I have asperger's syndrome myself and although it's somewhat of a burden i've learned ways to adapt and control it, it's a work in progress of course though. I think it's best to just learn to enjoy the process instead of seeing it as mental work and become happy and confident in yourself, fitness really helped me get going with the confidence part. It would be cool to see some more tips though, but I think just follow the typical advice you'd see here and other places and don't use the disabili…

Yeah pretty much, theres a few forum posts from years ago but that's really it. I imagine there are people somewhere it's just finding them haha.

I get what you're saying, I think I was gonna try and text her for a bit in a couple of days then another on christmas. She's leaving this Sunday so a meet up beforehand isn't possible. I think it'll be fine though as you said because I'm sure she likes me a fair bit haha, thanks for the input.

She's going to her parents for christmas and staying there for a week (as its a few hundred miles away) and well the general advice i see here is to keep it fairly minimal and leave most the talking for the date as texting can become boring fairly quickly. I'm thinking i'll drop her a text maybe once or twice just to see how she is and have a small chat but i'm really just interested in seeing how other people would handle it.

Yeah definitely, I think it was a good night otherwise and surprisingly I'm not doubting myself or regretting it yet so having got it out the way it'll likely be easier to do it again, and sooner as well.

Think this is probably the most likely as its the better thing to do at the moment.

Thing is its just a part time job anyway, i've decided its probably best to just try and make conversation and see what happens without any ulterior motives, maybe try my luck elsewhere first thats more low-risk.

It's just finding a place where I feel comfortable talking to people myself thats the problem, but maybe the problem isn't the place and more just the fact I shouldn't be feeling weird. Might just need to try and work on that

Thanks for the insight, its maybe not so much about the result as i'm making it and more about the process of connecting with people. I've learned from past experiences that texting, messaging never works anyway as its a very creepy/unattractive way to ask someone out so i'm ok there. When the next opportunity arises to make conversation I think i most definitely will attempt to now, because the results of it are irrelevant, and I could do with a work friend anyway haha.

Yeah that makes sense, if we do eventually end up making any conversation i'll definitely try to find some common interests and get a laugh here and there. I guess in the end it would also be good to actually have a friend at work even if its purely platonic.

Does sound like the better thing to do, I'm not entirely sure on the going out solo thing though. Not sure if that would come off as weird, i know i'd certainly feel weird doing it.

I'm aware anxiety is an issue and i'll eventually get through that as i have in the past, but its more the consequences i'm worried about due to the situation, if it were a stranger in a bar i'd have no problem with it. We very rarely leave work at the same time so probably not. The whole Facebook thing was actually to try and eliminate the possibility of her already having a boyfriend, because then i'd know i'd be wasting my time without even having to risk the situation, but much to my surpris…

The opener's are pretty easy when we do eventually cross paths, but at the moment I guess anxiety is getting the better of me. I go to the gym a lot and you'd think that would have improved my self esteem, and to a certain degree it has, but not by much. Not entirely sure how else to get round it. Its also worth noting I have mild Asperger's Syndrome, its relatively controllable though and nobody has any idea I have it unless I tell them.

Thanks for the feedback, I had the same thoughts on this as well actually, I wouldn't want anything to turn sour and mess up work for me, especially since I'm newly single (6 months) after a long term relationship and don't exactly want to jump into anything too serious too fast. Problem is when i do see her i find myself thinking about her the entire shift and i end up distracted and wondering what to do

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
