We would be making the choice that she would be supporting me, if she divorced me that would not be my choice and thus I should be entitled to alimony. If I were to divorce her for reasons such as abuse, then I could also be entitled to alimony. I agree that in most cases alimony is ridiculous and unnecessary, however that is not always the case.

You misunderstood my previous post, in some cases, if you’re wrongfully dismissed you can go through the government to get paid the money you would have earned if you hadn’t been wrongfully dismissed. Alimony can work in a similar fashion, for example if my wife works and I forgo a career to stay home and raise kids. You could argue that I would be entitled to compensation should she divorce me without just cause.

The problem in this case is the rigidity of the system. What sense does it make that if he went to juvenile prison he would get out at 21, regardless of whether or not he was rehabilitated or a danger to society? Why isn't there an option that if he isn't rehabilitated at 21 then the option to put him in adult prison should still be there. Of course, that's only in this specific case.
