Women are the sexual selectors, therefore inevitably more men than women are rejected and left out. Additionally, society treats male bonding with suspicion, are men are inherently less social than women, so you have an increased tendency for men to become isolated.

I've always perceived bromance as a positive rather than a pejorative. The bro prefix can be derogative (eg Bernie bro, tech bro) but those refer to the idea of bro culture (frat boys) rather than male friendships. At least that's how I see it.

Okay, but that doesn't sound like they're stigmatizing your friendship, just thinking you're gay because you don't date women and regularly hang out with the same dude.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/05/20 08:21 AM

This applies to average looking men, but half of men are below average. If you look like Shrek, no amount of showers or nice clothes will make you attractive to women.

It's not hamstering to observe that promiscuity correlates with higher rates of infidelity and divorce. Additionally, it's typically an indicator of bad judgement.

Beauty and strength aren't entirely separate concepts in male aesthetics. Sure, you don't have to be jacked, but a more masculine physique (read: muscular) is almost always more attractive to women.

This is incredibly naive. Claim 1: “normal” people simply date and get laid without ever considering strategy. Reality: even people who’ve never heard of PUA, TRP, FDS etc discuss dating strategies with their friends and family. How do you think people learn about dating? Like they learn anything else: through socialisation and the informal sharing of knowledge. I’d say I’m conflicted on the question of marriage, LTRs and MGTOW. Although I’m aware of the very real risks associated with divorce, my impression is that having a monogamous relationship with a stable partner is the best option - not just for individuals but for their children and society as a whole. Marriage is an institution worth preserving, despite its flaws.

I don’t think anyone denies that there are many valid reasons for divorce. The bigger issue is everything that comes with it: single parenthood, alimony etc
/r/PurplePillDebate15/05/20 08:16 AM

“ As she explains, part of the issue is that when divorce strikes, men and women react in different ways. Men’s relationships frequently overlap; they won’t leave one partner until they find another, so they are never really single.” Except that in reality, the majority of divorces are initiated by women, and not because the husband is unfaithful. So this is pretty much bullshit.

I think you’re describing the MGTOW fantasy, but I’d be surprised if those guys were doing that well in general. I’m not sure it’s healthy in the long run to completely avoid primary relationships.

I’m not sure I spelled it correctly, but it’s a Japanese term describing sexless men (basically incels) who remain at home and make no effort at all to meet or become intimate with women.

/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 05:01 PM

Okay, so MGTOW so are typically divorced older guys and incels can be any age but can’t get laid. My point was more that the absence of trying to attract women isn’t in itself a golden bullet for personal success.

Good for you man, but I don’t think that most incels / MGTOW (I know there’s a difference, but let’s just say guys who don’t fuck) are out there killing it because suddenly they have more drive to succeed
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 04:49 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 04:37 PM
10

Nice theory, but one of the main reasons men are driven to succeed in other areas (career, physique etc) is to increase their sexual market value. Low sex drive won’t necessarily correlate with more energy spent on worthwhile tasks.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 04:35 PM
7

Definitely, but the changing biology would also help in suppressing natural male instincts and behaviours. Edit: I am by no means suggesting that this is a good thing
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 04:33 PM

If that were true, women would only ever hook up with rich old men and ignore hot young broke dudes, but that’s not what happens.

2

Doesn’t the graph show that the ideal age of female attractiveness to men is around 23?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 04:19 PM

I would say peak attractiveness is mid 20s (research suggests this is correct)
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 04:09 PM

Hmm good point - need to distinguish between peak and wall.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 03:55 PM
3

Correct, and now you’re scaring me
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 03:37 PM
2

I guess that would be because your SMV at that point is based on your status as a provider. Perhaps I should have specified physical attractiveness.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 03:36 PM
1

Good points. So that’s 40+ for most men, right? Health issues kick in earlier if you treat your body like shit though.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 03:34 PM
1

If the Wall refers to the point where your SMV declines with each additional year rather than improves, most women hit it waaay earlier than 40. A 30 year old woman has far more options than a 40 year old.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 03:32 PM
3

Average age of first marriage for American men is 29. Let’s add a few years (say 3) for the effects to kick in. 32?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/20 03:31 PM

Surely most men acquire more wealth as they grow older? Unless they get screwed over by divorce.

I’m not complaining. Also, it’s not a choice - it’s biologically hardwired into us. Men choose mates according to indicators of genetic fitness. Ev-psych 101.

“Nice guys” are basically spineless men. “Nice girls” don’t really exist in the same way because there’s no expectation for women to be assertive or aggressive (until recently, but that’s another matter). The closest thing to a “nice girl” is an unattractive girl who is resentful about her low SMV.

Why should we finance thottery?

I’m not shaming anyone, I’m asking what the best response is to hypergamy.

Yeah, fair point. I’m not looking to demean those who opt out (I can understand why they do it).

That’s not exactly new. In the past, men grew up quicker (by necessity).

I don’t really have a problem with this. Yes, hypergamy is brutal, but it’s also a natural instinct. We know that this is how women operate. Let this be a wake up call for guys: either take the red pill and learn how to play the game or go MGTOW if you can’t handle it. But there’s nothing masculine in bitching about the fact that women view men in terms of performance - it’s just as true as how men value women sexually. Edit: to be clear, I’m not condoning this behaviour or shaming her unfortuna…

I think she was asking because she has an online presence. Most women have breasts, not all are able to monetise them.

I work at a company that makes architecture products. Only a few weeks ago I had two male influencers contact us to ask for free products in exchange for exposure. It happens.

Most people have never even heard of FlyerTalk. Instagram is a huge marketplace for advertising, and fashion and travel / hospitality are the biggest sectors. I agree that 60k followers isn’t really much but speaking generally, Instagram promotions can be profitable for both parties.

You’re 100% right. This sub can be good sometimes but is overly prone to just hating on anything a woman does

ITT: people who don’t understand that influencer marketing exists. The fact that you hate “Instagram hoes” doesn’t mean that it’s not a perfectly common business practice. Stop getting so easily offended by women using sex appeal to make money.

Not necessarily. I work at a company that has worked with influencers, and in each case they (the influencers) reached out first.

Yeah... I don’t know about this one. People do this all the time and plenty of businesses are happy to oblige them. Idk how big her following is but this isn’t necessarily “entitled woman gets shut down” as much as “business owner rejects request”.
