I think the next thing they're going to demand is de-stigmatized polygamy. Yeah, pretty much. It will be packaged and sold as a sexual orientation. Yes, to some extent. So what if she's been mysteriously texting her coworker and won't let you see the conversation? Not really. Open communication is pretty much central to polyamory. Basic stuff like not lying or cheating or hiding are moral universals, left or right. The fact that sex is something which most women can be freely given but most men …

My claim extends only to this particular case. I have no doubt that there exist systematic biases within the legal system in general. The justice system doesn't care if you grew up in a rough neighborhood, or if you came from a broken home. "Provocation" refers to something that happened at that moment, not the sum of abuse you've endured over a lifetime. I'm skeptical that those particular 16 year olds are the people who bullied him. 16 and `19 don't typically go to school together. Calling som…

You, as a judge, would say that verbal provocation mitigates a 19 year old adult male (that's college freshman age) to attack 15-16 year old girls (that's just left middle school age?) with weapons? Are you being real? I'm pretty sure we've all endured worse "provocation" than that in our lifetimes without violently snapping, and if you haven't you're in the lucky minority. That guy is a danger. The sentence would be exactly the same if those were boys, as would the outcome of the fight - 19 yea…

Why not triple? Or multiply by four? Because that seems unparsimonious to me? But whatever, we have different priors. If you actually care about the answer to this question, you should be asking what sort of data would cause you to change your mind. For example, you could cross check it the numbers against the percent of people who claim to have been cheated on and see if there is a huge discrepancy.

As long as we are talking about what we would choose, to me that sounds unfulfilling and almost bordering on immoral (since you're involved in someone doing something they'll likely regret later), but whatever - to each their own. Only about 20% of women admit to cheating though, and even if you double that to account for people lying, you still have majority not cheating. So if you are concerned about exclusivity, it's within reach.

And its not very relative the results are pretty strong. The word "Relative" here doesn't mean "in the realm of subjective opinion". It means "ratio". As in, there are relatively more republicans in Texas, compared to California. The data shows that some traits are relatively more preferred for short term mating and during ovulation. You seek to interpret the results in a blue-pill fashion If I've misinterpreted the results, you can just point to the misinterpretation. There's no need to extensi…

when you're looking for a ONS, only attractiveness matters (just like guys) That seems like it's likely true? I didn't mean to imply otherwise. Well, not just attractiveness. Some behavioral traits are sexy even for short term mating. For example: Haselton and Miller (2006) asked women to choose one of two hypothetical men as more attractive as a long-term and as a short-term mate. One man was described as creative and talented in his field but not financially successful. The other was described…

Nobody From personal experience I doubt that. Attraction and comfort seem very closely linked, in my experience (both from who I'm attracted to, and who is attracted to me). With regards to faithfulness, I'm actually polyamorous, and judging from your statement you'd be surprised how many otherwise interested women are turned off by the fact that I don't offer exclusivity. From a theoretical standpoint, read up on the concept of "Sociosexuality". Many people (those with low sociosexuality) actua…

Yeah, I mean, they do exist... I'm more getting at the relative size comparison. If subreddits size is any indication, it's <1%... It's like "Muslim Science Fiction Enthusiasts". They exist and that's cool, but they have no impact on the larger Sci Fi culture or genre. On an ideological tree (which logically_ was building) you wouldn't put "Muslim" next to "Sci-fi"

Yup, Polyamory is when a person (of either gender) has multiple relationships, so you're in the right ball park. The generic term for "not monogamous, not cheating" is 'ethical non-monogamy" or "open relationship". Technically none of these things actually have to do with TRP vs. feminism. You can follow TRP ideology and be polyamorous in the technical sense. But "polyamory" also refers to an entire ideology and subculture, and it's mostly feminist.
/r/TheRedPill11/02/14 10:20 AM

erm, as a polyamorous person, I question why you'd put us under TRP? You know people who use the label "polyamory" to describe themselves are over 90% feminists, egalitarians, hippies, etc, right?

nope - you're thinking of lawrence summers who i mentioned above. he didn't publish a study - he was at a conference which was explicitly about gender equality in science and engineering, where he gave a talk which outlined the hypothesis about IQ and gender which you mentioned, and suggested that it was the driving cause for fewer women in technical fields.

He's not - this sort of research is pretty common in psych / soc / econ departments. I think you folks are overestimating the magnitude of PC-censorship in academia here. The whole point of having power is to use it to fulfill your preferences. Your preferences always take precedence over everything else. If you embrace this philosophy of having your primary goal to win the game and gain power, taken to a logical extreme would mean that murdering somebody in order to take his money would be acceptable, since it furthers your own power. If you are like most people, your primary goal is probably not "to gain power". Your primary goal is to fulfill your preferences,…

I'm surprised that age would lead to liberalism, because conventional wisdom would think that the elderly would be more conservative The elderly are more conservative. Conventional wisdom is correct. The finding is that those same elderly are more liberal today than they used to be when they were young. Do you happen to have the source handy? I'm curious to compare it with the American data on the same subject (which shows all age cohorts getting more socially-liberal with age) - media piece and study Edit: Actually...come to think of it the parties would get more liberal as time goes on too, so voting intentions (as in the austrialia study) would wash out any actual changes in people's attitudes. My two cents: 1) It's easier for women to get sex from an arbitrary man without paying for it, than it is for a man to have sex with an arbitrary women without paying for it - because men aren't often choosy about sex and women often are. 2) It's equally difficult for both genders to have a good relationship. If you say "It's easier[1] for women", and they are hearing "it's easier[2] for women", then they will disagree with you. Most likely, they will assume you are talking about [2] because the…

On a more serious note, I think dogs and humans are fairly similar in the extent to which they are willing to reciprocate affection. Thing is, when a dog does something you don't like, or sulks or snarls at you, you excuse the behavior and love it anyway, because it's a dog and that's just how dogs work. You don't get mad at the dog...you just train it to act differently. When a human does something you don't like or sulks or yells at you, you get angry, bitter, sad, resentful... I'm trying to g…

Continuing the ideas in this comment (diagnosed...around 20 I think? Only a delusional, solipsistic female Feminist could possibly believe that most men can select their partners whenever they want. TRP is about how to become those specific people ... settling for what you can get. I dunno. You shouldn't just take Roosh's word for how those men felt about those women - he's operating from a really different framework than they are. Well, as long as we're criticizing... I think that many people at TRP start off as idealists who become cynical when they realize that people are shallow (men and women). I think TRP is right about many things concerning how sexual dynamics work in practice - but come on, "most people, including women, are shallow and easily manipulated" is really not some amazing big insight. While feminism has lowered the standards for women it has made the standards higher for men I understand that you believe that, but I don't understand why you believe that. After agriculture and before feminism, men with power used that power to control sex. A few men had all the power. Look at any patriarchal society anywhere in the world - many men are single and unhappy. It's called egalitarianism: the absence of hierarchy. Feminism (and even men's rights activism) are just gender-related branches. Race, class, etc are other branches. All of them somehow critique, question, or simply study the current power structure. Feminism is just the one with the catchy name. "Anti-racism" sounds awkward. I think the name of feminism was a really unfortunate PR move- I wish they had called it "gender egalitarianism" but I guess that had too many syllables.

You have no idea how much most people in TRP would love to cooperate given the chance. As far as I can tell, that's precisely the problem. From what I can tell from lurking, TRP is made almost entirely out of idealists who became hardened via disillusionment. They see that the dating world, like most facets of humanity, is shallow and selfish. Thereby they decide that the only way to survive is to become shallow and selfish themselves, and learn the strategies to manipulate shallow people. And a…
