I was thinking about the idea of "conversational hooks" as it relates to attitude today. If you don't know, in a very simplified manner, a conversational hook is an idea or a word that you drop into a conversation that immediately creates curiosity in the person you're speaking with. I saw a video of someone explaining it who asked people to imagine actual hooks that you leave open for people to pull on. I couldn't get the image of the hooks out of my mind today when I was thinking about a parti…

I met one of my exes that way too. Though we didn't go out for very long. And every time I would reply to her, she'd send me a link to a website where she wanted me to send her money. She was a sweetheart. Always replied right away, too. Like automatically, even. Such manners!

You got downvoted but what were the expecting with a name like that?

Good game has a lot to do with how you carry yourself and behave outside of a sexual context. Maybe that's an understanding of the matter that lacks nuance but it's helped me and it's helped the people who have taught me valuable things. That's all.

You seem to have mixed feelings about this...

This is important. I mean, it's good to recognize where you need work but I always notice this attitude like the one person "fucked up" as if the other person in the duo is some American Idol judge that's just sitting there waiting to be amused. If you constantly think of yourself as performing or auditioning for affection, you'll always second guess yourself. The other person is usually just as nervous, as clueless, and as unsure of themselves. The best solution in moments like these? Confident…

I always amuse myself whenever I'm interested in things that are just too uninteresting for the club. I've been reading a ridiculous amount of philosophy of the mind so at a party the other day, I just kept getting into discussions on the nature, meaning and limitations of consciousness... The conversations are fun and I'm an outgoing guy so I can usually make people laugh about it but my problem is switching it up to escalation. It's difficult to escalate sexually when you've just gotten throug…

My question is... why didn't you drive her back to her place, man?

I'd lead with that.

The only thing I'm gonna say is... have you ever considered thumbnail pictures that don't make you look like you starred in a straight-to-DVD Matthew McConaughey vehicle from 15 years ago?

Why? When you're a celebrity, they let you do it. Just move on her like a bitch. It's presidential. Edit: I took a risk.

I always wonder about talking to people at the gym. I think I'm too anti-social with headphones on...

And then you wonder why your girlfriend doesn't wanna fuck you. Grow up and maybe you'll be more pleasant to be around. Good luck, homie.

Why are you seeking a conflict where none exists? Don't like what I said? Then move on, kid.

Honestly? For the same reason I read r/tinder despite not going on the app - I like to see what people are up to.

I'm saying this as a guy. I don't think women are any better at it. Maybe I'm just old fashioned but half the "techniques" that people preach would have been called plain rude behavior where I'm from. It's silly, all this hedging we do, like we'll find a backdoor into this shit. Everybody knows the score. "Game" implies a winner and loser - frankly, a cynical metaphor for what's supposed to go on when two people meet.

This shit is a pet-peeve for me. Everybody negs now. It doesn't say to me, "This person is hard to get, I want to work harder to impress them." It tells me this person wasn't raised right and is socially uncalibrated.

I say this all the time but I miss the fuck out of the days where you would see dudes trying out magic tricks in bars. Or overhearing canned openers like: "Who lies more, Ryan Seacrest or Mr. T?" Edit: this is sarcasm, by the way...

Absolutely, man. I don't have anything against them, god bless whoever uses them, but I just find it's a really unnatural way of communicating for me.

Judging by their profile, their constructive feedback would go something like, "Try offering them crystal meth."

1) Don't abuse a boring conversation topic. 2) Don't try to fill every silence right away. 3) Don't brag, be humble, ask open ended questions.

I'm pretty sure repeating the same opener over and over with different women also means he's a Westworld host.
