control over their facial expressions so if her face is "static" when looking at you she is definitely checking you out, if there is a negative facial reaction then she is looking at you for the reasons you don't want). You are doing a special service out of the goodness of your heart, thank you and I'll reply later after I eat some lunch :D Okay skipping the 5 things that are enjoyable about me because I hear enough of that. Onto interesting people: 1) This girl at a coffee shop had an amazing game, kind of considering going back there to learn more from her. She had a lot of extroverted energy and just started bullshitting with me on an imaginary topic (didn't you come in here earlier? you look just like him,…

Much wisdom here; however can you elaborate why its red flag territory and not flattering? From a guy's perspective, its flattering because the dynamic is usually a man chasing a girl and the power of attraction was enough to make someone deviate from social norms? Also, most girls I know engage in light "cyberstalking" anyways....

I disagree, I've had the same thing happen but I don't have facebook on my phone, only on computer. So it can't be tracking location data =/ pretty sure most girls use social media enough to have typed in your name manually

"When you do not communicate your intentions sincerely." I played some eye-contact body-language games with this coffee shop girl and then one day started a conversation with her. Things went well, I got her name, shook her hand, and then I left. I didn't come back for a week or two because I realized I had entered into something I didn't know if I wanted to finish. Next time I came back she was very cold and pretended to not remember my name when one of the last things she had told me previousl…

Actually there was some post in this subreddit that outlined this problem (which I also have). But its about the time it takes to switch from introversion to extraversion. Basically in some study it took an average person 5-10 minutes to switch modes. You can kick yourself in the ass and attempt to approach when you're not ready and your social energy and wit won't be up to par (doesn't mean you can't do well) but you won't perform as well as you could if you were already in a socializing state.…

Being outgoing is not many people's strong suit. Plenty of men and women prefer being approached.

This is the general pattern I see for most women in my area as well, I think there is a dynamic that women give "approach invitations" (you can google this term and it'll show you a list of stuff most commonly done) and that men do the approaching. However, I have to say the success rate of giving guys social cues is going to be heavily reliant on your targets. Most guys will either be unaware of your subtle signs of interest, intimidated by someone really good looking, or in the wrong mental zo…

What's your setting? Work/nightclub/daytime strangers/social circle? What's your goal? "Seduction advice" is quite general, are you trying to get men to approach you, do you want to approach men, are you trying to approach one man? The more thought-out the question, the more targeted your responses will be. Good luck!

I don't get how everyone says no. What if she says no and you say no and the guy is just a drunken asshole. He's sad he's lonely and he wants to watch the world burn. THIS has nothing to do with the girl! This has everything to do with the guy being disrespectful. Is everyone here saying they would do fucking nothing? I mean I believe in de-escalation and stopping fights - but violence always exists as a possible solution. We are not de-fanged just yet. . . There is a line for everyone. Where yo…

people are always busy but there is always time for certain things like he has to eat dinner at some point. anyhow, one of the biggest factors that influence your next course of action is physical attraction. is he physically attracted to you? If yes, you can establish something quickly, creating a lasting memory or have him crave for more. If not, you might have to play a very long game of winning him over without scaring him off or letting him know you're attracted to him (that could make him …

You're a great source of wisdom! As a counterpoint, have you ever had the experience of initially rejecting someone and then over time they grow on you? The two girls who I've cared about the most started off this way where I wasn't interested in them initially and over them sticking around (for a few years) I got to see in them certain qualities of character I didn't appreciate at first. This makes it hard to decide moving forward because initial chemistry is so different from long-term chemist…

"because they always let me down." Such is life young one. Nobody is perfect. I remember when I was younger I would X out people who had these behaviors like too much partying, using drugs I didnt take (at the time), etc. Later in life after having done those drugs, I think, "WHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING". Nobody is perfect and the young version of me used to think that someone out there would be my perfect match. Love and life is difficult my friend, don't take it for granted. The image you hav…

have the same issue, however its worse with friends than it is strangers. Also I have a similar fear where if there is more than one eligible female in the area, if I approach one then the others who are interested will feel bad as if they are not good enough :/ however recently I have developed another perspective. Even though your friends tease you and you get rejected, that does suck. Nobody wants their mates to think they suck with girls. However on the flip side, if you do succeed, it could…

"She is working and probably does not want to be bothered." That is my assumption given no context. However, its different in person because there is always a chance there is some personal/physical connection. Most online advice says avoid working staff or people at the gym etc, but you can tell who does not want to be bothered and who is looking for something more from you. If this chick is giving you some signs that she wants to talk to you, I'd say go for it. I don't have a "best approach" as…

don't know what came first, the chicken or the egg. But going to the gym builds confidence as you get externally validated there. Do the girls notice the body (which helps) or do they notice the subtle increase in swag level when you feel confident about your body? Either way it helps and I'm probably one of the smallest, weakest guys at the gym (that goes regularly).

"As a general rule of thumb you want to approach within 5 seconds of first noticing her." Any tips/experience on a stranger you have seen a few times e.g. you go to the same gym etc? What should you do if you have already missed your 5 second window? (potentially many times) Tx bud

what standards did you develop and how did you go about determining those? " He has so many options, that he can pick and choose who he wants in his life" genuinely interested for myself as i realized my old screens/filtration system were incorrectly calibrated

there is always context; you may not understand it but someone else might see something in the details. BTW I have noticed there are different eye contact sub-cultures that develop. I also live in the Bay Area and had a buff friend tell me that guys who are REALLY muscular always look at each other to see who is bigger. I think good looking guys may have the same unspoken thing going on. Maybe fashionistas as well?
