I know exactly what you mean. It’s almost like I was given a book that tells you about life and how to live it, but someone tore out the chapter about relationships. I’m still not convinced that it’s not a side effect of this modern technological age, but I’m not sure. It’s funny that in this world that is always online 24/7 we are still less connected than ever.

Well now is the time. It doesn’t matter how big or small the step is, a step is a step. Take your time and don’t force yourself into it too quickly, but aim for steady progress. You’ve already made some so use that and keep it going. Make something regular, even with one person. The more someone sees you the more they will want to see you again if they like you. Just keep it up, you’re already making great progress.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely not doing well at it, but I’m trying. My overthinking takes over more times than not, especially when I’m not staying busy. I just quarantined for 2 weeks and I let my thoughts get to an extreme low since I wasn’t doing anything. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows and I don’t ever think it will be. I just hope I find someone to help me keep my mind away from going back to a deep spot. I’m trying to get my life back on track this year though and catching up on a…

Still working on it. But I’ve stopped caring as much about it too. I’ve turned to focus on my work and hobbies because the socialization opportunities are few and far in between in the post college community.

Yeah me too. I didn’t realize the potential I missed out on until it was gone because my personality wouldn’t allow myself to let things go.

Just go for it. Worrying about being attractive is another block keeping you from being spontaneous. Sure you might not think that you’re attractive and need to work on it, but someone else might not think the same thing and like you exactly the way you are. Op didn’t worry about being attractive before being spontaneous and it worked out for him 🤷🏻‍♂️

People do things differently, don’t take it personally. The only way to know for sure if what your feeling is valid is to ask her directly or go on another date.

This is what I usually assume. She’s being nice until proven otherwise. But it’s not up to me to make her prove it, She has to do that on her own.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve never seen evidence of this whatsoever.

It makes sense, but I hate that this is the new normal. If it’s not instantly perfect then people move on instantly. No one is willing to put in the work to make something work if it’s not 100% ideal from the get go.

This is disgusting. This is exactly why online dating is horrible.

Love means different things to different people. For some it means feeling emotionally fulfilled and attached at the hip in a fairy tale style love. For others it means having friends and people that value you and make you feel like you belong. And for a lot of us it just means having your physical and sexual needs met. Everyone loves differently and there is a wide range of emotions and feelings in all these situations. And that doesn’t mean that you have to love yourself to make them happen.

I honestly have had more bad situations result from this than the other way around. I couldn’t tell you the number of times I’ve found out someone was “interested” in me just for it to go nowhere or maybe one date/casual hookup with nothing but psychological manipulation after that. Getting my hopes up and getting strung along for weeks or months hurts way more than just getting turned down because you wonder where you went wrong and it’s really confusing. I have a feeling it has to do with self…

Reddit is an echo chamber. It’s a place for like minded people to congregate in their own sections and say the things they want to hear, not necessarily what they need to hear.

This is why I’m fed up with dating. There’s no logic.

What if no one likes “you” though? I love being myself, but it sure as hell seems like it’s not working for me.

Know what girls are into? How in the world are you supposed to do that? Otherwise I agree 100%

She either wants someone to genuinely be there for her or she wants a rebound.

That’s hilarious! I’ll have to try it

I’ve always wanted to try something like this just to see how crazy it is to be a woman on dating apps. Did you make a fake account or just rebadge your existing one?

I’m glad you worked on yourself and made something good come from it. Keep it up.

Props to you, seriously. That’s a long time to go.

Because I’ve tried it before and it doesn’t work for me. What are the “right” things to focus on?

Good for you, seriously. That would never happen to me though.

I’ve been in the same boat and I’ve done a shit job at it. If it means anything I still don’t know how to make that move either. You’re not alone.

That’s a great way to look at things. Figure out what you want before you go in. Thanks bro.

Oh of course, I would never want to do that. It’s definitely not my style to go in guns blazing. I’m in it for the long haul for sure as I definitely don’t want to take advantage of anyone’s emotional state. That was my plan to just test things out and see if anything happens and take it slow to gushed interest. But Ive been known to let good opportunities go because I’m too slow waiting for things to happen or too timid. But sometimes it’s just good to hear you’re not crazy or letting your emot…
