This is why people should spread awareness about how it’s natural and normal not to be circumcised. It will change the cultural norm. Where I live, circumcision is only practiced by a minority of religious people and many women have never even seen a circumcised one.

Thank you for answering and I appreciate our lives and perspectives are probably quite different which may be why we feel differently about this. Personally, I suspect it isn’t actually the case that people in the past were happier... I think we are just more exposed to today’s problems than we are to those from the past. Interesting that you read it that way, I understood it more as 'there is no excuse to hit anyone ever, violence is violence'. I thought the writer was trying to dismantle the idea of 'the slap' as being in any way empowering to anyone.
