I do like the city very much, got a lot of friends in the area still. Thanks for the input, don't think I'd leave ASAP but I'd have no difficulty moving if a better opportunity popped

Thanks for the advice mate, definitely not sold on marriage. I agree , marriage = selling my soul ;). Though it's an error in my writing- I mean she knows I don't ever want to get married, and she's fine with that, said she doesn't need it. You're in a bit of a jam here man. The easiest path is get another job, same field, try a competitor. If you stay, there's not much you can do about the changes already implemented, otherwise you should have mentioned them at the time, either to her personally, and she'd have known in future to run things by you (if she's a reasonable girl, but probably not), or to your line manager, someone who's not afraid to stand up who's senior.
