While I agree that we as people are change over time when I refer to the "real" you it is in reference to being authentically who you are at that present moment. This can involve being in the process of changing by adopting behavior which is not native to the past you but with the purpose of changing. It's when someone drives around perfectly content to being a semi then goes all Optimus Prime only for the purpose of game. They should be working to full transformation, not superficial.

The REAL you is what is underneath all the bullshit society has programmed into your brain that needs to be changed. Adopting the behavior for the sole purpose of gaining that behaviors benefits and refusing to change is the problem. There is nothing wrong with making a change even though you may not feel it is the REAL you "initially." Take posture for example. Proper posture shows confidence and is better for your body.
