I feel forever stuckYou are describing the future me. I have no doubts this is where I am headed. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/12/24 10:42 PM
Any success with staving off divorce by making a list of demands to radically change the marriage? You will have an easier time becoming the president of the US than getting this wish list of yours from your wife. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/12/24 12:59 AM
Need some adviceWow. Yeah, the SAHM situation is a scary thought. But at least the optimistic part of me, wants to believe that these cases are outliers. I have had very nice relationships before I got married. Made the mistake of being too spontaneous for once and it went downhill. I have the rest of my life to think about what could have been. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/11/24 12:31 AM
Need some adviceThis is good for me to know. At the moment, she hasn't gone completely rogue. And she would also prefer to come back to the US in the long run I think. But yeah, talking about it is helping me. My normal coping mechanisms have been mostly drinking too much and in general abusing my health. Never found a better outlet. I suppose reading r/Divorce_Men has plenty of stories I can relate to. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/11/24 10:02 PM
Need some adviceThat is fair. I need to just accept that my money is going to be poorly used. I have been a first hand witness to it for the last decade. No reason for any of this to change now. I take it, typically the divorce settlement would end up being 50-50 for assets acquired over the period being married + 1 year of support for her for every 3 years of marriage. Is the typical spousal support 20% of what I earn? Any ideas on how long do I have to pay child support? Let's assume that she moves back to th… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/11/24 09:55 PM
An unexpected benefit…Sounds like my current situation. Inspite of buying her a house ( > 1.5M) she constantly argues with me that cleaning it is beneath her. I only ever managed to clean on the weekends, but then she would insist, I need to take her out. All this when she did not have a job. I actually recall one conversation when I came back home from work when she insisted that going forward I don't have to worry about cleaning and she will take care of it. And I mentally went hallelujah! But she followed that up … | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/11/24 09:29 PM
Need some adviceGoing back and forth on serving abroad. She is likely to be back in another 8 months. And yes, she is in a country that is set up for reciprocal laws. You will have a very difficult time taking custody of a 9 month old from a mother who is mentally right. This is good for me to know. She is mentally fine and in her own way, doing all she can to take care of our infant. You will likely have to give her atleast 20% or your gross income plus about the same in maintenance for a few years. If she sta… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/11/24 04:48 PM
